About
What We're Trying to Do:
Our goal is simple: Raise funds to pay for our cast & crew for the world premiere of this musical at the 2017 Hollywood Fringe festival. We don't want to have to depend on ticket sales to guarantee that the artists helping us get paid for their time and talent, so we are offering you rewards only available for this original production in return for helping us make sure it happens.
Small theater in Los Angeles is done because of passion for a project. But we also believe in showing our talented folk that their passion deserves SOMETHING as payment. Please help us make this a guaranteed reality that's not dependent on ticket sales.
What We Have Done So Far:
We've registered for the show:

We've paid for our venue:

We've written the script and music, such as these examples:
"Criss-Cross My Heart":
"Return to Normal"
"Ultimate Control"
We've cast our show:

We've started rehearsals and we're pushing forward to bring a growling, exciting, passionate musical to this year's Hollywood Fringe!
Here's What Your Help Will Do For Us:

If we pass our projected goal, further money will go to help offset the cost of the production, which has so far been as follows:

We Want to ROCK Los Angeles with a Dark, 21st century approach to the Werewolf story that touches on modern themes and concerns.
At the same time, we want to respect the crew and cast who are helping to bring this show to life.
We can do both with YOUR HELP!

Risks and challenges
We have already committed to producing this show, with the script and music ready for actors, the cast chosen and rehearsals underway. We are registered with the festival and have paid for our performances, so one way or another the production WILL be happening!
The risks and challenges, therefore, are those that every new theatrical production faces--the show might exist but suffer from a lack of talent, drive or excellence. It might happen but be missing that energy, excitement or passion.
Fortunately, the team behind this production is very experienced at putting up productions under conditions such as Hollywood Fringe.
Our Writer/Director Erik built and ran a successful theater from the ground up in Texas, constantly bringing new productions to audiences and keeping his company afloat regardless of any creative or real-world challenge.
Daniel, our musical director, successfully mounted the musical "Broadway Noir" for this very festival last year. He's helped prepare the production for the specific challenges involved in putting a musical together for a Fringe audience.
Thea, our producer, has two decades of management skills with people, money and production from having helped run the Fools' Guild of one of the largest Renaissance Faires in California, a scenario that is one of constantly overcoming challenges to make sure that audiences have an enjoyable time.
What we know is that live theater is a constant case of facing situations and overcoming them in order to bring entertainment to an audience. We're certain we can do that again here--and we're very, very ready to do so. What we need from you is that extra help to cross the finish line, pay for those last odds and ends and give our cast and crew a little bit of money as a thank you for all the work they're putting into the show. And in return, we'll give you the chance to be a part of TheyPlayed Productions very first show!
