We're RCHL. We make quality, affordable jewelry. Our jewelry is water and wear resistant so you can leave it on in the shower, when you wash your hands, in bed, at work, in the pool, at the beach, at the gym– you get the idea. It's the only thing you never have to take off.
Our current collection of pieces covers your basics, a solid set of staples. But we've come to Kickstarter to launch a brand new line of seven signature, customizable pieces. All seven pieces will be available in both gold and silver.

We can't thank you enough for your support! We love being able to produce low-maintenance jewelry that looks like a million bucks. Here's what you get when you back us:
Have your eye on more than one reward?
You can choose as many as you want! Make a pledge and select your first reward, then simply increase your pledge amount to cover the combined value of the rewards you would like. Send us a message to let us know what you've chosen. You can choose different rewards or even multiple of the same reward! We'll also be in contact with you after the Kickstarter to make sure we get you the rewards you want.
Things are getting personal.
The new RCHL pieces are anything but cookie-cutter. All seven have multiple personalization options: gold/silver, chain length, engraving text, etc. After the Kickstarter, we'll contact you so you can select all the options for the rewards you chose.
Our brand new packaging is more than a pretty delivery box. These boxes are lightweight and simple, and made for your jewelry to travel in. Throw it in your purse or the top of your suitcase– RCHL goes anywhere.
Each of our jewelry pieces is named after a specific woman whose story we want to share. On the box, you will find a sketch of that woman's face and a short description of why she's someone you should know.
Quality, Affordable Jewelry
We've all been there. You fall in love with the perfect new piece of jewelry only to have it tarnish on you after a few days. You'd throw it away and forget about it except for the pukish green line it left on your skin. Gross.
RCHL is here to change that.
We make our pieces water and wear resistant by using durable, high-quality materials. Our silver pieces are made from solid sterling silver, and our gold pieces are made from 14k gold filled. I hear you already, "Gold FILLED? I want the gold on the outside!" Don't worry, it is.
Gold Filled – The name sucks, the material doesn't.
"Gold filled" is the name of a specific type of jewelry material. It's easiest to think about it as gold that has been "filled" with a less expensive base metal. Gold filled is federally regulated, and must contain at least 5% gold by weight. Our pieces meet and exceed this requirement, containing up to 9% gold.
Most affordable jewelry is not made of gold filled. Instead, brands use a cheaper process called gold plating. Gold plated jewelry is made with a chemical solution that coats a very thin layer of gold over a base metal. Not all gold plating is regulated, either, and some pieces have been found to contain as little as .000000001% gold. That's not ok.

Gold Filled vs Gold Plated – Why does it matter?
Typical life estimates for gold plated jewelry range from six months to a year. But as you likely know from experience, gold plated jewelry sometimes tarnishes in just a few days. This exposes the base metal, often copper, which turns your skin green.
In contrast, life estimates for gold filled range from five to ten years. Our products are made to hold up to real life, so you can wear them whenever and never have to worry about taking them off!
RCHL is committed to fair pricing and transparent business practices. We're always clear about the materials we use so that you can make informed purchases.
We also take environmental responsibility seriously. At RCHL, we recycle the metal we don’t use, and we are moving away from plastic in favor of paper. Reaching our Kickstarter goal will help us continue our transition to fully paper packaging for our products.
In 2018, Desiree was living in New York City. She saw thousands of women every day– riding the subway, walking to work in Soho, sitting in Washington Square Park. She noticed that she and the other city-goers had something in common: jewelry.
She did some research. Desiree wanted to find a solution to her biggest jewelry problem: there was no middle ground between expensive, solid 14k gold jewelry and the cheap, plated jewelry that always turned her skin green. She started with a Google search: "metal between 14k gold plated and solid 14k gold". Enter gold filled.
Honestly, I felt so betrayed when I learned there was an alternative to gold plating! It felt like the jewelry industry had been hiding this from me, telling me I had to either shell out thousands of dollars for solid gold or deal with my corroding jewelry and green fingers because I had a budget.
Impassioned by her discovery, Desiree started making gold filled jewelry. She named the project after her grandmother (whose jewelry-loving gene was clearly dominant), and RCHL was born.
Since the April 2018 launch out of Desiree's Brooklyn studio apartment, RCHL has grown from a side-hustle into a movement. Desiree relocated to Los Angeles, where RCHL is now her full time job. Over two thousand quality, affordable pieces into her endeavor, it's clear everyone is done settling for anything less.
The Goal Breakdown
With your support on Kickstarter, we're launching a new line of quality, affordable jewelry. The money from this Kickstarter will go directly toward the tools and production costs to make it all happen. Here's the breakdown:

Risks and challenges
We couldn't be more excited to launch our new line. Like any business, we face risks and challenges that we've considered and are prepared to overcome.
Order Volume – We're prepared for a lot of orders. Kickstarter increases our visibility, and that means both our new collection and our classics will be in higher demand. We've already begun training additional staff to help compensate for this workload. We've assessed our production strategies and invested in the tools and machines that will help us speed up our process to deliver on time.
Quality Control – We've made some bold statements about our jewelry. Don't worry. Our materials and pieces have undergone extensive real-life tests (Desiree even wears RCHL when she makes jewelry!). We'll be using the same testing processes on the new pieces we manufacture to guarantee that they hold up to our standards.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
