Every time I knit in public or wear my knits out, I get compliments and requests. Over the years, knitting has strictly been a hobby and gifts for loved ones. The more people that tell me they’d purchase from me, the more I realized this may really work.
My goal here is to give my fledgling company massive exposure online. In order to do that, I need to have supplies and products. Ideally, the store would be stocked with both patterns and ready to go items. To make those items, I need the supplies.
I am starting out by using my current stash of yarn and existing needles. I will need to purchase more yarn, more needles and other supplies, actually pay my marketing team, office storage (shelving/ bins), and shipping materials. My funding goal is relatively low as I just need the kick in the pants to realize people really are willing to pay me for knitting. If you have any questions feel free to contact me and thank you for checking out my campaign!
Stretch Goals Added!
- If we make it to $650, all pledges over $10 will get some baked goods in their package.
- If we make it to $750, all pledges of $25 and up will get a tote bag as well.
My plan here is that you will 1- want these items and 2- not feel ripped off by the prices. Hey, I’m considerate like that. I have checked around for similar items for pricing. Keep in mind that this Kickstarter is not only for exposure for Sheep2skein, but also to be able to purchase supplies for these and other projects. Plus, shipping to the Continental US is included.
For all knits, you can PM me to ask any question about fiber, colors, etc. Once funding is secured and the campaign over, I will send out a survey asking you the questions.
I am limiting the items with the hopes of getting everything made and shipped by the December holidays in case you want to gift your rewards. Yes, a gift to yourself is still a gift!
Patterns - $5 - I currently have 2 patterns (Owl Hat and Ribbed Cowl) that I designed but am working on a 3rd (a wrap, viewable only to Ravelry members for now). This level will get you one of those patterns along with my eternal gratitude.
Hearts - $7 - these hearts are multi-color
Baby Hat - $17 - this adorable hat has ribbing along the bottom to keep it snug against your child's head. It should fit up to size 12mo. Your color choices will be selected after funding is completed in the survey.
Hoot Owl - $22 - She is 5-7" tall and you will receive a grey or brown bodied Hoot. Yours will have a beak... and wings, if you prefer. I like mine beaklass.
Tote Bag - $15 - If you don't want a handknit but still want a goodie, this is the perfect option for you. I am still looking for the perfect manufacturer, but this will be a nice sturdy canvas tote bag with this logo (or some variation of it) on it. It will be about 14" x 14" x 3" with good length straps.
Gloves - $25 - your choice of the following 3 patterns. Your color choices will be selected after funding is completed in the survey. (Look at the details, not the colors.)
Scarves - $50 - your scarf will be about 5-6' long and in your choice of the following 2 patterns. Your color choices will be selected after funding is completed in the survey. (Look at the details, not the colors.)
If you really want to support me but just can't financially, I ask that you please share this campaign with everyone you you know. You will have still have my gratitude.
Once I finish shipping all the rewards, all leftover money will be funneled into my studio for supplies - wider variety of colors, more patterns, etc.
If I am significantly overfunded, after picking myself up from fainting, I will look into buying yarn blanks, dyes and other materials to learn how to dye yarn which will be a reward either as a stretch goal or in the larger Kickstarter campaign.
I would also love to outfit my studio with shelving and bins (hello IKEA!) to store the yarn and supplies. Oh, and actually have an in-home studio! Right now, the couch in front of the TV and public transportation are my office.
Risks and challenges
The biggest challenge and risk is time. I am just 1 person with a full time job and a very long commute. The good news is train time is knitting time! I am able to knit a little bit every day and have plenty of extra weekend knitting time. Smaller items I can start in advance of the campaign ending to get them out quicker.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
