This campaign is for the funding of the alternate cover printing of Jonathin Quackup Issue #2!
The Jonathin Quackup series takes place in a dying world called Weralt. The inhabitants of the world (humans, hawkoids, pelishtees) are in constant war with one another.
And the lands are full of monsters that lurk in the shadows of night.
The World of Weralt is a very dark place. It needs a hero.
This is where Jonathin Quackup comes in. The first 2 issues are part of his "origin" story of where he came from and how he became a hero.
In issue #1, we are introduced to Jonathin Quackup and his family. Jonathin's cousin Taeheed is a great soldier and war hero of the hawkoid people. Because he is loved by so many, the hawkoid overlord becomes jealous of Taeheed's popularity and plans to have him killed. Taeheed and Jonathin flee to the pelishtees, the enemies of the hawkoids, for help.
In issue #2, while Taeheed and his soldiers are away, the village is under attack, and Jonathin has been captured!
Will Jonathin be able to escape and find Taeheed? Can the village be saved from destruction?
It is a race against time as Jonathin must face war and tragedy - And to discover the true hero inside himself.

Here is what other people think of Quackup...
"At the cons I showed and told them [Quackup]. All positive feedback!" - Terry Pavlet (Illustrator/Graphic Designer for DC, Image, Malibu, Dark Horse, Wizards of the Coast, etc.)
"Raymond Mullikin [does] some great material. Particularly like the art in the introduction!" - Ryan Sook (Illustrator/Cartoonist for DC, Dark Horse, Marvel, etc.)
"[Quackup] reminds me of my youth, when I was watching animations like Alfred J. Quack (Ahiru no Kwak) & Donald Duck. NOW THIS comic hero is the reincarnation of my childhood visions." - Thomas Gosage (Online Sales Director)
"I'm a cartoonist myself and I can say without doubt that I am so inspired by this work! The final results are awesome! It gives you the feeling that I always admire about art. It makes me feel like for a moment I owe the world!" - Jhon Jhones (Cartoonist)
What will the money be used for?
The money will be used for paying for the printing of the alternate covers of Quackup #2. Not only that, but we need money to advertise the first and second issues and to pay the artists.
THE CREATIVE TEAM
Back in 1992, cartoonist Raymond Mullikin first created the character Jonathin Quackup. (He was only 12 at the time.)
Over the years he has showed up on websites, comic books, and film festivals. (You can find him at the Raytoons Website at raytoons.net) Now, more than 20 years later, he has collaborated with other artists to bring this character to life in an ongoing comic book series, called Jonathin Quackup of the Planet Weralt.
Raymond has a very dedicated team for the Jonathin Quackup of the Planet Weralt series. Some are professionals in their field... and all are excellent at their work. I am glad to count them as part of the team.

What do some of the rewards look like?
To get an idea of what the comic book rewards might look like, here are some pictures of the rewards made from the previous Quackup Kickstarter Campaign...
The first issue was already printed at PrintNinja. The second issue will be of similar quality. Here is what the first issue looks like....
Some rewards come with a certificate of authenticity...
There are also digital rewards where you get a special digital message and signature...
Some rewards give you the option to have your own "personalized" cover. It can have your face and name (or that of a family member or friend)...
Some rewards give you a page to advertise in my comic. Here is an example of an ad posted in my Raytoons Cartoon Avenue Magazine...
And, with some rewards, you get a really cool Quackup game app...
And everyone who pledges and sends me their email addresses, will get awesome updates one a month by email. You will also be notified of any free events that I would be involved in (like Free Comic Book Day).
Jonathan Quackup is also an "open-artist" project. That means we are open to other artists and writers contributing to our projects.
Artists can contribute artwork here at: http://tapastic.com/series/Jonathin-Quackup-Artwork--Fanart
The goal of this Kickstarter Project is to raise funds to produce at least 100 issues, with the $400 goal. But that's only our minimum goal...
The more funding we get past the goal, the more prints we will make. And the more prints we make, the cheaper the costs will be... And that means stretch goal additions of more prizes to all the supporters!
With the current $400 goal...
We would be printing our Quackup #2 issues at Ka-Blam printing. That would cost us $3.32 per comic (not counting shipping costs).
If goal surpasses $1,800...
We would be printing 750 issues of Quackup #2. That would cost us $1.54 per comic! That means double the printings of issue #2 (or issue #1 if you get to choose the comic) for all supporters with rewards over $25 that get printed copy(s) of the issue.
If goal surpasses $2,000...
We would be printing 2000 issues. That would cost us $0.77 per comic! That means 5x the printings of issue #2 for all supporters with rewards over $70 that get printed copy(s) of issue #2. (USA only: And any person with a pledge over $10 that doesn't have printed comic as a reward, will get a comic too!) Also, I will add extra Raytoons art stuff for all rewards over $25.
Don't see enough Quackup stuff here? Want to see more? Or maybe information about other upcoming Raytoons projects?
I also post the latest updates on twitter. Information sometimes shows up here before it shows up anyplace else...
Risks and challenges
We have successfully fulfilled Kickstarter campaigns before and are now fairly familiar with the process, including printing/shipping times. And the second issue is already fully written and illustrated. For printing, we use the very reliable services of PrintNinja and Ka-Blam Printing. So the only real risks if there are delays in shipping or if there is some illness or injury.
And I have been careful to create reward tiers that offer items that I would not have difficulty producing... and I will ensure delivery goes as smoothly as possible. Everybody here takes our responsibilities seriously!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
