My name is David Savedge and I am a blacksmith and artist. I started smithing and metal work as a child and trained with a journeyman blacksmith at Jamestown Settlement and a master brass founder at Colonial Williamsburg. I have finally built a basic shop on my farm, Ravenstead. It's a simple shop reminiscent of the 17th century shop I worked in at Jamestown.
Ravenstead is my home and family business with smithing becoming a bigger part of what I do to provide. This current project will help better establish the blacksmithing shop at Ravenstead.
When I'm not working on the farm or smithing I'm thinking about games and gaming. I love classic tabletop role-playing games.
I had a blast making my last several Kickstarter Projects, Forged Iron Protection Runes: A Tabletop RPG Token , Dragon Scales: A Tabletop RPG Game of Chance , Scrying Dice: A Tabletop RPG Runic Accessory. and Dice Vaults and Treasure Coins: Tabletop RPG Accessories
I am excited to share my new project, Troll's Teeth: A Tabletop RPG Game of Chance™ ! It is a combination of my two favorite things, gaming and blacksmithing. I am presenting the game in a fantasy setting here, but I already have plans to use this in a Sci-Fi Campaign taking place in an isolated back-world cantina. Troll's Teeth truly fits into any RPG!
Troll's Teeth is a game of chance for use with any Role Playing Game System. The rules are straightforward and designed to favor the adventurer, inspiring excitement and fun. The game is played with six handmade iron or wooden teeth that are cast across your favorite tavern table. Place your wager, cast the teeth, then count the pips and consult the results table in the PDF rules provided.
I am offering sets of wood and iron. Each set comes with a cloth drawstring bag, three hand-struck pewter coins, and a PDF copy of the rules.
The wooden set features teeth made from western red cedar and has pips wood-burned into opposing facets. Each tooth roughly measures 0.5" x 1.5". The teeth are finished with linseed oil giving them a deep golden color.
The iron set is hand-forged and filed, with pips stamped into opposing facets. Each tooth roughly measures 0.375" x 1.5". The teeth are lightly coated with beeswax to protect the finish and prevent tarnishing.
Trolls Beware! Beware of trolls at your doorstep! The best way to protect your stronghold is to display a lock of troll's hair affixed with a forged nail. This will serve as a warning to any marauding beasts that a mighty slayer resides within!
This reward includes a lock of troll's hair adorned with a copper colored plastic bead and two hand forged nails. I keep one nailed above my forge to discourage any nasty beasts from hanging around!
I have plans for numerous add-ons and stretch goals for the project. If the project reaches a high enough goal I will be able to offer leather pouches, extra pewter coins, and a handcrafted Troll's Tooth necklace! Let's make this a BIG project!
Here is a look at the Troll's Tooth Pendant. You can pledge for this alone or add $38 to your original pledge to receive the pendant along with your other rewards!
The money I earn with this project will go towards improving my blacksmith shop and developing my Etsy Store. In terms of shop improvements, we are looking at building a larger work space here at Ravenstead. This would involve pouring a concrete slab, construction of a building, running power to the building, and the monumental task of equipping the shop with forges and other heavy equipment. It will be a long process and the first step will be site planning, surveys, and drafting of plans. If you're anything like me, you like to know the behind-the-scenes details of a project like this. I would like to share this process with you, so some of the funds from this project will go towards establishing a stronger presence on YouTube and towards developing a Patreon Page. Anything left over will go towards coal for the ever-hungry forge, and other consumables such as metal files, wire brushes, and metal stock.
I will be using USPS to ship all rewards via First Class Package service. Should the shipping weight exceed 16 ounces with the purchase of extras or add-ons an additional fee may be required to cover the postage.

Risks and challenges
I have carefully estimated my time and available resources; i.e. coal, metal, tools, and the occasional cup of mead. I feel very confident, barring a freak accident, that I can have everyone's rewards delivered by the end of June. I have confidence in this project, so I have already begun production of the promised rewards.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
