This project will be a sequel to the 2009 revenge thriller Sweet Karma. Shot for a budget of $90,000 Sweet Karma sold around the world and made a minor star out of its lead actress Shera Bechard. For the follow-up, with your help, we hope to have a budget of $250,000 to create a bigger, better, sexier, and more action-packed sequel. Our plan is to raise at least $100,000 worth of funding on Kickstarter, and then finance the rest through private funds and equity investments. Our tentative production date is September 2012 in Toronto, with a planned completion of January 2013. The film will have a traditional release starting with the worldwide film festival circuit, followed by a limited theatrical run, and then home video/VOD distribution.
Arrested at the airport for the murders she committed, Karma finds herself dealing with the harsh conditions of a women’s prison. But she’s given a second chance when Robert Fleming, an agent with CSIS, makes her a deal – work covertly for us, or rot away in prison. Clearly it’s not much of a choice so Karma accepts his offer. Soon she’s leading the life of a government assassin, using her feminine charms and sex appeal to take out an array of targets – from a middle-eastern dictator’s son to the head of Toronto’s Vietnamese mafia. But when she’s lied to about the identity of one of her targets, she discovers that Robert isn’t who he says he is, and that his motives are far more sinister than she imagined. Soon Karma is fighting for her life as she becomes the target. She must stay alive in order to both clear her name, and to bring down Robert with her own style of vigilante justice.
Sweet Karma was the feature length directorial debut of Andrew Thomas Hunt who got his start directing music videos and commercials in Toronto. The film was conceived by long-time friends James Fler, Michael Paszt and Hunt who formed Raven Banner Entertainment shortly after the completion of Sweet Karma. In their two years in business Raven Banner has acquired 30+ films for either worldwide or international sales, forging strong relationships with distributors such as Sony, Lionsgate, MPI, Magnet Releasing, IFC Films and Anchor Bay. In addition, the partners were Executive Producers on the film Bounty Hunters starring 7-time WWE Women's Champion Trish Stratus, and are Executive Producing the film Savaged which is currently in production. You will have complete peace of mind knowing that the film you are helping to fund will not only be made to the highest of standards, but will have a guaranteed release.
Shera Bechard was born and raised in Kapuskasing, Ontario, Canada - the same hometown as film director James Cameron. At the age of 18 she moved to Toronto to pursue modelling, working with notable photographers such as Marcus Klinko, Ian Cuttler, George Whiteside, Ivan Otis, and rockstar/ photographer Bryan Adams. It was there that she met director/photographer Andrew Thomas Hunt, who after working together on a photoshoot saw the potential of her as Karma. After one audition she was cast in the role, her first acting experience ever, which landed her the Best New Actress Award at Fantastic Fest 2009, in Austin, TX. Soon after that a chance encounter with Playboy Cartoonist Doug Sneyd landed her a test shoot with Playboy and her becoming Miss November 2010. Shera has quickly become one of the most popular Playmates in recent years, being selected as Playmate of the Decade by Facebook fanpage Top Playmates. She now calls Los Angeles home, where she continues her modelling career. She is very eager and excited to once again play the role of Karma Balint, and kick more bad guys' asses.
