You love coffee and good design. The Ratio Six is the coffee maker you've been waiting for.
I'm a coffee equipment nerd, and this is what I've been working on for 3 years. I started Clive Coffee 10 years ago that imports customized, high quality, and expensive espresso machines directly from Italy.
Why should espresso enthusiasts be the only ones with great looking equipment, I wondered?
The Ratio Six is my attempt to offer an incredibly easy-to-use, beautiful-to-behold, pleasure-to-own coffee maker, at a price point that more people can afford.
Coffee matters. It can provide the basis of a quiet bit of solitude to start your day, or a drink to share with a new friend, or a finale to a great dinner with those you love.
Let Ratio brew amazing coffee for whatever you're doing with your time!
-Mark Hellweg, Ratio founder
One Button Simplicity.
Simplify your coffee routine to the touch of a button. The Ratio Six’s Bloom, Brew, and Ready phases run in sequence, delivering a perfect (and easy) cup of coffee every time.
Love pour over brewed by a skilled barista? So do we. But sometimes you need to *quickly* make great coffee. Ratio will handle the extraction for you. Just add cold water and freshly ground coffee.
Delicious, Perfectly Extracted Coffee. For Everyone.
Our coffee machines are used by Top Chef champions and coffee professionals. You can find the Ratio Eight in Palm Springs resort suites and in tiny coastal restaurants producing 15 course dinners reviewed by the New York Times.
We wanted to expand the availability of great coffee, and the Six offers trusted coffee best practices in a more affordable format.
The Ratio Six emulates a skilled barista pour over process, precisely metering water flow through both the Bloom and Brew phases. All of the taste. None of the work. Trusted by those with great palates.
Fibonacci Spiral Shower Head & Bloom
After the button is pressed, Ratio gets to work on brewing great coffee. First, the powerful heating element sends hot water bubbling up through handblown glass supply lines to the stainless steel spiral shower head. Water is distributed over the ground coffee, causing a bubbly interaction called a “bloom.” The control board allows the Bloom to settle before delivering the rest of the hot water, slowly, near the ideal temperature (200º). The result? More evenly extracted grounds and a more amazing cup of coffee.
Designed for today. And tomorrow.
We designed the Ratio Six for longevity with precision formed stainless steel, borosilicate glass, and high end BPA-free copolymers. Every inch is built to last and covered by a 5-year warranty.
Compact Size, Full Performance
The Six will fit in most kitchens without taking up too much countertop real estate.
The Ratio Six ships with a thermal carafe designed for flat-bottom basket coffee filters. Prefer a conical filter? You can also use the Ratio Eight Thermal Carafe or Glass Carafe with a Chemex paper filter or stainless steel reusable Ratio Kone. Both the Ratio Six and Eight have the same brewing capacity (1.3 liters / 40 ounces). Read all the details on the Ratio Eight versus the Six.
Modern Quality, 5 Year Warranty
There are coffee machines that make great coffee, and there are coffee machines that look great. Ratio Six is both, combining form and function.
Designed in Portland, Oregon, every Ratio machine is meticulously assembled by hand from components we manufacture with our overseas partner. While common appliances often have a built-in obsolescence and 1-3 year life span, every Ratio is built to last and covered by a 5-year limited warranty.
Technical, Yet Simple
All of the features you need, with nothing that will clutter up your routine or provide too many options when you just want a cup of great coffee.
If we hit $100k in this campaign, we will offer an all black version of the Ratio Six to all supporters. Share the good word!

We are the creators of the Ratio Eight coffee maker.
The Eight brought super premium materials, beautiful aesthetics, and automated brewing science to the home. The reviews were great!
In thinking about the future, we asked ourselves: could we deliver the best of the Eight, but smaller and at a lower price?
Our team has been working together since 2014 in the development, manufacture, fulfillment, and refinement of the Ratio Eight. The Six has been in intensive development for over 18 months and we are thrilled to get them out into the world.
We have produced a Works Like / Looks Like prototype. There will be a few improvements in production, including:
- A more substantial cast stainless lid for the water tank
- A smaller Ratio logo on the support tube
- Refined layout and sizing of the Bloom/Brew/Ready lights and lettering
- Improved flow of the coffee out of the thermal carafe
- A catcher to hold the filter holder (and prevent those drips!) after brewing
Risks and challenges
While manufacturing is always a challenge with sometimes unforeseen risks, we have been manufacturing the Ratio Eight since 2015 and are experienced in product development, manufacturing, and fulfillment. We successfully launched and shipped our Thermal Carafe on Kickstarter back in 2016.
Our team is committed to delivering an exceptional product that reflects the Ratio brand.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
