About this project
The world's finest thermal serving carafe
The Ratio Thermal Carafe is our second product. Combining high-design with the best materials available on the market, the Ratio Thermal Carafe is designed to enhance those moments of settling in to enjoy coffee or tea.
Ratio's Thermal Carafe is designed for use with the Ratio Eight Coffee Machine, but also functions as a stand alone thermal serving device for coffee or tea, and as a manual pour over vessel with a matching ceramic cone. It holds 40 ounces, or 1.25 liters.
Designed in Portland, Oregon
Ratio is a company of individuals that are fairly obsessive about good design and coffee well made. Those thoughtful details that you've come to expect in other products you own - that copper zipper that patinas over time, or the smooth machined aluminum knob on your stereo - those are the types of investments in quality that we're after. The Ratio design studio on the banks of the Willamette River is where we gather the best minds of engineering, industrial design, and fabrication to bring to market exceptional tools for making and serving coffee.
The Ratio Thermal Carafe begins with a high quality double-walled stainless steel dewar, which is then finished with a metallic-ceramic coating, or a premium powder-coating. The included silicone lid has two positions - one for pouring, and one for sealing in the heat.
The Carafe is topped with a solid piece of stainless steel that forms the pouring spout and handle, bringing the final weight of the Carafe to just under 5 lbs. If you've felt misled by the chromed plastic parts on other thermal carafes, you'll instantly feel the difference in quality.
To accompany the Ratio Thermal Carafe, we've developed an accompanying ceramic conical dripper for use in the Ratio Eight Coffee Machine, or as a stand alone dripper for manual pour over. The conical Dripper also works for a single cup of coffee, with a contour designed to sit directly on top of a mug. The outside of the Dripper is a matte white finish, while the inside has a high-gloss to prevent coffee stains.
The Ratio Dripper works with Chemex paper filters, or with the Ratio Kone by Able Brewing.
The Ratio Thermal Carafe has been in development for 18 months, and we're excited to announce it for the first time on Kickstarter.

Risks and challenges
The Ratio Thermal Carafe has been under development for the last 18 months. Raising a minimum of $60k on Kickstarter will now allow us to meet minimum production and packaging runs.
We waited to announce the carafe until we had tooling finished, along with completing all the refinements necessary for a truly refined product. We are ready to place our production order, and with your help we can make this happen!
Thank you for your support of the Ratio Thermal Carafe and for being a part of bringing this product to life.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
