A Gifted Beer Historian with Autism and a Dream 40 Years in the Making
If it took nearly forty years for your dream to come true, would you give up? Now in his mid-fifties, Lance Rice is a gifted brewery historian with a passion for beer and an incredible photographic memory. Lance has spent a lifetime memorizing a staggering amount of knowledge in beer and brewery history. Yet even more astonishing is the fact that Lance has never been able to share his passion or brilliance with the world, but he never given up on his dream...
Lance is autistic.
Lance dreams to write his own America brewery history book and share his passion for beer history with the world so he can help others with autism. Lance's Brewery Tour is his dream come true. With help from his nephew Aaron and a talented film crew, Lance will travel across America to visit the nation's greatest breweries. Throughout his journey Lance will gather the photos, interviews and experiences he needs to finally author his dream book, Lance's Brewery Tour . Lance's Brewery Tour will also be the name of a feature length documentary about Lance's journey from childhood, a period in which Lance was considered low-functioning and could barely communicate, through his awe-inspiring present day journey to defy the odds, become an author and help others with autism.

Lance's life is triumph of perseverance, faith and hope - and by his dream coming true we know we can pave the way to help others like Lance pursue their dreams and inspire hope for years to come.
Lance's story has already been featured in MAXIM Magazine, USA Today, Disney's Babble.com and many other TV, radio and news outlets nationwide! We never expected the nation to embrace Lance so quickly and with so much love. Lance's message of hope and beauty for autism is growing, but we cannot bring his dream to life on our own but with your help Lance's Brewery Tour can impact the world.

America's Greatest Breweries Honored to Be Part of Lance's Dream
Last month no one knew Lance's name. Today news media nationwide refer to Lance as "The Rain Man of Beer," a nickname he is proud to have and America's greatest breweries have invited Lance to their grounds to help his dream come true. Among them are renowned brewers like Miller Coors, Pabst, Sam Adams, Yuengling, Magic Hat, Great Lakes Brewing Co, Rogue, New Holland, New Belgium, Shiner, Schlafly and more! Lance has been invited to over 40 of The Brewer's Association "Top 50 Breweries in America" and more invited pour in daily!

If we reach this Kickstarter campaign goal, we will be able to begin Lance's Brewery Tour! Please join the nations best breweries and help us begin filming and writing on June 15th. Our first foal of $15,000 ensures we can begin our project and tour the Midwest. After that, we will set new stretch goals to help us further Lance's journey and maybe even produce the entirety of Lance's Brewery Tour: the journey, the film and the book! For now, we need to know we can start! What does this Kickstarter goal fund?
- Equipment Rentals and Purchases
- Food
- Lodging
- Gas
- Transportation
- Insurance
- Personell expenses
The cost a traveling from coast-to-coast with Lance, who has special needs as he travels, and a film and photography crew of 7 people is incredible. Hotel rooms alone at a $45/night rate will cost nearly $11,000. Imagine adding in the costs of film equipment, transportation, gas, insurance, food, wages and the list goes on. However, with your help we know we can begin this once-in-a-lifetime project!

What happens if we meet our first goal quickly?
We will add stretch goals to help get us closer to funding 100% of Lance's Brewery Tour.
Over the next 6-8 months a team of talented filmmakers, sound professionals, editors, designers, autism experts and brewery professionals are dedicating themselves to Lance's Brewery Tour. Consider the average cost of buying a 30 second network TV commercial is $108,000. We are trying to travel the country, produce a feature length film and publish a book for roughly the same price many companies pay for 30 seconds of TV commercial time. We have a talented team of award winning filmmakers and photographers who are willing to sacrifice to bring this project to life.

Without your donations our team will not be able to share Lance's message of hope with the world. Lance's long term dream is to inspire others and to give back. Your support will be a gift not only to Lance but to countless others. With the nation already embracing Lance's story, we can only imagine the long term impact Lance's Brewery Tour can have on the world. Thank you for your support! #BeerAutismHope

Risks and challenges
Lance deals with very common challenges associated with autism: social anxiety, difficulty communicating and making eye contact, reliance on ritualistic behaviors that often limit daily productivity, occasional issues with motor skills and coordination as well as phobias including claustrophobia and agoraphobia.
These challenges, however, are less problematic when Lance is with his nephew Aaron. Since the age of two Aaron has been a friend to Lance and a great source of trust and comfort. Now thirty-two, Aaron is an actor, producer and director who has carefully planned an innovative documentary shoot that allows Lance to interact with a skilled film crew without being overwhelmed. Lance’s Brewery Tour is a candid portrait of the beauty and brilliance of a gifted autistic man and the difficulties he will face to pursue his dream.
Early on we thought receiving permission and access to breweries, both historic and current, would be challenging. However, throughout production development we have received an overwhelming amount of support from breweries, beer experts and business owners across the nation. We are astounded by the opportunities and excitement that keeps pouring in for Lance and his dream.
