Releasing a dance track is easy and then... NOT SO MUCH! The process is very expensive and ends up on the lone shoulders of the artist. I've been doing it now since my 1st release in 2000 so I've learned and experienced what steps are required in order to make a successful release.
The Song: Ok, so the name of the song is "OMG (I Just Keep On Dancin')". Even though break-ups are just as tough as life's daily challenges, don't give up on YOUR life. Don't stop trying. Keep doing your best and just love. This song has been in development now for over 4 years. The time for it to be shared to the world just wasn't ready yet. IT IS NOW! I wrote and composed this piece with my wonderful Swedish friend, producer, DJ and musician, Lennie Andersson. Lennie is also known as "LA Rush". Since the age of 19, this inspiring artist has had the great pleasure of producing and remixing other big names like Taylor Dayne, Agnes, Bosson, Dj Encore, Smash Into Pieces, Richi M, plus many more! Most importantly, Sweden knows Lennie as one of the 1st producers who helped develop Dance music (as we know it today) for Sweden.
Why Raquela? I've had the great pleasure of working with the best-of-the-best! Chris "The Greek" Panaghi, Mickey Oliver (one of the originators of House Music), Nivek Tek (ISV Entertainment, Cover successes of "A Little Respect" and "Hold Me Now"), plus many others. These guys helped unlock a whole new world to me. I've had the lucky privilege of opening for names like Lady Gaga (Stefani Germanotta), Deborah Cox, Lisa Lisa, Erika Jayne, Kristine W, Judy Torres, Luciana, Robin S, CC Penniston, Crystal Waters, George Lamond, Stevie B, Georgie Porgie, Jessica Sutta and Grammy artist, Little Louie Vega.
If you really want to go further back in Raquela's stage profession, while she played leads on Broadway in New York City, she had the privilege of working with names like Carol Burnet, Cloris Leachman, Bernadette Peters, Toni Collette, Don Rickels, Elaine Stritch, Chita Rivera, Angela Bassett, Joan Rivers, Tom Bosely and many more!
I've charted on Billboard 3 times. I currently have three records on the Dance club charts. Two of which were on DJ Times for 7 weeks straight! DJ Times is one of the most important Dance music magazines in the world. The other is taking the Latin community by storm. I have also done two encouraging records to help save abused domestic animals and another to help the American Red Cross. (Scroll to the very bottom to see their dance music videos)
There's something about music that makes me want to get up every morning. I came from very humble beginnings. Growing up interracial, in a small, white, Northern California town was complicated. It was hard to identify with myself, especially since I was bullied on a daily basis. Disco and House music kept me lifted. The message this type of music carries out was always so encouraging.
I teach Voice lessons privately but that barely pays off my bills and maintains
my savings. Now I'm on my own without the backing I use to have and I can
barely sustain my healthy fan size. You see, I recently left my quaint little
apartment in New York City to Sacramento to become a full-time care giver to my
elderly parents. Although it was a sacrifice I was happy to make, it did not
come without its challenges. Money that I make from teaching and performing, I
put back into taking care of my family. Because in my culture, family comes
first. Here's the thing, the dream is still alive, I'm ready to write more
material, get more music videos out, but the capital is no longer there. People
in Sacramento, Miami, New York, Chicago, Seattle and San Francisco continue to
write me, anxious for another release. Currently, I've been busy working and
performing in several benefit shows in San Francisco. Why?
Since I don't have the capital to continue recording, at least I can still make
myself available to perform live, which is what I love to do anyhow. I've been
often nicknamed the, "Personable Diva". HA! Unfortunately, many of these
performances do not pay. Concert promoters can't afford to fly out 'openers'
anymore. My personal budget is depleted. The fan demand is still there. I can't
give up, so what so I do next?
Kickstarter! I and my team are hoping that Kickstarter will be the key player to keeping the dream alive.
Here is the breakdown for this original recording project:
Title: "Oh My God (I just Keep On Dancin'!)"
Theme: Though break-ups are just as tough as life's daily challenges, don't give up. Don't stop trying. Keep doing your best and just love.
$3,000 - 3 or 8 remixes. At least one strong Billing name. (A strong billing name will help push the track on the charts. I have a "Favorite" list already made out. If you donate, I would love to share my "Remixer Wish List" to you.)
$1,000 - Mastering (For just the original Radio and Extended edits. Today, most professional remixers are able to master their own remixes.)
$2,000 - Videographer and Editing (Remember, this is considered a very low budget scale) Will also Include: Gas, costumes, make-up, lighting, studio and photo shoot.
$3,000 - Marketing, Graphic Design, Distribution, etc.
$4,000 - Radio promotions
I have my own recording studio and software where I lay down clean dry vocals on my own. There I have shaved off at least $3,500.
Kickstarter is an "all or nothing" funding method for this project, so I'm going to make my goal a bit shy of the total amount needed. Realistically, I need $30,000. If I don't make that, no problem. If I can make it to at least $13,000, then I can fund the basics (as listed above) and that will establish an astounding launch!
If you are an established entrepreneur, I would be proud to share your business to all my fans and the world on my website and all my social sites. (Facebook, Myspace, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.) According to my latest Reverbnation statistic report, I am 30,000 worldwide fans strong and still growing. I would not hesitate to say YES if you are interested in drawing up a sponsorship agreement. Please write me your contact information. I would like to send you my sample letter.
So in closing, The economy has dragged the world down into a dark abyss and I refuse to be a part of it. Join me! Help me get my new song and video out to the world. I've already done the hard work by establishing myself in the music industry for more than 10 years! This time I know it's going to be my turn on Billboard! Help me focus on what I do best; lets unite and then motivate the world together!
P.S. Please check out my profile on LinkedIn. There I have "written recommendations" by more than 30 top industry people along with more than 500 endorsements as well! Check it out - http://www.linkedin.com/in/raquelamusic

Risks and challenges
As I have stated above, it's difficult to get financing for recording projects these days. Then there is the time frame. We need the funds by February 2013. That is when we HAVE to go into the studio to start recording and filming.
I have been doing this for a long time and I will do everything in my educated experience to protect the creative process from possible road blocks. My team is extraordinary and reliable because they love what they do. All of the collaborators (the remix team, video editors, film staff, etc.) are seasoned and successful. The only portion of the weather we cannot predict is the technical problems that could get in the way of the creative process.
After the project is funded, the main risk is that the music and/or video will not be completed by the deadline date provided above (especially rewards expecting mastered mp3 files to be delivered). Remember, the delivery dates are only an estimate. However, you will receive your reward for sure. I will be putting a lot of time and effort into this project to ensure improvements before everything is wrapped up. I do NOT settle for any draft that is presented to me. I don't think I'm a perfectionist but I do strive for excellence especially when it's my own project and its ultimately representing ME. I want the best for this project so that after distribution, YOU are a part of THE BEST. Sometimes time and patience is our friend, so it's best not to overlook any mistakes in order to guarantee this record's chance for success.
We need to reach EVERYONE who might be interested in participating in this fundraiser. YOU CAN HELP! Tell your friends to post the link http://raquela.com on your Facebook page, or tweet about it.
ALSO, after the project is successfully funded, I will start a separate newsletter dedicated only to those who contributed to "OMG (I Just Keep On Dancin')", to help keep you posted throughout the production process.
From the bottom of my heart, I can't tell you how much it means to me to have your love and support on this project. Because of your kindness and generosity, I am finally able to make my dreams come true and for that I am eternally grateful. If you have any questions or concerns about this project, please do not hesitate to contact me today and once again... I thank you!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
