How did we turn this . . .
Mean Green Building
When we say mean green building, we mean green building.
And we mean business, too.
After over a decade of incubation, and with our initial proof of concept successfully completed, our revolutionary green building system — RamRock™ Compression-Formed Masonry — is in its final stage of development. The centerpiece of our system is a portable, high-performance machine – the RamRocket™ . . .
. . . which uses hydraulic pressure to fabricate interlocking building blocks out of nonhazardous urban-industrial wastes, billions tons of which pile up on plant sites and in landfills all around the world every year . . .
The RamRock™ system customizes block production for each individual structure via an automated process that specifies the exact location of every block and block type in every course of every wall, our standard full-size block looking like this . . .
. . . its smaller increments looking like this . . .
The vertical "chases" that run through each block are specifically designed for running water lines and electrical wiring, as well as high-wind tie-downs that secure the foundation to the roof, thereby creating a monolithic, massively strong structure . . .
. . . that is also:
• a single, unified wall system for use below-grade and -above, single- and multistory,
• highly resistant to fire and wind damage, projectile penetration, insect infestation, and sound infiltration,
• tree-free, saving not only forests but whole ecosystems,
• carbon neutral, if not carbon negative,
• highly energy efficient, our exterior "cavity" wall sandwiching a layer of thermally resistant insulation (in this case loose-fill cellulose made out of recycled newsprint) between two layers of RamRock™ thermal mass . . .
• adaptable to virtually any architectural style and all sectors of the market — residential, commercial, institutional, and industrial.
Once programmed for the job at hand, the RamRocket™ fabricates each block type directly on the building site in the exact number needed, and the blocks are then laid in a process that's so simple, it would be child's play . . .
. . . were it not for the fact RamRock™ isn't a toy but a very grownup, earth-friendly, and human-kind way to build . . .
As for the RamRocket™ itself, it obviously looks something like the Space Shuttle. That's not intentional, however, but coincidental, as we're really just letting form follow function, the machine's internal workings dictating its external contours, based on the work we've done so far on an old compressed-earth block machine that we retrofitted in our initial proof of concept.
Schematizing the contours you see here . . .
. . . we simply put a skin on them . . .
. . . resulting in the finished product pictured above.
Will the machine look exactly as pictured? No, as there are countless design modifications to be made, including compartmentalizing the exterior for internal access. But again, as we are merely letting form follow function, you can understand why we are calling it the RamRocket™.
Who Are We?
We are RamRock™ Building Systems, LLC, a dedicated group of eco-entrepreneurs with over 75 years of construction experience alone, along with decades more of mechanical, structural, software, and chemical engineering, as well as decades more of business, finance, and even conservation-based real estate development.
From left to right: Don Wallis, board member and chief Operating officer; Larry Cloud, mechanical engineer; Harry Hawkins, software engineer; Chris Moore, board member; Dave Houseman, business & financial consultant; David White, board chairman and chief executive officer; Peter Steyn, chief chemist; Chad Barron, technician; Doug Onbey, chief technician; Lee Robertson, board member; Bailey White, team videographer.
What Do We Need?
With our initial proof of concept successfully concluded, we need $250,000 for the design/build of the first RamRocket™. And we need your help in order to do so, mindful that whatever you pledge, your credit card will not be charged until and unless we reach our goal.
Because, as Kickstarter itself has said, "Seeing the guts of your creative process is important. We love that stuff." And as you obviously wouldn't be reading this if you didn't feel the same way, we have done our best to to let you see our guts, the question is how many of you want to help us complete the process and revolutionize the way we build.

Risks and challenges
The primary risk is that, for whatever reason, we are unable to take what we have learned so far and build a commercial-grade machine that looks something like what we've presented and, more importantly, performs as intended. We see this risk as minimal, however, given the success we've had so far and the preliminary design work we've already done, confident that the expertise we've brought to bear on the endeavor to date will be sufficient to successfully complete the task at hand.
The challenge will be to do so in a timely manner, meaning within the nine-month timeframe we've allotted ourselves. We think we've given ourselves enough leeway, however, that we aren't over-promising in this or any other regard.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
