This musical voyage will take you through a plethora of different styles, genres and languages in a wonderful ode to diversity: from a lullaby with eastern influences so an overture with Arabic flavor; from a blues gospel ballad to a traditional Chinese ballad, a fado, a Catalan habanera, a romanza without words, a pop song, an orchestral overture, a choral hymn … All of them with tender and songlike tunes.
Every single song has its roots in a beautiful and/or touching story that is elaborated upon in the record, such as, for instance, the cradle song I composed for our daughter while she was still in the orphanage or the official song for the NGO "Morning Tears" or the songs written to work the resilience of the Morning Tears children among many others.
11 prestigious singers (3 of them already recorded), 3 wonderful classical orchestras (Western and Chinese already recorded and only pending of Arabic) and 3 amazing choirs (Canadian and Chilean already recorded and only pending of Chinese) from all over the world are participating in the project, which will be recorded in the best studios, through optimum professional methods.

The Morning Bridges is pure love: love towards music, towards what it means, towards what it creates.
Pure love towards the acoustic instruments: classical and etnics and to their lovely soundness.
Pure love towards Art, including, in the rewards, watercolors, paintings, photographs and an Art Book.
In 2005, before travelling to China to meet out daughter, I composed a lullaby for her. A Chinese friend (Li Fei 李菲) translated it and helped my wife and I with the pronunciation and we recorded it both in Catalan and Chinese.
Our intention was that by listening to the song in the orphanage, she could get used to our voices and thus, when she faced painful moments, the song could serve us as one more tool to mitigate her anxiety.
In 2008, I got in contact with Luo Tong 罗彤 (Shanghai), the executive producer of the valuable documentary A Farewell Song which shows the preparations for the farewell concert of different brilliant musicians specialised in Chinese traditional instruments.
My intention was that someday I could be able to listen to this lullaby performed with Chinese traditional instruments as it was something I had been longing for since in the middle of the adoption trip I came across the documentary. Luo Tong presented them the idea and Luo Shoucheng 羅守誠 (a great player of “dizi” and “xiao”, two Chinese bamboo flutes) embraced the idea enthusiastically.
In parallel, thanks to my connection to independent audiovisual projects, I had worked on compositions infused with cross-cultural influences. And then it started to take shape what at first had seemed to be a utopia: to produce my own album which meant to be a bridge across cultures, to bolster up my daughter’s love for her origins and to serve me as a sort of legacy of values I would like to transmit to her as her father.
Then, once Luo Shoucheng 羅守誠 decided to help me, I had the chance to gather all the artists of this wonderful dream team who, one by one, joined the project.
The Morning Bridges double music album includes 16 different songs. Some of them will be versioned in different languages to get 31 tracks in total (more than 140 minutes of music).
You can listen to a draft version of each them an read additional info here:
PLEASE, REMEMBER THAT ALL THEY ARE DRAFTS!! All songs have been or will be recorded again with the performers listed below. If you like these drafts, I am sure the final versions, with wonderful real singers and musicians will take you deeply!!!
Please, keep in mind that Budapest Art Orchestra, Little Giant Chinese Orchestra, Camerata Vocal Universidad de Chile, Kokopelli Choir, Aria Christian, Gemma Abrié and Lara Bello have been already recorded!!
If you pay attention to the Updates I will publish throughout this campaign on a daily basis, you will discover the beautiful story that lies behind every song as well as other texts, lovingly written by me to allow you to enjoy this project to the fullest. If you find these stories touching, I would appreciate it if you helped spread the word.
As you know, Kickstarter doesn't allow to buy more than one reward with the same user account. If you are interested in getting more than one reward, we propose to you an easy solution:
1. Decide which are the rewards you want
2. Estimate the total amount of the pledges
3. Buy the reward with the upper price pledging for the total amount of the rewards that you want.
Once the campaign is closed, we will send to you a survey to allow you to indicate us the list of rewards which you are interested in.
For instance: I want the double CD (€39), signed (€19) and gift wrapped (€25) + the print art of the disc cover watercolor (99€), I will buy the reward pledging €182 (39+19+25+99) plus the shipping costs.
Due to the fact that the abovementioned solution does not allow us to automatically control our stocks of limited edition packs or rewards (insofar as a limited edition reward may be included in another reward), we have come up with the following solution: numbered and limited edition rewards will not have a set amount; rather, the series will close with the number of purchases obtained during the Kickstarter campaign.
In other words, for instance, if there is demand for a grand total of 2.000 CDs in this campaign, the "Kickstarter" edition will be limited to a run of 2.000 discs (plus the pledged units as per standard industry procedures).
This will allow any user to acquire several limited edition packs or rewards without inconsistencies in the number of units.
Once the campaign is over, we will publish the exact amount of every limited and numbered edition packs, thus offering a public guarantee of the exact amount of every such pack that will be published.
You will only have to create a different user account if you wish to purchase the Early Bird rewards and also any Experience reward and/or the Customized CD edition.
All rewards will be shipped by registered letter, return receipt requested. Thus, both parts will be able of checking the traceability of the shipping from our place to yours!
Since a picture is worth a thousand words, we have crafted real prototypes for each reward. This has allowed us to gain insight on the production process before launching the campaign; this has given us an idea of what we could and couldn't offer, manufacturing delays, detecting risks and key factors, etc.).
The gift wrap is a box made from recycled cardboard, with the logo printed with black ink on the inside and outside. Once it has been closed, the box is then decorated with black or red raffia yarn tied in a bow and a tag that reads "Thank you: you made it happen" (the words "thank you" are also written in several languages on the rounded border of the tag).
The box can therefore be reused in the future to keep mementos, for instance. Rewards larger than a CD and smaller than 30cm x 30cm will be packed in a similar box, scaled up to size.
The charming card designed by Mònica Espinosa, in keeping with the the spirit of the "bridge" connecting mountains, will be customized with a handwritten note by Ramon Gallifa (or by Mònica Espinosa, if you prefer) up to 30 words in length. This will allow you to give your reward to that special someone with an equally special dedication and little gift.
If you enjoy playing or analyzing music while listening to it, this will provide you with the full scores for all of the songs on the disc in pdf files.
All of our Print Art items will be manufactured by Còpialab with Giclée Print (a technique that provides a nigh-perfect replica of the original, even on textured paper, maintaining its features for at least 100 years). We will use Hahnemühle German Etching paper (310 g/m2, α-Cellulose · white).
All of our Print Art also includes an embossed stamp on the bottom left corner with the The Morning Bridges official logo (the same logo that appears at the beginning of this page, on the gift wrap boxes and on the watermark for the sheet music).
This beautiful 25cm x 28cm watercolor painting by Mònica Espinosa has been used for the cover of the CD and to parts of the corporate image of the project (designed by Lluís Domingo). You may gift a signed and numbered Giclée Print copy with a certificate of authenticity to whoever you like. Remember that you can top off this special gift with a handmade card by Mònica!!
Based on her beautiful watercolor painting, Mònica Espinosa has painted a series of watercolors based on the same motif so that you may give an original copy of this beautiful work to that special someone. The paper is 25cm x 28cm, 350gms/m2 with a wattle finish, handcrafted by Eskulan, 80% linen and 20% cotton composition) with an embossed stamp of the project logo, and they are numbered, signed, and provided with a certificate of authenticity.
The Art Book includes a luxury edition of all "literary" or "special"-themed updates (how we came up with the idea of producing this disc, the stories behind every song or the stories they are based on, personal thoughts on the project...) which we will publish throughout the campaign, designed by Lluís Domingo.
The photograph or picture that originally accompanied each updated will also be included, integrated into their respective updates. Moreover, a reproduction of a photograph of Gemma Miralda and one of Mustafa Qadduri printed on photographic paper.
It will feature artistic input by Mònica Espinosa in the form of printed patterns and a composition with miniature photographs of the series of watercolor paintings she made for the disc jacket.
All of the pages in the Art Book are indexed and encoded, but they will NOT be bound. This is a deliberate decision to allow you to change their order or use them separately as you see fit.
The pages of the different sections in the Art Book will be separated or grouped together through open folders made from different handcraft papers from the world over (the Philippines, Nepal, etc.) provided by Eskulan.
In order to prevent its contents from being scattered or damaged, the Art Book will be delivered with a hard cardboard folder/cover designed by Lluís Domingo, based on the painting by Mònica Espinosa, as well as a dust jacket made by Mar Sansano from Piñatex, an innovative, sustainable and environmentally-friendly leather substitute made from pineapple palm tree leaves.
Although we already have recorded -and covered the costs of- 2 orchestras (Budapest Art Orchestra and Little GIant Chinese Orchestra), 2 choirs (Camerata Vocal Universidad de Chile and Kokopelli choir) and 3 vocalists (Aria Christian, Gemma Abrié and Lara Bello), we still need to record the Arabic orchestra, the Chinese choir and 8 vocalists and the whole postproduction.
The vocal soloists are participating in a cooperative way: they will not charge fee but a percentage of the gross income. However, as they are based in different cities and countries, to get the same "color" of their recordings we decided to bet for meeting all them at the legendary Rafa Sardina's recording studio "After Hours", in Los Angeles (USA).
It means that we must cover the costs of the singers airfares and accommodation from their cities to LA (USA).
Besides, as you can see through the photos, all the rewards are made with our best and greatest love to you, but it again means that costs are higher than other options...
Finally, it is important to add that all the rewards will be made in my country, offering jobs to local people instead of relocating the production to offshore or low-coast places.
Thank you again in advance for your trust and support!!!!
Here are the improvements we have thought to gift you if we reach the goals.
We we'll share with all backers a mp3 file of this song, exactly as the final CD version is but without the choir part. Then, if you are a choir member can do your own version of this song!

Risks and challenges
COMMITMENT: as you may imagine, I am absolutely committed to this project.
Firstly, because it is the dream of any composer worth his salt (and it is most certainly mine) to have the chance to listen to his or her works played by orchestras, choirs and soloists such as those that will participate in this project.
Secondly, because my professional future in the music world hinges entirely on this project. Due to all of the above, I believe it is obvious that I will do my utmost for the project to succeed as well as possible.
PRODUCTION: owing to the large number of musical ensembles and soloists involved, the project might run into some unexpected setbacks (for instance, if a soloist were to feel indisposed at the time he or she was supposed to be recording) which we will attempt to solve as best as possible without affecting our schedule.
PRODUCTION AND DELAYS: we will largely depend on third parties or partners, which always involves a risk. Nevertheless, you may rest assured that the prototypes have already been manufactured, and we have therefore gained precious insight into the manufacturing costs and delays.
Nevertheless, we should keep in mind that we are currently unable to estimate the amounts of the different rewards. Signing 100 CDs is one thing, but signing 1000 is quite another; the same goes for watercolor paintings, etc. Therefore, deliveries may vary based on the demand for the various rewards.
