About this project
HELP US BRING THIS BOOK TO LIFE!
A generous team of photographers, designers, and editors have donated their talents to create this book, which has allowed this campaign goal of $7k to be set solely to cover the cost of printing 250 copies of its first edition.
Without your contributions, this project will gather digital dust in various files across our computers. Please don't let this happen (we're allergic to digital dust!).
Thank you so much for supporting this project.

THE BACKSTORY: IT BEGAN AT A MONASTERY IN THE DESERT...
I had not spoken in weeks. It was the spring of 2014 and I had recently traveled to a monastery in the high desert of New Mexico to escape the prose of religion and embrace the pure poetry of spirituality. The brothers and I were in the midst of observing 40 days of silence during the Lenten season when Father Andrew approached me with a Scottish Gaelic dictionary. He opened to a crowded page and motioned to a single word. I followed his finger and saw my name: Dane. My eyes widened with wonder, but it was the word’s definition that caused them to fill with joyful tears. It read: poem. He then pointed up to me and broke his vow of silence to mutter, "That's you! Your name is poem."
THE GUY NAMED POEM, GET TO KNOW HIM
Hi there. I'm Dane Johnson and I'm a freelance writer, musician, and explorer based in Northern California.
As a lyricist, I've been fortunate enough to write and record three album's worth of music with my band The Music Room.
As a poet, my heart and mind work together to interpret the wonders of our world through writing. My favorite themes to write about involve spirituality, mystery, and chasing down curiosity as if living a meaningful life depends on it.
This book means a lot to me. Though definitely not the final chapter, it feels likes the completion of one.
I would be utterly delighted if you found some delight in them.
DON'T JUDGE THIS BOOK BY ITS COVER, HAVE A LOOK INSIDE:
The poems selected for Rambles were written over the course of a 200-day writing challenge, which saw me create nearly 200 poems. After the challenge was over, a small team of writers and editors helped select the most inspired writings. Here are the titles of their selections:
WHOSE HANDWRITING IS THAT?
Not mine. All titles throughout the book, as well as the lovely cover title artistry, were hand-lettered by Ali Nelson.
