Just to re-iterate: Things the backers have not gotten as of almost 3 years AFTER the agreed upon release date:
"Your own digital copy of the short after its release" (still waiting)
"access to a pre-release internet screening of the short" (never happened; was changed to "if you want to see this BEFORE those who were supposed to see BEFORE the others, you have to shell out MORE money")
"Full Digital Package along with a signed DVD of "Last Days of Coney Island" upon it's release" (again, never happened as of February 2016)
So, for my $65 contribution (actually make that $70 thanks to the Vimeo extortion), I received a color copy of a poster & a doodle. Also a 24 hour viewing period well after the rules were changed & people who wanted to see the short were forced to pay more. Seems a bit off compared to what was promised.
Again, anyone reading this, understand I am only posting this after 4 or 5 unanswered messages asking about the status of the project. For an artist who spent the majority of his career talkign about how he was screwed by everyone, I expect for the same not to happen to those who bother to support his work.
Out of respect, I have sent multiple messages to Ralph before posting this. May 2013 was the expected date that we would finally receive our rewards for supporting the project. I understand it ended up being much more ambitious & patiently waited until it was finished. When the project was finished 2 years after the target date, how were the supporters rewarded? By being told if they wanted to watch what we had already paid to see & what was delivered grossly outside of the projected window, that we had to shell out additional money to do so through VOD, or we could continue to wait even longer until the codes were finally sent out. Even got suckered into paying again to see it since the game was changed to where those of us who supported the project had to wait until after those who paid a couple dollars, which didn't sit well, but again, I paid yet more money to support the project. Now, almost 3 years after we were supposed to get our DVDs we paid for, & after being suckered into paying extra to watch VOD, with more attempts to shill the project for additional money (thankfully I did not bite those times) & even after multiple attempts at contacting Ralph & being ignored, I am starting to think that we will never receive the rewards we paid for & were promised. Not trying to be a dick, but exactly how long should one expect to sit idly by & not say anything? It is now January 2016 & no mention of the DVD even existing at this point. I'm assuming this public call out will change nothing, but it really is saying something that an artist that I have continued to financially support over the years would do something like this. Please show the same respect to those of us who shelled out our hard earned money to support your art that we showed to you over the years & deliver what you have promised. It is the least you could do, especially after such a long wait & particularly if you ever expect someone to support you in the future. Frustrated but still a fan (for the time being).
You know, if anyone was this late delivering for Ralph back in the day, they'd have been fired on the spot. If sending out a digital copy of the film is too much for you guys to handle, can I just get my money refunded? I'll gladly send you the cel back. Thanks.
Given how prompt and orderly the physical rewards were sent out, you'd think sending out an access code wouldn't take two months...
Another kickstarter campaign where the backers are getting screwed...
My 100.00 dollar pledge says I am to receive the full digital package.....where is it?????
I want my reward....the backers deserve their reward.....NOW!!!!!!!
I'm curious, what happened to the full digital package?
When is the VOD time period up? I'm curious when I'll be getting my digital copy?
Cool, so we get our codes three weeks after the movie is released, and they're for 24-hour rentals only. Good to know that you appreciate your backers.
PLEASE READ UPDATES
But the reward says we're supposed to get to see it first...
Backers won't be seeing it for another few months, unless they want to pony up the fiver to watch it on Vimeo. Cause, ya know, that's totally fair for us fuckin' assholes that already paid to get this made.
This is out on Vimeo, but I haven't gotten anything. Has anyone else?
An update would be great. Super curious about how it's going.
Got any updates?! It's been a very, very long time since we've heard anything.
What is going on!?
How about an update? It's been 5 months.
any updates on the project? it been a while since there been a post on this kickstarter page.
Thanks for writing. Let us clarify:
The DVD will ship after the short is completed, and after it runs on Video-on-Demand on Ralphbakshi.com. The short will not be complete for several months. At that time, you will also receive a link to download the short. All backers at $10 and above will get to see the short, for a limited time, before its release on ralphbakshi.com. The May estimate was for the remaining elements of the digital package: wallpaper downloads, access to the video blog, and a thank you email. If you have not received any of these, please message us and we will resend the links to you.
We are posting new updates for Last Days of Coney Island on our Facebook Page. Please follow us there to view these:
Bakshi Productions, Inc.
Received drawing but no dvd. Is the dvd ready yet? I know last update was months ago. What about digital download? Is that been delayed from May estimate or did I not receive it and it was sent out? If that's the case can I get tracking number or something thanks.
Recently received my doodle and poster. Thanks.

I don't know where else to post this, but registration at the Ralph Bakshi forum has been broken for at least a few months. Can someone please let the forum administrator know about that? Thanks.
If you need to email me for any reason you can reach me at firstname.lastname@example.org
Like if you want some help with the cartoon or something.
Hey, I just got an email that I need to respond with info, but when I click the link it just takes me to the homepage. Can you resend it?
Also, if you still have a spare critique it would be grateful to take it.
Just got the survey for my doodle. Was starting to get worried but didn't want to complain until it was actually late.
I just received today my copy of the Wizards poster and signed Bluray, and although everything appears to have made it through unscathed it looks like there was no Bluray disc inside of the signed Wizards case. I've double checked the packaging and there's nowhere for it to have fallen out, and the package didn't show any signs of tampering so it looks like it was empty at the time of shipment. If you have a spare Bluray of Wizards with no case for it, I think you may have found my disc.
Today I received my WIZARDS cel. Wow, this thing is just great! The parcel got stuck at german customs though. I had to pay some additive tax. No problem, it was worth it. The problem was explaining Kickstarter, animation cel, what is reproduction and what an original piece of art to the anal-retentive customs official. He wanted 19% + X , but I managed to buy my way out for an additive tax of 7%. Damn, that was one of the bleakest places I have ever been. So if anybody has the same problem with german customs: Don't pay more sales tax than the reduced 7%. (If your tax official believes / understands that the cell is a gift, you probably don't have to pay anything.)
Now I am even more happy to own an original animation cel of my favorite movie WIZARDS. And I also love the doodle and the poster. And I'd like to show even more appreciation: You guys at Bakshi Productions delivered exactly the scene that I asked for. Thank you so much!
I can't wait to see LAST DAYS and wish everybody at Bakshi Production much fun working on it!
Just received my signed Wizards BD, Doodle and Poster :D
I saw a 35mm print of Coonskin the other week and it made me extremely excited to get my cel. Thanks to Ralph for continuing his legacy of groundbreaking animation and thanks to all the backers for helping to make this happen! I've been itching for new Bakshi material, and can't wait to see the finished product.
I pledged at $200, I was asked to pick the film I wanted to get my cel from, but not which characters I wanted. Do I get a choice?
Could've sworn I updated my pledge to $35 so I would get a doodle on a card. But maybe it didn't go through? Can I send you the extra $25 somehow so I can achieve this level of backing please?
Congrats on project funding, Ralph. Proud to be a part of it.
"They've killed Fritz! Those lousy stinking yellow fairies! Those horrible atrocity-filled vermin! Those despicable animal warmongers! They've killed Fritz! Take that! Take this! Take that, you green slime!"
So many congratulations, your work was such a big part of my adolescence, and it helped inform the way I write now. I'm really looking forward to seeing what happens, good on you and all the other people working on and backing this project!
Congrats all around. Can't wait to see Last Days, it's exactly the kind of thing I want to see from Ralph Bakshi. I'm going to display my doodle with pride.
Congratulations, from a life-long, die-hard Wizards fan!! Can't wait to enjoy more of your work...
congrats!!! <3 this project
Yeah!!! Congratulations Ralph,You made it (-:
This is a dream come true, Mr. Bakshi. For you, as well as for a lot of people. You truly are someone who deserves it and will use the money the right way! Can't wait to see your short. I only hope if your free you check out my campaign in two weeks for the portmanteau film The Blue Plate Special. Not trying to advertise, though, because you are one of my idols and I'm just so happy I could be apart of your next masterpiece, even a small part.
More companies should be begging you to make films, everything you've made in my mind has remained timeless. Your rotoscoping is done in a way that is so perfect, it doesn't come off gimmicky, but carries the story. I'll stop I'm just so overwhelmed with happiness that your back.
Everyone raise even more money so the film can be that much better!
Silly technical question, what program are you using to animate LDCI in?
Or are you animating traditionally and scanning in the work?
Thanks for keeping it real Ralph!
I'm a traditional animator, you would like to see my work, please visit
I think you might like it on some level
