Rewards and Update

Hey there raleigh [  ] space backers!!

It's been a big month for the parklet… it's ON THE GROUND and starting to take shape. Here are some updates for you.

We have LOVED meeting those of you who have stopped by this month to collect your backer rewards. We have many bags waiting at Deco Raleigh for pick up… we'd love to see the rest of the bags go home with our backers!

If you requested a reward when you donated, we sent you an email and a letter in the mail. Your letter tells you if you have a bag waiting at Deco Raleigh-- this includes your t-shirt. The letter also mentions that we'll hang onto the goodies until October 31. We REALLY want you to have your stuff!!!

The steel frame for the parklet was installed the first week of October. You might enjoy the time-lapse video of our install here:

This month, we'll be installing tempered glass "windows" and will be framing benches and planters, which should be ready by Thanksgiving.

A few people have asked why we couldn't just knock it out in a weekend. Boy would that be a dream! Our designers and builders are all DONATING their time while they carry on the rest of their lives that include oral exams for Masters' degrees, paying jobs and teaching. We are having work days weekly, so if you want to chip in, we would LOVE to have you join us!!

We'll keep you posted over the next few weeks. Top priority for you is to grab your goodies from Deco Raleigh!! If you have questions or need help with that, please feel free to contact Pam Blondin,

Thanks again for being part of TEAM PARKLET!!

Reward Packets on the Way!

Hey raleigh [ ] space supporters… happy September!

It was a big week last week, as we submitted detailed drawings, plans, materials lists to the City of Raleigh for formal review. Special kudos go out to our Landscape Architecture team, Bob Massengale and Tyner Tew… they burned the midnight oil for several weeks. The city's committee meets this coming week and we should hear back by the end of the week… cross your fingers! Once we get approval (it could take a second round of submissions), we'll share the final plans with you!!

We've also been assembling packets of goodies for those of you who selected rewards when you made your donations. We had SO MANY incredible organizations, businesses and individuals who donated rewards… it took us a few weeks to get everything in hand.

Reward packets will contain all paper goods that are coming your way… coupons, passes, etc. Each packet will also have a personalized cover sheet with information about any items you have that need to be picked up at Deco Raleigh… this includes larger and/or more valuable items. If pick up presents a problem for you, we will DEFINITELY work with you!

Please save the date for FRIDAY, OCTOBER 3. It's First Friday, converging with Wide Open Bluegrass, so we decided to add another festive event to an already awesome evening. Our first raleigh [  ] space artists in residence will be bluegrass musicians Lynda Dawson & Pattie Hopkins, playing in our parklet space that evening--no matter how much of the parklet is built by then! And we'll have a scale model of raleigh [  ] space so we can all anticipate the finished product.

Again, accept our deepest gratitude for your support. Watch your mailbox for your rewards package.

Best wishes,

The raleigh [  ] space Team

Hello raleigh [  ] space supporters!

Today we are submitting our parklet drawings to the City of Raleigh for review. CROSS YOUR FINGERS! Once the plan is approved, we'll share it with you all. We are still on track to build in September!

For those of you who selected rewards when you pledged, we sent out a survey about 10 days ago. We have about 90% of the survey responses but are still missing a few… please take a look in your junk/spam folder if you selected a reward but didn't get your survey.

Reward packages will go out in about 2 weeks!!

Thanks again, and send good vibes for approval of our drawings.

Your Friends, the raleigh [  ] space team!

Surveys on the Way

Hey Parklet Supporter!

We just sent out surveys to manage delivery of your rewards, so when you get it, give us your info and we'll be getting your goodies together!

Please note that part of your survey asks about t-shirts. We'd LOVE to be able to GIVE everyone a shirt, but that would cost us a couple thousand dollars, and we're sure you'd prefer we spend our kickstarter proceeds on the parklet (at least we hope so!). That's why we're offering them at cost… hope you understand.

You CAN reserve a shirt in the exact style and size that you want. Otherwise your voucher will be good for a drop-in purchase while supplies and sizes last.

UPDATE: we're submitting our first drawings to the City of Raleigh THIS WEEK! We'll have a few more round of submissions, and once drawings are firmed up, we'll share them with you. Our goal is to open in September, and we're still on track.

THANKS AGAIN… get that survey done so we can get your goodies in the mail.

We did it! The raleigh [ ] space kickstarter is done and we met our goal. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!

The planning team met yesterday morning and final drawings are underway. We'll be sharing updates with you as things unfold over the next two months… it's going to be fabulous!

This week, we will start assembling your REWARD packages! Within a day or two, those of you who selected rewards will be getting a survey to make it easier for us to get those to you AND for us to customize rewards where appropriate.

In case you missed it, you helped us make the News & Observer on Friday… here's a link:

Thanks again, congratulations, and stay tuned…
