Year End Wrap-up: You've got questions, I've got answers

Hello, everyone!

I'm working on a big end-of-the-year KS update where I go over the trials and tribulations of 2013 in excruciating detail. (Yes, this is an update about an upcoming update.) It'll be a full-on video update this time, not just a text update. And I want to answer your questions!

Post your questions in the comments below

Feel free to ask me or anyone else on the team anything from specific questions about FRONTIERS development to general questions about creating a first game to inappropriate personal questions that make us all feel awkward & uncomfortable. I'll pick the most interesting posts and answer them as candidly as I can. If you need some inspiration I recommend you check out the FRONTIERS dev logs.

Where's my damn kit!?

Aaah, we're working on them, I swear! Here's the schedule as of today. The following kits have been released so if you don't see a link in your KS messages send a support email to

  • ✓ Botanist Plant Kit
  • ✓ Master Chef Recipe Kit
  • ✓ Coat of Arms Kit
  • ✓ Early Book Kit

These kits are still in the works:

  • NPC Kit (Coming this month)
  • Engineer Building Kit (Coming this month)
  • Final Book Kit (TBD)

Forget about kits, where's my [x]!?

I tend to hover around 90% completion for individual requests, so if you're part of the unfortunate minority that's waiting around for something I've promised - clarification, a screenshot, the name of your plant, $3.50, whatever - do me a solid and send a reminder to I'll make sure it gets put back on ye old to-do list.

Okay I'll save rest for the year-end update (along with more of Harrison's Warlock short stories!) but here's a tidbit of new art to hold you over for the holidays (wallpaper link):

Look for the year-end update before Jan 1st (I hope)! Enjoy the holidays!

And I shall have an answer for you, thanks!

I have a question! I understand there is a Mod API, but I am not sure if it includes the possibility of adding maps/regions/landscapes/areas/whatyoucallit. I could imagine the engine and the assets being used to create a new 'game' with totally new lands and adventures; a bit like Neverwinter Nights did (except they were tile based, they had it easy).

Thanks for the update Lars.. Wishing everyone a Great Holiday!

Kenny - short answer: it hasn't been January for a long time. I'll make sure to talk about the new release date in the update.

No other questions yet? Wow this will be an easy video. :D

Hey there, just wanted to let you know I'm really impressed with the work you've been doing!

I am curious about the general state of affairs though. I got the double pack reward and am curious how it's looking for a January release still or if some delays have come up.
I don't want to bother and am not in some sort of frenzy where I need the game now, I'm simply inquiring.
I admittedly don't follow the development too closely since I'm not a beta tester so I apologize if it's been stated somewhere else.

Thanks I'll pass that along :D

No question. Just wanted to let you (and the team!) know that you are all awesome! Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!
