Here comes Backerkit! Look for invites in your KS email later tonight!

Much as it pains me to ask you to use another system to complete your Kickstarter journey, Backerkit really is the way to go. (Take note Kickstarter - this is how it's done!)

  • If you filled out a KS survey we'll send a Backerkit invite to your Kickstarter email.
  • If you over-pledged for add-ons, Backerkit is how you'll make your choice. This is also where you can get after-the-fact add-ons, or swap them out for something different, etc. (Don't assume I already know what add-ons you want, even if you messaged me!)
  • Finishing the survey is how you get your invite. If you haven't finished your KS survey yet, do so. (If you lost your survey email, here's how to find your survey without it.
  • If you don't have/want any add-ons then this whole step is optional. (If you have a physical reward it's still helpful to confirm your shipping address, though.)

Got questions about Backerkit? Here's an FAQ for you. It's all pretty straightforward though; just follow the link on your invite when you get it and you should be fine.

PS - If you have a limited add-on (Shopkeeper or Coat of Arms) then they'll show up already added to your account. Don't delete them! :) If you ordered limited add-ons but don't see them, send me an email at

The only survey I've completed was the one asking for what name I wanted in the credits etc, and the features. I haven't received a Backerkit invite that I know of! But I wasn't planning on any extra add-ons so it doesn't matter.

    2. Lars Simkins Creator on August 10, 2013

Darryl - when you complete your survey you should get a Backerkit invite, even if you didn't over-pledge. (But you can ignore it if you don't care for any of the add-ons.)

    3. Darryl Knott on August 10, 2013

So we should only receive info on the Backerkit if we overpledged?

    4. Lars Simkins Creator on August 10, 2013

Rebecca - Go ahead and email and I'll guide you through finding it. (I promise you it's there, it just comes later.)

Brendan - Same deal, email and I'll sort it out. It's much easier to track support requests via email than the comments here.

    5. Rebecca Scalzi on August 10, 2013

It asks on the individual add-ons not the bulk pack.

    6. Brendan on August 10, 2013

@Lars yes, the limited deal is there. I'm just missing an extra add-on somewhere. I did complete it on a mobile device, might review on mac, tomorrow in case I'm missing something otherwise obvious.

Also, the limited offer store didn't include Tavern! I'm appalled. How am I supposed to serve my almost world famous mead to locals? :)

    7. Brendan on August 10, 2013

@rebecca it should, it asks part way through.

    8. Rebecca Scalzi on August 10, 2013

I mean that in Backerkit the bulk pack doesn't have anywhere to specify the type of butterfly and headstone.

    9. Socrates on August 10, 2013

Email sent and yeah I did change my email, so it was probably that.

    10. Lars Simkins Creator on August 10, 2013

Socrates - did you happen to change your Kickstarter email address at some point? (I'm looking at your account and it's kind of a confusing case.) Go ahead and email me at and we'll work it out.

    11. Socrates on August 9, 2013

Were we all supposed to have received emails from backerkit by now? I don't think I've seen anything.

    12. Lars Simkins Creator on August 9, 2013

Samir - I'm afraid you can't bump your pledge for higher rewards. This just gets too complicated. (Sorry to contradict you, Ludi.) You CAN bump your pledge for new add-ons, but the rewards are locked.

    13. Ludi on August 9, 2013

No, I believe you can still up your pledge and get more/other add-ons or a more expensive reward. You just have to register your card for the transfer of the additional amount.

    14. Lars Simkins Creator on August 9, 2013

Rebecca - Cameron's got it right, you specify everything to do with add-ons in Backerkit.

Kristy - Yup totally optional. This is JUST for folks who want to manage add-ons. You can skip it altogether and it won't affect your reward.

Simon - I find it annoying too but there's no way to shut it off. Feel free to put nonsense in the address fields, it won't affect your reward. They're obsessed with getting addresses right because 90% of their customers use their service to deliver physical goods.

Brendan - We included them as hidden add-ons, since they're limited. Hannah added them to the cart of everyone who ordered one. (If you accidentally removed it go ahead and email and we'll sort it out for you.)

    15. Cameron (BLINK) on August 9, 2013

@Rebecca, it's on BackerKit. Go down to 'Add-Ons' and if the choice isn't there already, click edit and you'll see them on the left side of the screen. Choose them and submit it :)

    16. Samir Krey on August 9, 2013

Its to late to up my pledge isnt it I would like to up it to 15 - 25

    17. Rebecca Scalzi on August 9, 2013

I got the bulk pack for add-ons. How do I specify what butterfly and headstone I want?

@Revisor You could just type n/a in the address fields - worked for me.

@Kristy Vidal You don't need to create an account to complete the Backerkit forms. It knows who you are from the link in the e-mail Lars sends you. I think it only needs a password if you want to go back in and edit your answers, in which case you would have to ask for a password reset (it already knows your e-mail), but I didn't need one for my first, and hopefully, only run through.

I too am wondering why I need to fill out my adress when I only have the $15 reward tier.

    20. Missing avatar

      StefanMajonez on August 9, 2013

Kristy Vidal It doesn't work like that. The link you receive in the e-mail already has your account tied to it and all you need to do it complete the survey!

    21. Brendan on August 9, 2013

Wait, no my bad. It's there. I seem to be up $20. Will have to work it out.

    22. Brendan on August 9, 2013

Lars, you appear to be missing the "own a shop" limited reward from backerit. Was that intentional?

    23. Missing avatar

      Revisor on August 9, 2013

Why do you need my address, Lars? I only backed a fully digital tier and cannot skip the address form.

Other projects using Backerkit didn't ask this information from me.

I really don't like signing up to too many sites. I don't plan on making an account with Backerit. Can I still expect my reward?

    25. Mark Shaun Rushow on August 8, 2013

I can't remember if I ever received one in my e-mail to fill out or not!

    26. Lars Simkins Creator on August 8, 2013

      >Form doesn't work :(

Sorry for the trouble, guys! There was a bug with the fields but it's been fixed. If you're still having trouble email, that's our support email and Hannah & I are watching it like hawks.

      >Why is it that on the backerkit, the survey questions say not answered yet?

I just looked at your survey and it says you completed it on July 31st. So I'm not sure in your case - I'm looking into it now.

For anyone else not seeing their survey questions answered - questions can only sync once a day (at least that's what Backerkit tells us) so they may not have carried over if you filled it out recently. They should show up as completed after the next sync.

      Lars - Alrighty. Thanks :)

    28. Shane Ching on August 8, 2013

      Form doesn't work :(.
Does not accept new Zealand in the combo box!!!

    29. Joshua Bliss on August 8, 2013

Why is it that on the backerkit, the survey questions say not answered yet?

    30. Wally on August 8, 2013

      Ah, found IT!

    31. Lars Simkins Creator on August 8, 2013

Mike - If you don't have / want any add-ons then yes, this whole step is optional.

Oooh, almost missed the cat video in this update. Very sneaky! :3
