Hello, everyone and WELCOME to all new backers! I'll keep this short and sweet because we've got a big post-campaign update coming:

We've just hit our FINAL STRETCH GOAL!

AKA the Serious Business stretch goal. Why are you celebrating? Stop dancing, this is serious business. I SAID THIS IS SERIOUS! Okay, here's how this stretch goal works:

  • You will submit feature requests. It can be anything - let your imagination run wild.
  • I will go over those requests, merge similar features and compile everything into a master list.
  • When the backer's survey is sent out in August, you'll vote for the features you want most.
  • The top 3 most-requested features will end up in the final game!

What kinds of feature requests are allowed?

It's literally impossible for me to predict what people will ask for. So let's not worry about rules just yet* - for now just submit the features you want no matter how implausible, and if it's something that's impossible for technical reasons or if it breaks the game for tone / lore / gameplay reasons, I'll mark it as vetoed and explain my reasoning. (You'll have the option to resubmit altered requests as well.)

(*Actually I just thought of one - this is everybody's party so features related to add-ons and limited rewards aren't on the menu.)

Won't this break the game?

I won't let that happen - requests that compromise core features will be left out. I definitely want you all to have fun with this and I'm happy to honor unexpected / unusual requests, but that doesn't extend to ruining the game. So don't worry! FRONTIERS will remain My-Little-Pony-free. :D

When's the deadline?

Feature requests have to be submitted by August 5th or they won't make it into the survey. (I've added this deadline to the backer's calendar)

Submit as many as you like! Just makes sure to put a bit of effort into the descriptions, and do check the spreadsheet to see if your feature is there before submitting - the fewer redundant entries I have to merge the happier you'll make me. :D

      So many great suggestions! I fear i need to abstain from voting - I would feel bad about the features I would be partly responsible for being voted out, rather than just feel good about the features I would help vote in.

      Congratulations on the funding Lars! I'm really looking forward to playing it.

      Also, I agree with Kevin - Underwater exploration sounds perfect for an expansion pack in the future:)

      Hey Kevin - Yeah it's solely an issue of time / resources. I love underwater and it's obviously PERFECT for an exploration game, but it is really disruptive to region design and requires a lot of additional assets to do right.

      Sad to see underwater is taken off the table as it fits the exploration theme, just does not fit your lore that you created to avoid the burden of underwater in the first place solely for time/resource reasons. But anyone that loves hiking also would love scuba, so here is my pitch to get undersea.

      Rather than handing it over to modders, reserve the underwater for a future expansion pack so that you do not have to overwrite their work later. If mods want to do underwater, they need their own map as it is not canonical lore.

      There is a way to do it in my limited knowledge of lore, its those despised magicians went off the trail and figured out how to breathe underwater (alchemy pots - like in Morrowind) and tame the fishes. So they have been there all along and they are the ones responsible for blazing underwater trails and spreading rumours of killer whales to keep people away, and they represent a threat to the established land trail way of doing things. You are recruited to go underwater and end up siding with them.

      Congratulations! Three things I would like to suggest are playable lizard men, reallistic underwater exploration and trees which you can chop down.

      Congrats on going beyond the final target mate!
      Excited to be on board and looking forward to seeing how the game progresses.

      Can definitely relate to a lot of your history so I wish you and eventual 'team' the best of luck.

      Wow, so many great suggestions already! I really like Christopher Dillon's suggestion of tides revealing/concealing stuff, and the possibility of getting marooned somewhere by the incoming tide if you're not careful, or at least making egress rather harder than it would otherwise be.

      My own choice - as much cat-related stuff as possible pls :-)

      Casey - the pink ones are features that are 'vetoed' from the list because they're already a feature. So no need to vote!

      The darker pink/red ones are features that are vetoed because they break the game somehow, or are impossible to implement.

      Haha, some of the suggestions I'm seeing seem to be from fans of very hardcore realistic survival stuff. I dunno, I feel like making the player properly butcher animals, filter water, and maintain their temperature could break the flow and make the exploration feel like a chore.

      I would like to request dedicated servers, but my english isn't good enough to write a good request.
      If someone is also interested in dedicated servers, to form communities and to have an go-to-address, i would appreciate it if someone could write a nice request.
      Would be later merged by Lars Simkins with my bland request, hopefully.

      I just scrambled to add a 'Click here to add a feature' entry in the top table, hopefully I was quick enough to avoid too much confusion... apologies to anyone who was wondering where the hell you were supposed to enter features!
