Final Chapter Teasing - Backer Likeness Visuals
We are heads down, plowing our way toward the finish line... but its time to come up for air to show you a bit of what we've been up to. As has been mentioned before, we are working on the final chapter of the game and as such, don't want to reveal too much. BUT we have a few tidbits to share. If you are super sensitive to spoilers you may want to skip this update. If not, read on!
We are currently knee deep in the final chapter of the game. We had hoped to be wrapping this chapter up right around now, but as has become customary with the development of Ray's the Dead we are a bit behind. We are now hoping to put a bow on this chapter toward the end of next month. After that, we move into the final polish / playtesting phase.
The final chapter brings with it a big change in the landscape... snow.
Winter has come and a blanket of snow has descended upon the land. We have put a lot of time into transforming the world into a frosty snowscape.
Roads badly in need of a snow plow, icy rivers flowing. Nothing has escaped winter's chilly embrace.
The snow absolutely impacts the game play in these levels, but we are going to keep exactly how that works to ourselves for now!
Another aspect of the final chapter we can reveal is that mass destruction does indeed take place. In order to fully support this, our artist Matt has been working with our contractors came up with a really nifty shader to give us total control over the condition of our skyscrapers.
We have a little slider called "building destruction" that allows us to bring a towering skyscraper to the ground with a flick of the wrist!
If you look closely you can even see the individual bricks glowing as the fire consumes them.
And of course, if we can burn the buildings so easily, we can have a little fun and unburn them as well!
Backer Likeness Visuals
Some of our very generous backers received their in-game likeness as a reward. We have begun production on their character models, and have a few of Matt's preliminary sketches to share.
Backers were given the choice of being turned into a zombie or a human in the style of Ray's the Dead. Here are a few of the results!
New Musician Revealed!
Calling France home is Damien Rougier aka Satori In Bed. He has contributed four incredible tracks to our soundtrack. His music is perfectly themed to our game and his range is incredibly broad. His tracks appear during tender moments, during intense boss fights, and everything in between.
That brings us to the end of this update. As always, we want to extend a huge thank you for your continued patience and support of Ray's The Dead.
