Hello backers!

It's Friday the 13th! A great day for another update wouldn't you say? Lets jump right in!

Quick Progress Update

Progress continues! We are a matter of days away from wrapping up Chapter 4 and moving on to the final chapter in the game. We have a small army of contractors cranking out environment and character assets. Gameplay and story is being finalized left and right. Small cuts are made here, polish is being applied there...

As mentioned before, because we are working in the late chapters of the game, much of what we have been working on is hard to reveal, but lets see what we can dig up...

Alternate Ray Skins

You may recall wwwwway back during our Kickstarter that we would be including alternate Ray skins if you backed the game at a certain level. It is time to start showing a couple of these off!

These are purely cosmetic, but you'll be able to play through the entire game in alternate costumes. Its really awesome to give Ray a totally different look!

Though we are only showing two today, we have 6 different skins that will be available at launch. Currently the only way to get them is if you had backed the game at a certain tier. However, we will be looking at other ways to get these into your hands. 

We really like how these turned out and would like to make more. If you have any suggestions for additional skins please leave them in the comments!

Strategic Combat

As you cross in to the second half of Chapter 2, Ray's the Dead really starts to up the intensity when it comes to combat. One type of encounter you'll experience in Ray's the Dead are the Multi-Tasking Gate Encounters. (we really need to come up with a better name for those!)

During these encounters, you are tasked with bashing down a large obstacle that has loooots of hit points. The only way to do this is to supply a steady stream of minions to bash the gate down.

Sounds easy enough eh? Well, there are some complications! Your enemies aren't interested in letting you pass so easily. So they will continue to endlessly respawn and attack until you accomplish your goal.

The downside is that you have a lot of enemies to deal with. The bright side is that these enemies will become your minions once you take them out! As long as you kill them faster than they kill you, you'll be ok.

Its not enough to just distract them with Ray. The enemies will go and directly attack your minions at the gate! So sometimes you need to pull them off the gate and redirect your efforts elsewhere.

The key to success is to multitask by allocating your resources properly. A few minions on the gate, a few sent to attack one enemy, then using Ray to attack another usually works quite well.

While this isn't technically a boss fight, the gate does have a bar that tracks its health.

 If you can keep this up long enough, eventually you'll emerge victorious!

New Musician Revealed!

Back in October we revealed the first of four new musicians we have been working with. Today we we reveal to you the second, and that is...

Hailing from Toronto, Erik von Stackelburg is Beat Plastic. Erik's music fits perfectly into Ray's the Dead adding key emotions to a few important scenes in the game. We have licensed three incredible tracks that add tremendously to the world we've created.

Check out many great Beat Plastic tracks on their Soundcloud page, and look forward to hearing some of their tracks both in game and in the soundtrack! We are stoked to be working with Erik!

Backer Rewards

Those of you that backed Ray's the Dead at a tier that grants your likeness in game should have received an email requesting certain materials that we need to make that happen. We have received these materials from some but not all of you.

Please get those over to us as soon as you can so we can get your beautiful faces in our game!

With that, we come to the end of the update. As always, we appreciate your support, your patience, and your continued enthusiasm. 

Things never move as quickly as we like but the important thing is they continue to move in the right direction. Life happens if we like it or not and we do our best to roll with the punches. We are getting there folks!

      @Ragtag, (if you still have them) you can look at our PM conversations that I had with you. It was related to the platinum skins and getting them into my pledge. If you're interested in selling them as an add-on type, you might look there for some ideas. (but doing it post pledge manager, would take some alternate methods probably)
