This is a game of discovery and development where players send their Captains and Settlers to explore not one, but three, New Worlds - what might happen if neighbouring, parallel universes, separated by a gossamer barrier, should somehow be breached and my ship sails into your world and searches for gold in competition with your ship? Play the game and find out……
Well before we go any further ...... here, at last is a video review of the game, produced in record time by Rick Royal (Box of Delights). We are most grateful Rick!
Players don't know what terrain or discoveries they may find until landfall is made. Decisions must be made in order to best develop towns and cities, enabling gold to be sent back to the Old World where it can be invested in Arts, Science, Religion and the technology of Warfare. And yes, there is conflict (but no dice) and watch out for pirates over the horizon!
Nina & Pinta will have a giant (625 x 625 mm), full colour. cloth map as the backdrop to the New Worlds.
Twenty-one chunky land tiles will sit in their positions on the map together with a central storage triangle. There are five different terrains for each land tile and a selection of exciting Discoveries. So a different game play experience is ensured every time Nina & Pinta comes to the table.
Players will represent the Old World super powers of either Spain, Portugal, England or France. Each player will have two screens so that ships can be loaded in secret before sailing into the unknown, whilst treasuries of gold are kept hidden from the prying eyes of opponents!
What's in the Box?
Solo Game video
We will post rule-sets on BoardGameGeek as they develop (ideas from supporters can help improve rules). Here is the link to the latest set:
The Settler and Town playing pieces will be made of wood, but great to have the same quality for other components.
These then are our Stretch Goals:
Join the Quantum Crew
As this is our first Quantum Game we want to celebrate its creation with an illustrated certificate that we will award to the first 100 full pledges (not the £1 pledges), irrespective of where you are in the world.
1. What is the balance between strategy and tactics in the game?
Players must be aware of the importance of the Progress Benefits and the need not only to collect a set or sets, but also the importance of making that type into a strong 'suit' by the building of Cities. At the tactical (map) level the collecting of gold is an ongoing drive, but players must also be aware of the urgency to occupy lands to allow Towns and then Cities to be built. So not just a balance of tactics and strategy, but also a balance of New and Old World developments.
2. How much luck is there in the game?
Risks and challenges
We have successfully delivered four previous Kickstarter projects and have learned a great deal about how to plan and manage all the strands of production needed to ensure quality production values that arrive on time. Fulfillment has been very good and thanks to all of you who have complimented us on our customer service standards.
We are aware of the impact that shipping costs have on potential backers and we have again decided to absorb at least half of the shipping costs for all backers. The shipping cost is included in the pledge level as shown. If you want it, we want to make it affordable!
