Two college buddies have made shotgunning beers easy, by changing the way it’s done all together. Because after all, “Keys are for doors. Not beers.”
There was simply no tool in existence that effectively shotgunned a beer can. Keys and knives left sharp edges, sprayed beer, and cut fingers.
The Beer Tusk is the patent pending product that is changing the future of shotgunning beers. The Beer Tusk cleanly creates a perfect hole with no spill or spray. Its fast, reliable, and fits on your keychain.
How It's Done:
Why We Need You:
We funded the initial development of the Beer Tusk with personal savings and were able to create a small first run of product to test the idea. We tested at a few universities around the nation. We want everyone to be able to shotgun with the Beer Tusk. At this point we need your help to produce the next round of Beer Tusks.
Every Backer will receive a Raging Mammoth Sticker and Thank You Card. Our $25 reward comes with a Raging Mammoth Pocket T-shirt (The Perfect Beer Tusk Sheath) .
We went through multiple prototypes before reaching shotgunning perfection. It took us about six different variations to finally perfect both the shotgunning and bottle opening functions. After a year of testing, through maximum exposure at college parties, tailgates, and gatherings... our tusks are still working like the day they were made.
Length: 2.91 Inches
Height: 1.01 inches
Width: .5 Inch
Material: Aluminum 6061 T6
Weight: 1 Ounce
The Beer Tusk started as an idea which lead to some initial research on current shotgunning technique. We experimented with different size openings to find the perfect size hole.
After reviewing the results, we started work on the actual Beer Tusk. Below is a picture of the first rendering of the original prototype.
After testing the first prototype, we decided to shorten the Beer Tusk and add an additional tooth to help remove a bottle cap. We also started working on the Keychain feature.
As you can see... we were a little off on our first measurements. We decided to move the tooth farther down the tusk.
After testing this prototype, the bottle opening mechanism worked but interfered with the shotgunning application. We originally envisioned the Beer Tusk opening a bottle cap using a forward rotation. After discussing the new problem, we realized that the tooth was unnecessary. Instead we could simply apply pressure using a sideways motion to remove the bottle cap. This actually worked better then the tooth idea and was much more aesthetically pleasing anyway. With the new design we began our beta test.
Our Production Process:
We currently manufacture the Beer Tusk in Phoenix, Arizona using a CNC process. We take pride in manufacturing the Beer Tusk in the United States.
Who We Are:
We are two friends that met in college. We want to change the way the world shotguns beers. We spent a year developing, prototyping, and testing the Beer Tusk. After a positive Beta test, we are ready to launch the product.
If the Beer Tusk is successfully funded the campaign will end the first week of November. We will allow a full week to receive the funds. Once we have received the funds, we will place an order for our next round of Beer Tusks. This will take approximately 2 weeks to fulfill. Our manufacturer is located an hour away so we will be personally picking up the order. We are then allowing ourselves 4 weeks to fulfill all of your orders. We believe we can fulfill the orders before the 4 weeks but realize there may be an unforseen delay in production
Risks and challenges
We currently have a manufacturer in Phoenix, Arizona that produced our Beta Round of Beer Tusks. We see no risk in producing the next round of Beer Tusks with your contributions. We are confident that we can deliver your Beer Tusks on time.
We also have a solid T-shirt and sticker manufacturer in the United States who we have worked with before.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
