This is the Buckitt bag. A simple, elegant and stylish bag for you to use every day. Importantly for us, this bag is made in England.
I was encouraged to design the Buckitt bag after becoming increasingly disillusioned by otherwise stylish women using grubby canvas totes, and even supermarket plastic bags, to carry their day-to-day belongings in.
So earlier this year, I began collaborating with a run-down British factory, just outside Manchester - near where I am originally from - to design and make a new kind of leather women's bag. Something which was smart enough to be upmarket but also tough enough to carry the groceries in.
So what's the idea? Firstly, to utilise the best of surviving British craft skills. The factory has a century of know-how working with quality leathergoods, the connections to source the best components and the experience to make the Buckitt bag. The factory has faced closure caused by its luxury fashion clients moving business overseas - so Buckitt can play a small part in keeping those increasingly rare skills alive and in the UK.
Secondly, because there is a need for another bag. Really. I have spent years working as a fashion trends analyst and there is a market gap for a bag that blends full-on functionality and style. Buckitt is my answer. It's a beautiful, durable bag that is practical enough for everyday use and smart enough for any situation; large enough to fit a laptop or gym kit, yet still lightweight; with a detachable long leather strap so that it can be worn cross body for cycling or security; and with a handy internal pocket.
Buckitt is a bag for life too - being made of the finest, most durable Italian, vegetable dyed leather not only ensures minimal environmental impact but that it will only get better looking with age. The Buckitt bag is designed to be re-conditioned and worn parts easily replaced if required. The Buckitt bag is available here as a core collection of eight colours with three accessories to match.
I am not launching Buckitt from scratch on Kickstarter. It was well received at international trade shows last season and Buckitt has secured stockists in the UK, Japan and Australia - so good demand is there. I have already built a loyal following for my own-label women's footwear brand Rae Jones - now five years old - so you can feel confident I know the industry.
Karen Radley, founder and director of the prestigious international trade show Scoop, says: "I am delighted Buckitt is showing with us this July at Scoop at the Saatchi Gallery, London. On a personal note, I am a huge Buckitt fan and will be ordering a green bag this season!"
Buckitt is aiming to make it to its target of £15,000. For every pledge you make you receive a reward: from £5 for a limited edition postcard, to £170 for our classic Buckitt One bag, to £2,500 for the super investor package. All rewards are available to Kickstarter backers at discounts well below their recommended retail prices. All will be delivered in good time for Christmas this year. Your pledges will enable Buckitt to establish itself on a firm footing, to increase production and help to create jobs. Below are images of each of Buckitt's products:

Buckitt is a small start-up, with the aim of developing further by raising funding through the crowd-sourcing platform Kickstarter. Kickstarter helps to build a community of backers, whereby fans can drive a creative project like Buckitt by pledging as little as £5 and up to £2,500 to receive rewards including leathergoods and limited-edition Buckitt bags.

Risks and challenges
Buckitt has already tested out production with an initial run for its first stockists and I am confident that all processes work well. Buckitt has worked hard to iron out teething problems already. The only challenge could be an unpredictable delay to supply chain and manufacturing processes so putting back delivery time of Buckitt products to you. But Buckitt will endeavour to get any products to you by the stated time if not sooner, and will communicate fully with you at all stages of manufacturing.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
