In all seriousness here, friends, strangers soon to be friends, people of this incredible world, I ask you this...
What would the world be like without music? WAIT! Don't imagine that, it would be so very sad! Music and art keep our world balanced. What's in store for the future of music? These are the days in which many musicians are taking matters into their own hands in order to create the art they love, share it with the world, all the while surviving (eating, sleeping with a roof over our heads...etc). Gone are the days of the major record label model. We must create a new model of "business" to get it done! How, you ask? Let's make it up!
I recently decided to release my album independently. I had some very nice people interested in helping me release it. I must recoup the costs of studio time I completed in July to these nice people and the studio before getting the tracks to mix/master them. I don't know about y'all, but I'm bustin' out the seams here to get this record out and it'd be super sweet if you could help me.TOGETHER WE CAN MAKE A SWEET RECORD!
Step one for me is launching this project to fund my DEBUT SOLO ALBUM! Since leaving the previous band I was a part of, The Shaniqua Brown, I have returned to my roots, so to say. The songs I will include on the album have been sizzlin' in this lil' brain of mine for years and now is the time for me to share them with the world! If this project is funded, I will use the funds to:
~Pay the studio for my previous recording time
~Mix/master the album
~CD production/digital distribution
~Make Merchandise (stickers/tshirts/bags/posters/etc...)
~Purchase supplies for all of my handmade goodies for YOU!
I have shot for a lower goal than needed in hopes I will get enough to at least pay the studio and manufacture the album...should I reach, or even, exceed my goal here THE RECORD WILL BE THAT MUCH MORE AMAZING!!!!! I would put the overages toward a new laptop. Mine here is on it's last leg, about to crap out completely, and I need it for booking/promo/anything everything that has to do with making this music thing work.
I have already recorded the tracks, but I am in a bit of a state of urgency to recoup the studio costs. I will remind you that if I do not reach my goal here on Kickstarter in 30 days, I will not retain a cent of the moneys in order to complete this project and...I can't give you all those sweet treats I been offering! That being said, every little bit counts! If you can't afford a dolla (totally understand-for I am in that position myself at the moment), please share my project with your friends, family, dogs, kittys, monsters, etc...! I would greatly appreciate it!
Thank you so very much. Really, Really-
So much love to you, and Ponies, flowers, rainbows, unicorns, long walks on the beach, candle lit dinners, and whatever else it is that makes you so very happy,
THANK YOU: KEVIN HANLEY, NICK D., LESLEY CARROL, JACK BURG, JUSTIN NATHANSON, JACK's DAD AND HIS FIREPLACE, BEAR RUG, FOR HELPING WITH THE OFFICIAL KICKSTARTER VIDEO!!!!!!!!!
Risks and challenges
I find the risks and challenges post funding to actually be exciting and adventurous. Tis life- things go wrong all the time and it's important to keep a positive attitude in order to overcome these obstacles. My studio art degree taught me a lot of valuable troubleshooting skills. For example, If a project in class would fall apart, I had to find a new way to reconstruct it. Same goes for making this album. I am confident in knowing I can handle any obstacle that comes my way. Say "I never said it would be easy, I only said it would be worth it! +)"
FOCUS Given my Gemini-like qualities- I tend to enjoy being involved in one hundred things at once. I love and live for so much. I will be printing/sewing/gettin' er done-ing my little heart out for you! One if the biggest challenges I think I will face is trying to handle so many tasks at once after my project is funded. Between waiting tables at the Early Bird Diner (the best diner in all the land), playing shows (in and out of town), helping other people play shows, making all my kickstarter goodies, and all of the other odd jobs I get into, it's going to be a lot of work to pull this thing off! It's a lot to handle-I'm going to really work on managing/scheduling my time to the fullest so as to complete this project to the BESTEST!
There's nothing like the feeling of setting goals and achieving them. I will not view "setbacks" as "setbacks", however as "healthy challenges that make me stronger". Stuff happens, such is life. If my project is funded I will mostly likely cry tears of joy, for I will be able to better share my music and art with the world. HEY, THERE'S SO MUCH LOVE FROM ME TO YOU!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
