Who wants a piece of R5 history? Bulky R5 prototype made in 3 months from scratch by the my own hands. I will give this Bulky R5 prototype away for a $100,000 donation that will be used for the development fund. More rewards included- send me a message.
***All donations will be refunded if goal is not met.
Imagine going to past, present, or future right from your chair. You will be able to smell, taste, feel, hear, and see as if you are there at a the location yourself, or inside another person, object, or thing. Only our Creator can truly do that, but virtually, so can you (with exceptions).
R5, your very own portable semi-present experience. Merge now. For as long as there are motion pictures, the body's five senses will be activated to a certain degree so that you can merge into the location, into the person, an object, or thing- virtually. Patent Pending.
To have an advanced portable virtual semi-present time machine experience, the R5 requires future upgrades. But at its infancy stage, it touches on the basics of the merge.
In the future, it will be possible to allow existing virtual technologies to plug into R5 or to integrate with R5, depending on partnerships for a complete portable virtual semi-present time machine.
The bulky R5 is NOT the final product.
This means that a final end product is yet to be established. The current prototype is a basic - bulky version of R5. The end goal is to make R5 lightweight and compact enough so that no head straps would be necessary. Just put on like normal glasses. (Advance - Compact version of R5)
Blueprints are established, just need development funds to begin the prototypes.
I want R5 to be affordable so that you can at least try it once. We don't make profit from selling the R5 options, but rather from codes and cartridges at affordable prices ($3.00 combo).
The goal is to make R5 cheap, yet attractive.
Here are the target prices for each R5 option to OWN:
Watch your favorite movies on the big screen with loud bass sound booming through your body. Bring the R5 with you and merge into the main character while enjoying popcorn, soda, and candy.
Enjoy the comfort of being home watching movies or TV shows with sound and the small screen. Put on the R5 and merge into the main character.
Fun times. Command actions in the virtual world. Be a hero. Do so with sound and a screen. Upgrade with R5 for a maximum experience. Note: development for gaming cartridges (very different) will be in the future, depending on funding. More funding allows quicker turnaround.
Virtual Reality - Gaming | Relaxation | Therapy
Look around the place as if you are standing in it. Amazing. Put on R5 and boom! You might feel like you are really there. Note: development for gaming cartridges (very different) will be in the future, depending on funding. More funding allows quicker turnaround.
R5 will not develop codes nor cartridges for movies that are against Christian-Values. This way, movie producers will become more aware of vulgar language and graphic sexual scenes which may be opposed to Christianity principles. Not much to lose, since there are many classics from the past that meet our requirements.
This section explains in lengthy details about R5. Please skip over it if the video was good enough.
For the curious readers, this section may interest you. Please skip this section if the video suffice. Because the video summarizes, this section explains in detail of various R5 contraptions. Note: These options describe the bulky R5 design. The final R5 will be different (much better).
The scenter is a cartridge that contains the scents. It contains a swivel nose piece to make easy adjustments under the nose.
The bulky prototype scenter is a synchronized disposable scent cartridge designed to be used in sequence with a timeline of events. This cartridge contains two foil films, the kind that wraps food, of which sandwiches the scents. Each scent is surrounded by an adhesive, preventing the scent from escaping. Once the film makes its way to the tip of the swivel nose piece, the films are separated, releasing the scent. The scent will be noticeable for about 2 seconds as it makes its way to the inside of the cartridge to be pressed against the spool to stop most of the scent from escaping.
On the back side of the film, there is a black strip. The black strip tells scenter dispenser to stop winding. This is done by the reader on the scenter dispenser.
The scenter dispenser contains an aluminum wire for a universal face fit.
There are many scents that our nose detects, other than food. Lets take a look at some to give you an idea:
Arctic Breeze, Attic, Bank Lobby, Bar-B-Que Pit, Barnyard, Beach, Boiler Room, Books, Burnt Paint, Burnt Rubber, Cabin, Campfire, Cannon Smoke, Car Oil, Cardboard, Cave, Cedar, Chainsaw, Charred Corpse, Circus Animal, City, Cleaning, Cologne, Concrete, Cut Grass, Desert, Dirt, Dust, Electric Chair, Exhaust Fuel, Farm, Flowers, Forest, Fresh Car, Fruit Trees, Furnace, Gasoline, Gun Smoke, Haunted House, Hay, Holiday Spice, Hospital, Jet Fuel, Laundry Detergent, Lawn Mower, Library, Machine Oil, Mall, Manure, Marketplace, Midnight Summer, Mildew, Mothballs, Ocean, Old House, Perfume, Pine, Poop/Fart, Rain, Rain Forest, Raw Sewage, Rocks, Rotting Decay, Skunk, Slaughter House, Snow, Solder, Spaceship, Swampy Marsh, Sweat, Teepee, Tropical , Tunnel, Urine, Volcano / Sulfur, Waterfall, Wine Cellar, Wood, Wooden Ship, Zombie
The scenter may contain 90 or more scents, but there is an artistic balance for the amount of scents dispersed within a movie time (1 hour, 2 hours, 3 hours). Just because one cartridge contains 200 scents does not mean it will be a better experience (like after eating something over and over again, there becomes a lost of wanting more).
The beauty of this is that there are different ways to smell a particular thing. For example, if you go to certain countries, the atmosphere will have a unique smell. When you eat something inside a building like your home, office, a restaurant, it may taste different than eating it outside (tastes are mostly conducted by scents). So, you won't always smell the same thing over and over, as it will change based on a situation. Rain for example, produces petrichor, but may mix with its surroundings and produce combination scents such as raining on dirt, road, in the city, jungle, on buildings, on snow, dead leaves, and etc. My point is, the single scent category won't get boring.
Scents may be artificial or natural.
The taster is a cartridge that contains flavors in edible film strips. It contains a swivel mouth aim to make easy adjustments for aiming the edible film to the mouth.
The bulky prototype taster is a synchronized disposable taste cartridge designed to be used in sequence with a timeline of events. The cartridge contains two foil films, the kind that wraps food, of which sandwiches the edible film strips. Each edible film strip is surrounded by an adhesive, preventing the flavor from oxidizing, releasing the edible film strip. The edible film will be in front of the mouth. A light will blink under the eye indicating for you to stick your tongue out. Doing so, the edible film will cling to the tongue. As you put your tongue back in the mouth, the strip goes with it. This edible film is designed to dissolve fast and to have flavor to be noticeable for about 10 second in the mouth (goal).
On the back side of the film, there is a black strip. The black strip tells taster dispenser to stop winding. This is done by the reader on the taster dispenser as demonstrated with the scenter dispenser.
The taster dispenser contains an aluminum wire for a universal face fit.
There are many flavors our mouth detects, other than just food. Lets take a look at some to give you an idea (R5 will provide pleasant flavors unless agreed upon otherwise):
wood, dust, dirt, grass, blood, metal, bugs, sand, snow, rain, ear wax, rocks, ocean water, lake, pond, swamp, mud, hay, plants of sorts, gasoline, tear drops, lipstick, crayons, pet food, glue, paper, cloth, sponge, freezer burn, ice, petroleum oil, gun smoke, medicine, finger, and more.
The taster may contain 20 or more edible film strips, but there is an artistic balance for the amount of flavors dispersed within a movie time (1 hour, 2 hours, 3 hours). Just because one cartridge contains 100 flavors does not mean it will be a better experience (like after eating something over and over again, there becomes a lost of wanting more).
The beauty of this is that there are different ways to taste a particular thing. YWhen you eat something inside a building like a home, restaurant, or office, it may taste different than eating it outside (tastes are mostly conducted by the nose). Of course, there are taste sensations of salty, sweet, sour, bitter, and savory. You won't always taste the same thing over and over, as it will change based on a situation. You might taste cheese pizza a few different ways depending on how it was made. My point is, the single taste category won't get boring.
Flavors may be artificial or natural.
The rumbler provides a physical tackle experience. May have one for one hand or two for for two hands for maximum experience.
The rumbler contains three levels of vibration motors of varying speeds and weights for high and low frequency vibrations.
There are plenty of actions that will make good use of the rumbler: shooting, explosions, cars, motorcycles, helicopters, fist fighting, swords clashing, running, crashing, hammering, pounding, jumping, catching, handling, and more.
The recoiler provides a more realistic virtual recoil effect typically provided by guns. A weight moves back and forth about 400 - 1200 rounds per minute depending on the motor to mimic a machine gun or single shots. The recoiler depends on the rumbler, of which together provides and intense physical tackle experience.
Windy, soft or hard. A breeze or blow. May mimic driving, motorcycle, weather, sky diving, falling, open window, hand fan, and more.
Airplanes flying overhead, someone talking to your right, something cracked a branch to your left, someone approaching from behind, a bat circulating around you, a bee buzzing near you, something whispering in your ear when no one is there, and etc. These sounds are added sounds for a more personalized experience. Gaming audio might be different.
- Wetness via a mist spray or a droplet. Rain, swimming, washing hands, crying, sweating, humid, splash, waterfall, and more.
- Hot temperature via an electrical heating element. Desert, weather, fire, cooking, working hard, and more.
- Cold temperature device. Winter, refrigerator, freezer, ice, space, and etc.
- Textures device. Real textures to help simulate the feeling of feeling it there.
Controls the R5 options. Wear around your wrist.
Responsible for mounting the R5 options and obeying commands from the master. The frame is a universal fit of which contains sliders to move the top hand band position over the ears.
You may just use the ones provided by the theater. If you insist, use R5 3D glasses. They allow you to flip them up whenever you want.
I can only speak of how the current bulky design works. Each theater will have a scan system at their cashier desk. You will purchase what you would like to have from the R5 menu that contain prices for codes, cartridges, and combos. The cashier will scan the barcode on your R5 code ticket or cartridge bag and the system will register the code as yours. Take also the battery that the theater lends you (this is done so that everyone that leaves the auditorium will return the battery at the exit). Then you take it to the R5 Code Station (Kiosk) and plug into your R5 controller. Scan your barcode and your download will automatically begin and complete. Inside the code, there is a stamp of which was set by that individual theater for that specific movie to play. Because there are promotional ads prior to the beginning of the movie, it is not easy to know exactly when the movie will begin. This was purposely designed to prevent counterfeits to make it difficult to pirate the time stamp without paying for codes or cartridges at the theater. If you are late for the movie, not a problem. The time stamp will be noted and the code will fast forward your cartridges to the appropriate spot of where the movie is, and skipping the other R5 options as if nothing happened.
Each movie contains a time frame. At a specific time, a code is executed by the master to make your R5 options operate.
Counterfeit and Pirate Prevention
If you use counterfeit or pirate codes or cartridges, you might be off the timeline since the time stamp changes throughout the day and only management knows it because they enter time stamp into the system. And no, unless a hacker hacked into the code system, you cannot use your cell phone to listen to a sound cue from the movie to begin at the theater. We intentionally avoided this for many reasons and left it for personal use. Why go through the hassle when it only cost $3.00 for a combo?
Because this is a plug and play like design, allowing you to experience what you want, we need to make sure we are not allowing copycats to plug their devices into R5. Doing so will make R5 loose revenue which will prevent future development. To prevent it, we will have our own patented plug and design the cartridges so that it is difficult for anyone to make a copycat and use it without violating the patent laws.
Over the course of 3 years, I envisioned different kinds of these somewhat virtual time machines. The kind you saw is a film kind. A kind that I was able to make in the basement (like where a lot of good ideas begin their journey). Just like there are different kinds of cars that take gas and electric, two different kinds. The goal is to produce the best kind and design, possibly as follows:
- The scenter will be about the size of a pinky finger;
- Motors will be tiny or none at all;
- The battery will be flat;
- The brains will be tiny;
- The rumbler will be slimmer;
- The audio will coin shaped;
- The recoilers will be smaller;
- The taster will be a different kind;
- Skip the code station;
- Cartridges designed specifically for gaming;
- Adaption to virtual reality headsets;
- And more.
Such size and weight, most likely will allow you to enjoy the R5 experience without needing head straps. Just put on like normal glasses. That's the goal.
Google Nose (Not real)
After conceptualizing my first prototype in 2015, I conducted research to see what was out there. I stumbled upon Google Nose. In 2013, Google made its yearly April Fools prank by introducing their Google Nose technology. Two months later, I think inspired by the joke, a fictional product designer pushed on showing what Google Nose looks like when worn:
Why not make it happen? I have blueprints that can meet the size shown in that fictional Google Nose, making it a reality. That is the more advanced version. However, for prototyping, that's the "size of a pinky" that I was talking about but might be a bit more spacey.
**Kickstarter prevented me to allow rewards for the actual final R5 device and any discounts associated with it.**
These two rewards benefit showing what they look like. Please see the list of rewards in the reward column.
- Handwritten Holographic Signature
- R5 Card
- Some Fragranced Paper (Scent Bursts) to Hint R5's Potential
In the box contains at least one prototype part from R5. My whole lab has many different things, not just scraps, but working condition items that are in surplus or not needed that were used in earlier versions of prototypes. I will make sure your box of scraps are interesting. Each box of scraps will be different and I will hold the scraps and take a picture doing it. I will sign the picture in marker as evidence it really came from the founder of R5.
- You also get the other things stated in the reward
Step 1- Development Fund (~6 months to complete: About June 2019)
Kickstarter fundraiser to establish the following: an experienced prototyper (engineer), commercial building for rent, office necessities, lab necessities, and contractors for industrial designing and embedded engineering. We will establish a few prototypes that are distinctively different to establish the best possible kind of R5 options for public use. Then file provisional patents and have these tested by average movie goers. Then make iterations based on the feedback and have these voted by donors like you.
Step 2- Price Tag Fund (~1 month to complete: About July 2019)
The following will be established: hire business person, contract a design for manufacturing firm, establish willing manufacturers, and lastly, contact theaters and movie producers to determine total amount of units need to be sold for them to participate. This will produce a retail price tag and knowledge of minimum units needed to be sold to make R5 public.
Step 3- Pre-sale Task Force Fund (Time Varies on Funds and Minimum Units to complete)
Establish booths in participating theaters, modified website, hire administration and sales staff, potentially hire temporary workers to be sales representatives at each booth in participating theaters, and continuously reach out to movie producers and broaden participating theater base, domestically and internationally.
In the meantime, manufacturing begins, establish a USA cartridge plant, contact fragrance and flavor producers and see what is needed to be custom made for realistic scents and flavors.
Step 4- Expansion and Future Knows What
Establish international offices, expansion of engineering team to begin gaming R5, and more.

Lack of funds, resources, skills, and outside help caused delays in the development of what you see today. Started in 2015 and garnered hundreds of pages of conceptions for R5. I was required to learn outside my skill sets and wear in figure of speech, "multiple hats." To make this possible, the following skills were needed:
- Mechanical Engineering
- Artistic Vision
- Computer Aided Drafting with Solidworks (They were nice to provide me a limited license to make this possible)
- 3D Printing (I have HICTOP and Anet 3D printers in the lab)
- KiCAD (Printed Circuit Board Drafting Software)
- Printed circuit boards (DIY from scratch)
- Electronic Engineering (determining electrical elements)
- Breadboard circuitry (testing electrical circuits)
- Operating power tools and hand tools
- Spray painting (primer, top coat, clear coat, different sheen)
- Troubleshooting with digital multi-meter and power supply
- Video recording, video editing, audio recording, and Photoshop/GIMP Software
- Business - business registration, business plan, marketing, strategy, and etc.
- Kickstarter (I'm here!)
- And more (no need to bore you.)
Imagine if I can smell that, I was thinking while watching TV. That was when I was young, a time that I liked to watch cooking shows and innovative engineering. I probably wrote the idea on paper and placed it on my invention pile until I had the money to begin. Years later, June 2015, I realized that there still isn't something out there like it widely on the market. I thought, why? Then I turned on my at-will invention brain and brainstormed.
A cassette tape player playing scents and flavors- ha! Then eventually a CD followed by digital download? Okay!
Then it really struck me as to why it probably isn't widely out there- cost. Of course, there are booming 4D cinemas across the globe that contain more than R5, but R5 is portable to allow you to bring it to participating theaters, or at home, and way cheaper. To make this short, cost varies greatly with manufacturing cost. The lower amount sold, the more expensive price tag. The more sold, the cheaper price tag. R5 business relies on selling a lot to keep the price down. That's why my strategy is to start focusing on the movie theater and home entertainment market prior to gaming- to sell a lot cheaper and get the word out quickly.
In order for a theater to be interested, they need to benefit somehow from it. Same for movie producers in order to provide early access to the timeline prior to public release. If the movie producers know that they will get more sales, they will participate in R5. And for that to work, the theater needs to participate if the movie is not on DVD yet. Theaters need to make money from it like they did with 3D glasses. I figured, well, then they will get some revenue from the cartridges at the fixed prices provided by R5 of which only the theater has access to those codes/cartridges due to the movie not available for home entertainment. Now we got a win-win-win situation. Producers, movie theaters, and possibly you are happy.

Risks and challenges
Some rewards are contingent upon R5 making it to the public market. If failed to do so, those rewards will not be provided.
Lack of funds or pre-sales will halt the whole process. Currently it is in development stage, which is before seeking manufacturing. At the development stage, it is possible to run out of funds because engineers are expensive workers, taking about 75% of the budget.
Possible for lack of completing projected completion dates due to unforeseen situations.
Possible for copycats to make and market these just like what happened to Oculus Rift virtual reality headsets, diluting the market and potential success of R5.
Scents are provided by fragrance manufacturers. However, there are scents that are not on the market and needs developed. With that noted, it will take time for such scent to be developed. Some scents might not be developed due to the fact that such smells are toxic. For example: explosives like fireworks, gunsmoke, contain hydrogen sulfide. If breath too much of it, it will harm the body. We will try to establish scents that are not harmful to the body and will see what the limits are. Same for the flavors.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
