About this project
We live in a time where we are constantly subjected to regulations, opinions, or statements from governments, corporations and the media that we may or may not agree with.
Until now there's been no way to easily respond and be heard collectively as a group - but things are about to change with Qwanz.
Qwanz is a new app that gives you a powerful platform to get heard by those that can change things. Qwanz takes your thoughts and transforms them into polls that are shared with thousands of people, which not only leverages your opinion and gets it heard but also invites a response from others.
Unlike traditional polling sites, Qwanz poll results can be easily shared with government officials and over 20,000 journalists. If you’re tired of quietly watching as governments, corporations and the media spin stories to suit their own agendas, then Qwanz is the app for you.
Every poll is a growing conversation, between you and the public, with a chance of becoming a dynamic, spirited and powerful movement on its own.
How you use the app is up to you - you decide what to say and how to say it. You identify an issue, mobilize support, leverage opinions and create real change. Qwanz has the capacity to be a platform where people can organize action, give opinions, influence others, shape policy and build a better tomorrow. This is our dream.
Of course not every Qwanz poll is going to be about something impactful. It can be fun too. Want to debate the designated hitter rule? Or maybe weigh in on your favorite celebrity's fashion choices? Use Qwanz to ask your questions and instantly gather opinions from others in the Qwanz community.
Just another polling app?
“Is this just another polling app?” we hear you ask over your morning coffee or afternoon brew. “Not so” comes our reply. Sure, while you do vote on Qwanz – it's not about polls but about aggregating people's voices and opinions on a particular issue as a record of where they stand and what they want, and then easily getting those results to decision makers who can create change. Think of Qwanz as your global ballot box!
The bottom line is YOU decide what’s worth talking about. Want to address unscrupulous legislature? We’ll be your platform for change. Have an idea or policy suggestion you want heard? We’ll be your bullhorn. There’s no limit to how you can use Qwanz.
How could this change the world?
Qwanz not only gives social proof to your message, but for the first time it allows you to take action and directly influence decision makers that can pick up on your cause and take it to the next level.
The app does this by sending polls that receive enough participation directly to elected officials in the US Senate and Congress with the click of a button, allowing you to get heard as a group and have an impact on important issues quickly and easily.
And if your senator or congressman still won’t listen, we also provide access to a network of over 20,000 journalists worldwide, adding even further attention to your cause. Think of us as a way to kick start social change.
Our one defining rule is respect for free speech, and the principle that it shouldn't take money or influence to make yourself heard and create change. All it requires is passion and commitment.
A poll, open to the entire web, is an exchange of ideas that allows thousands of individual opinions to be shared across the world, leveraging a single voice into a powerful collective force.
We think we have the potential to be a platform where people can organize action, give opinions, influence others, shape policy or build a better tomorrow. A place to change the world. This is our hope, but we need your help to achieve this together.
Who we are and where we are going
We are an independent platform without ties to any group or association, nor do we have any political, religious or ideological affiliations. Our team is made up of young (and some not so young) Americans, French, Italians, Japanese, Romanians and Spanish that all share a vision and a common goal - to give the world one common voice that can be heard collectively, "...because one voice may not be heard, but thousands together cannot be ignored™."
We already have the app and the platform, so there’s no taking your money and hiding away in a dark development room for years, we just need to your help to take it global.
Qwanz is already available in English, but we don’t want to
stop there; to help increase awareness and create true global change, we want to make it available in Spanish, French, Japanese,
Indonesian, Portuguese, Russian, German, and Arabic, which
altogether would give a voice to people in some 60 different countries.
Even before our mobile app goes international, we’ve already accumulated 328,796 votes over 5,719 polls on our website, some of which have over 22,000 votes and more than 2000 comments.
Why should I get involved?
Because you, (yes you!) care about the issues that affect your world and understand that technology is helping to form a new global consciousness that is slowly and steadily empowering people to create real change.
You also believe know that it’s ultimately people's ability to speak up, be heard, and mobilize others that creates change.
By getting involved, you join a fast growing community of individuals committed to making a real difference.

Well, if we dream of crowd-sourcing social change, it’s only fitting we try to crowd-source funding. So far everything has been achieved in-house by a team of individuals committed to the idea.
A final thought
Just imagine a world where important issues could be addressed and debated well before their time; an age where people can rally together all over the world and really make a difference with just a few thumb movements. Imagine if we could finally hold corporations, governments or individuals accountable for their actions.
Help us and let's do it together!
How does Kickstarter work?
Kickstarter is a crowd-funding platform that allows individuals to contribute money to projects that they support. In order for projects like ours to receive money from a Kickstarter campaign, the project must reach its funding goal. If it doesn’t, the project isn’t funded – it’s an all-or-nothing funding method.
When does my Credit Card get charged?
Your card will not be charged until our project ends AND we meet our goal. :)
What will you do with if you raise more money than your funding goal?
If we’re lucky enough to surpass our funding goal we’d allocate resources to increasing the database of journalists and decision makers that users can contact through the app. We’d also increase our promotional efforts domestically and internationally. If we still have funds left over after that, we’d increase the apps features and functionality. Lastly, if we really blow out our target, we would work on the development of new platforms such as introducing a Blackberry or a Windows version of the app.
We’d appreciate any help you can give to help surpass our goal…break the piggy bank or write us a pledge for $1,000,000 (or less) – we’ll make good use of whatever you contribute.
How do I place an Order (Pledge)?
If you would like to make a pledge to support our project, all you need to do is click on the "Pledge" amount that you want to contribute and then check out just as you would normally do when buying something on Amazon.
Can I make multiple pledges?
Yes! Don’t let us get in your way, pledge as much as you want! If you choose multiple pledge items, we’ll make sure you receive all the appropriate incentives!
When will I receive my goodies?
This depends on the incentive. Some incentives will ship immediately while others will be fulfilled in February or March. Please see the shipment details associated with each pledge.
I live outside the United States. Can I still contribute to the project and be eligible for rewards?
Absolutely! We’re excited to offer the rewards internationally; just note that a fee for international shipping may be added to your pledge amount when you check out depending on the incentive that you selected.
How much does the app cost?
It’s Free!!! Yes, the app is free. We are not trying to make money selling an app…we're here to disrupt the traditionally one sided flow of information and give a voice to everyone. It is our hope that by offering the app for free, people will be encouraged to share it with friends and help us spread the word.
What platforms does Qwanz mobile support?

The Apps were released in the fourth quarter of 2012.
Can anyone vote on Qwanz?

Can anyone create a poll and get opinions on a particular idea or subject?
Yes, of course, anyone who is registered or has the app!
Can anyone register on Qwanz?

Can anyone give their opinion?
Yes, as long as it is within our T&C; For example, you cannot use content that is unlawful, libelous, defamatory, racist, anti-Semitic, hateful, obscene, pornographic, indecent, harassing, threatening, potentially harmful, or invasive of individual privacy and/or publicity rights.
Can anyone Qwanzit and send results of their polls on directly to the decision makers of their choice, including US elected officials, Government Agencies, Corporations and now, for the first time ever, to 20,000 journalists worldwide?
Yes, a poll just needs to reach a certain number of votes (500, 1000 or more) and it’s then eligible to be sent with Qwanzit to decision makers by any user.

Risks and challenges
As stated, our project goal is to translate the Qwanz app into eight new languages and take it global.
Although we have made every effort to estimate the costs correctly, in the event of unexpected costs or challenges, we did not build a buffer into our budget which means we could run out of money to achieve our entire objective. Nevertheless, should costs exceed our expectations or some other unforeseen situations emerge, we do not feel that our project would be completely stifled. This is because the project can be completed in portions which are not interdependent. For example, we can localize the Qwanz app into Russian and Portuguese totally independently of one another. This means that the risk of the project completely failing is nonexistent and that at worst, we’d have to sacrifice only a portion of our goal.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
