Heading off-road makes great demands of your footwear. From riding to walking, to whatever standing around watching your friends fix a puncture is called, the environment is constantly changing. And then there’s the rain. Puddles, solid ground that suddenly isn’t and the constant spray of water from the front wheel all conspire to wet feet and dampen spirits.
Combining plush comfort with well-thought-out design details like a no- sew upper, gusseted tongue and a water blocking, MTB-compatible carbon composite sole, the Quoc Gran Tour All-Terrain Gravel Bike Shoe is our response to the challenges of off-road riding.
We’ve done the hard yards and ridden the long miles to get this far, and now, with your help, we can move the Gran Tourer from advanced prototype to production, and on to the feet of the gravel bike community.
Introducing the Gran Tourer
Combining all-day comfort, weather protection, durability and style is no easy challenge, but that was precisely our goal when we designed the Gran Tourer All-Terrain Gravel Bike Shoe.
To make the GT the perfect off-road cycling shoe, we knew we had to start at the sole. Working with our partners, we created a GravelGrip™ proprietary rubber compound that perfectly balances long-term durability with underfoot grip. You’ll notice the difference walking off the bike - the grip is surer and less likely to clog, even on loose shale or stodgy trail mud.
But that was just the beginning. Off-road adventures are a curious mix of riding, walking, hoisting, and eating. And while we can’t help you source an extra flapjack when your bag is coming up empty, we can deliver a carbon composite midsole that strikes an ideal balance between pedal stiffness and comfort.
On the bike, the Gran Tourer is engineered to transmit all of your effort through the pedals to the back wheel. Away from the bike, it’s designed to offer a forgiving flex as you track across mountains, lift the bike over a stile or two, or walk into a cafe (they might have flapjacks).
With the chassis sorted, we knew that the next challenge was every trail riders’ nemesis: the wet.
Gravel riders are no strangers to the rain, but thanks to the Gran Tourer’s gusseted tongue and “no-sew” splashproof upper, fully waterproof to the top of the abrasion-resistant border, your feet will remain dry and comfy, no matter how many puddles or shallow fords you have to step through.
Look closer, and you’ll even notice laser micro-pores that mimic the breathability and wicking of the skin to better balance out foot temperature.
Of course, the Gran Tourer accepts traditional MTB cleats, which are usually an easy source of water ingress, but not so with the GT - the exposed cleat area is fully waterproof.
About that abrasion-resistant area that encircles the Gran Tourer - we designed it to prevent the sort of nicks, marks and scrapes that can quickly turn a good shoe bad; which leads nicely onto the lace system.
Click-clack closure systems break, but lace-ups fit all-ride long. The Gran Tourer ships with the patented Quoc Double-Lock lace system. By tightening different sections of the shoe to your liking, creating a supportive, custom fit for the day ahead is as simple as loop, knot & pull.
Available in a range of classic and less traditional colours, the Gran Tourer will also ship in two blends of our own specially formatted camouflage. Green Camo and Black Camo versions feature a Vietnamese Tigerstripe overlaid onto British terrain. The result? A wholly new, subtle yet distinctive camouflage pattern.
An Exclusive Gift for Kickstarter Shoe Backers
While designing the Gran Tourer, we had the idea of crafting a pair of cycling socks to complete the experience of wearing the shoes. With fabric samples in hand, we developed a pair of stylish, deeply comfortable merino tech wool socks to reflect the camo colourway of the Gran Tourer. Post-Kickstarter, we will retail the socks for £22. But Kickstarter campaign shoe backers will receive the socks as part of their package.

Meet the Founder
An avid cyclist and honours graduate of London Central St. Martins, the Quoc brand was founded in 2009 by namesake and founder, Quoc Pham, after he found that traditional performance cycling shoes were not best suited to the to and fro nature of city cycling. Quoc's goal was simple: to design a cycling shoe that combined comfort, support, elegance and style for the daily ride. Over the years the shoe range has expanded to meet the demands of different cyclists, but the Quoc ethos remains the same: to create beautifully made, stylish cycling shoes that riders love to wear both on and off the bike.
Some people have asked us, "Quoc is a fully functioning footwear brand with retailers and it's own online store, why are we releasing products on Kickstarter?" For us, the answer is clear, and it comes down to a few key factors:
The Kickstarter community is vibrant and full of people who are excited about backing new and exciting opportunities first, and they understand the associated value. You're tuned in to what's going on, and you communicate with creators as well as other backers to help the entire community learn and grow. As a brand, this kind of interaction with our customers is invaluable.
The crowdfunding model allows us to pass our savings on to you in a very real way. We offer wholesale pricing to you in exchange for helping us pay for the initial development and production costs. All subsequent production runs of this product will be priced at an MSRP which is roughly double what you'll pay here.
Developing and producing new products the traditional way is risky because you don't truly know if it will resonate with your customers. If it doesn't, you've wasted a lot of time and money. Kickstarter is the ultimate free market. If you like it, you back it. If enough people back it, we make it.

Risks and challenges
Quoc is a fully-operational footwear brand. Although this is a special project, it’s not outside the realm of what we do everyday.
As we’re not factory owners, there’s always the risk of a factory closure or an inability to produce at our primary facility, due to capacity issues. In the unlikely event of such an occurrence, Quoc will move production to another facility that we’ve already vetted. We could also face issues with our current material suppliers or production delay from our primary partner factory, but again, we have experience dealing with these situations and have alway found ways to resolve any issues.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
