      Layne,
If your musician has a specialized musical instrument and smashes it, the instrument is discarded. I requires an action to replace 1 smashed instrument. Hope this helps.

    2. Layne on May 8

I've got a rules question. Can you spend one action to replace multiple smashed instruments? and If your musician has a specialized instrument and they smash it does that instrument get discarded or do they just have to pay the replacement cost?

Thomas, yes, you are the only person in Finland with a copy of the game. But Finland is no stranger to hardcore rock and roll chops with bands such as Nightwish, Children of Bodom, HIM, Lordi, and Apocalyptica.

Rock on, brother from across the world.

      Riki39561,

      In response to your question:
One rules clarification, when buying a specialised instrument why would you ever not pawn your standard instrument as a friend S action before buying for a 150 buck discount?

I can't see a reason why you wouldn't pawn your instrument before buying a specialized musical instrument at a $150 discount. That is good strategy.

    6. Quirky Engine Entertainment 4-time creator on April 21

      Riki39561,

Thanks a ton for your input it means a ton to us. You are correct, we should have included a components list in the book. That was a mistake.

Your observation of the venue card phasing is a good one. We are thinking we might do something like that in an expansion with Super Venues.

Thanks for you advice on the high school music aspect of it and on the female musicians. We tried to make everything pretty balanced that way. But, again, in expansions there is a lot we can do with new musician cards. I like your ideas.

As for the characters: I am a novelist as well as a game designer so I sketched out character bios for all of these characters and shaped the rules around them. I'm glad to hear that it worked. By the way, you can get a free digital download of the book about the characters. It also has a few stories, including a Punk Cats origin story and other stories about the musicians. Here is a download link if you want it.

Finally, if you like the game, it would be extremely cool if you would leave a review on Amazon. Amazon reviews help way more than you might suspect.

      Yours truly,

Also three minor comments, all comin from a good place:

-Always include a breakdown/count of components in the rule book.
-I feel like venue cards should be split in to two phases to stop you getting an early game setup with 4 12+ chops venue cards which could slow the game down.
-The art is awesome, perfectly suits the tongue in cheek style of the game. But I do wish less of the female baggage was based on romantic relationships. There is just way more interesting hooks you can play on. A little less high school music and a little more rock n roll. For example a militant vegan that won't be in the same band as a another character wearing a meat suit ;). Or punk rock princess / riot girrl the former will only play in Show Haunts the other only plays dives.

Again, this is all is meant from a positive place. Seeing a splendor-esk game with a rock theme is amazing. Also blown away how you managed to make such a large number of characters all feel unique.

Game arrived (UK) last week, looks amazing, can't wait to get it to the table. One rules clarification, when buying a specialised instrument why would you ever not pawn your standard instrument as a friend S action before buying for a 150 buck discount? Especially since if you lose your specialised the standard one magically reappears. Cheers guys!

You all rock, and we are glad that we are finally getting this game in your hands. If you post pics on FB or other social media, do unwrapping vids etc, be sure to let us know and we will share them on our platforms as well.

Our favorite part of the game has quickly become how much we laugh together when we play and the stories we tell afterwards about our bands' rise to fame.

Amazon is saying that all Rewards for US backers have shipped, and we just submitted the last of our shipment requests for the EU - so those should start shipping in the next couple of days. Be on the lookout for the shipment email with tracking info and etc.

Also, hope your holiday weekend is great and if you are taking time off, that you have plenty of time to play your favorite games (including CHOPS) with your favorite people. :)

@Jeff, That is awesome. We think we are pretty happy with fulfilling this Kickstarter through Amazon so far. We might have saved a bit of money if we had dropshipped from the MFR in China, but we kind of liked the ability to pull all the product in first and do some QA, and put the Stretch Goal Rewards in the boxes ourselves. That way any mistakes are easily trackable to ourselves and we can correct more quickly.

Let us know on anything else, and we will have a full update to everyone either EOD today or tomorrow.

      Thanks!!

    18. Quirky Engine Entertainment 4-time creator on April 11

@Steve, you can do reviews, but they will probably not be listed as Verified Purchase. Be sure to mention that you backed the Kickstarter, just to give context. Amazon has gotten a bit weird lately about reviews and changed their Guidelines, but it seems as long as you explain where you got the game, they are a bit more lenient.

Also, Rock On and Be Excellent To Each Other!! :)

We love playing CHOPS. We hope you will love it as well. Once you get a chance to get to know the world of the game with a few plays, it becomes even better. If you have a minute after you play, leave us a review on Amazon. It would mean the world to us.

      Hi Steve,

Amen. Believe us, we aren't terribly thrilled with it either, but the games themselves (which were printed by the same company) are wonderful, so we are trying to work through it without throwing too much a tantrum, and they are supposed to be expediting shipment at their cost as soon as they are printed.

Hang tight, hoping for confirmation today or tomorrow on status. Everything else is ready to go out, we just need to drop the stretch goal cards in the boxes, re-shrink wrap and get out the door.

    28. Quirky Engine Entertainment 4-time creator on March 17

      Hey Marc,

We were actually going to send out a brief update today or early next week - but are waiting on a final confirmation. A dumb thing happened - our printer forgot to print and ship the Limited Edition Stretch Goal cards. We are just waiting on confirmation that they have shipped to us, and then we will drop them into the games, re-shrink wrap them then send them out for fulfillment.

Hoping to get some confirmation today. Stay tuned, and then we will do an official update.

    41. Quirky Engine Entertainment 4-time creator on September 25, 2016

      Thomas!!

Hey, thanks for jumping out checking in. Things are going forward, we had a slight setback on approving printing plates with the printer, which knocked us back a bit, but have worked through that and are right now in the process of approving final-final printing plates. Things are looking good, and we don't foresee any other delays like that.

We will have an official update out early this week - we should have had one out a couple of weeks ago but held off while resolved that glitch that held up us giving our final approvals to commence printing.

      Thanks!!
