~ To PRE-ORDER a paperback of the Sproutlings anthology [PLEDGE $20] and choose [Paperback copy of Sproutlings] from the REWARDS list ~
Sproutlings is a community publishing project from Hunter Anthologies in Newcastle NSW Australia, edited by Morgan Bell, on the theme of wicked plants.
The book Sproutlings: A Compendium of Little Fictions will be a paperback anthology containing flash fiction about carnivorous creepers, poisonous plants, and vengeful vegetation. This Kickstarter will fund the first print run.
The more pre-orders we get for the paperback (see the $20 paperback pledge reward, or either of the $50 packages, or any of the "MULTI-BUY" options) the larger the base number of initial print order will be.
CONTRIBUTORS
Everyone was welcome to submit flash fiction and poems between 150 and 2,000 words (submissions closed May 2015). Sproutlings sought out the most fresh, most original, most weird new talent and new ideas from established talent. Authors were asked to be wild, be wonderful, and write things that have never been written before. New words, new phrases, new twists on old ideas. Aspiring and emerging writers were encouraged. Stories were judged purely on merit, not author notoriety. There will be 40 contributing authors in this anthology.
Authors: Russell Proctor, Steve Herczeg, Ashlee Jade, Sharon Boyce, Gabrielle Clover, Helen Vivienne Fletcher, Mike Cullen, Lyn Godfrey, Sam Ford, Aarti Mahajan, Aria Peyton, Steve Dillon, Magdalena Ball, Jodie van de Wetering, Lee-Anne Wilson-Smith, Pete Sutton, K. M. Ross, Kathryn White, M. A. Hale, Willie Southgate, Meryl Dunton-Rose, Mel A. Rowe, Ryley Miller, Jenny Blackford, Sheree Christoffersen, and many more!

HISTORY
Our first anthology Novascapes (Volume 1) was the brainchild of Cassandra Page, a speculative fiction collection celebrating the shared locality of contributors - Newcastle NSW Australia - and featured award winning local authors such as Margo Lanagan, Kirstyn McDermott, and Thoraiya Dyer. As Cassandra launched Novascapes (Volume 1) at Newcastle Writers Festival 2015 and put out the call for Novascapes (Volume 2), Morgan Bell put out a call with a wider net for an anthology based on theme: wicked plants.
INSPIRATION
Jack & The Beanstalk, The Day of the Triffids, Little Shop of Horrors, Alice in Wonderland. Killer weeds, botanical atrocities, enchanted forests-woods, strangling vines, poison fruits-berries-darts, the tree of life-knowledge, carnivorous flora, cabbage patch kids, wise talking-walking trees, magical beans, primordial slime.

Risks and challenges
The cover art has been completed. The editing and promotion is underway. The biggest hurdle will be with the physical printing, ordering and checking proofs for textual errors, page numbering, blank pages, front matter and back matter.
