What dreams do you have? Never lose your child-like curiosity. With the world’s first Virtual Reality viewer in an iPhone case, you don’t have to. Figment VR let you take your dreams and imagination with you.
You can explore amazing places, from Mt.Everest to the great barrier reefs - immerse in virtual reality. Here is a fun video showing how you can share amazing journeys with friends using Figment.
What People are Saying
AFFORDABLE VIRTUAL REALITY, ANYWHERE YOU ARE
Virtual reality lets you fully immerse yourself in digital experiences that you could never get to on your own, like climbing to the top of Mt. Everest, rock-out on stage with Paul McCartney, or even shooting down globby aliens that swarm all around you. We think VR is super cool, but it’s not as accessible as it could be.
The trouble is that VR viewers are a little bulky, so you don’t get to have these experiences wherever you go. Just like the best camera is the one that’s with you, the same thing goes for VR viewers.) Oculus has great quality, but keeps you tethered to your desk and is a bit pricey. Google Cardboard, the next step in viewer evolution, is affordable, but it is still bulky and you might not carry it around everywhere. So when you’re reading the New York Times, in line at the coffee shop and happen to see a link to its new immersive storytelling app, you can’t experience the stories until you get home. And by then your mind will be elsewhere.
Enter Figment.
Virtual Reality in your Pocket.
The Best VR Device is the One that's with You
Figment uses your powerful iPhone to give amazing VR experiences. You can watch immersive VR movies & concerts, explore incredible travel destinations, and play games and more.
Snap on the case, enjoy VR anytime and everywhere.
Figment cases are designed to protect your iPhone while maintaining its slim profile. All ports, cameras, and function buttons are open for quick and easy access.
VR IN A PHONE CASE
Of course, Figment needs to work as a phone case for you to want to carry it around in the first place.
Figment is a VR viewer folded into a sleek iPhone case. It’s pocket-sized, so you can bring it anywhere, and it’s in a phone case, so you actually will bring it everywhere. Because it works with almost all VR apps, you can view or share an immersive VR experience anywhere you are.
The viewer folds in completely, making Figment as slim as the average phone case, and you can get to all of your buttons and ports with ease.
Snap on the case, enjoy VR anytime and everywhere.
A Perfect Fit for your Favorite iPhone
We’ve designed Figment to work on iPhone 6, iPhone 6s, iPhone 6 Plus, and iPhone 6s Plus.
It will come in Dark and Light version … but keep an eye out for Champagne if we hit our stretch goals!
Plus, as a bonus, the Figment also makes a nifty kickstand.
We’ve designed the Figment to only cost $10 more than a plain old iPhone case, to make sure Virtual Reality stays as accessible as possible.
Specifications
Though it only weighs 2 oz, Figment is durable. It’s made of polycarbonate plastic coated in silicone rubber for extra protection, the bridge is made of a high grade anodized aluminum, and the lenses are scratch resistant.
This means you can share that cool VR game with your clumsy friend, worry-free.
Origami VR Viewer
The viewer flips out to keep the screen the right distance from your eyes, then folds back in when not in use. The sleek design makes it easy to slide into your pocket with no more bulk than a regular phone case.
Take Figment, Everywhere you Go
Figment is pocket-sized so you can bring it anywhere, and because it’s in a phone case, you will actually bring it everywhere.
VR APPS FOR DAYS
Our favorite thing about virtual reality is that you can experience just about anything: float in space, climb Mt. Everest, swim with sharks, explore ancient ruins, get a backstage pass, and even swish around a lightsaber. Because Figment uses your iPhone as the display, and because there’s an ever-growing list of VR apps, you know you’ll have plenty to explore.
Try the following apps to start:
- Google Cardboard App (we recommend exploring virtual reality StreetView)
- Jaunt VR (we recommend getting backstage while Paul McCartney plays “Live and Let Die”)
- Vrse (we recommend sitting amongst U2 while they play)
- New York Times (we recommend immersing yourself in the life of a Syrian refugee)
- Porsche VR (we recommend test-driving the 911 Targa)
- Discovery Channel (we recommend diving with sharks around a shipwreck)
- Legendary (we recommend piloting a Jaeger battlemech against a Kaiju monster)
- Roller Coaster VR (we recommend this for kids too short to ride the real thing)
Virtual reality is pretty amazing. We think that coming soon, augmented reality (virtual things integrated into your real surroundings) will be even cooler. Imagine looking around through your viewer, spotting your vintage record of Paul McCartney’s “Live and Let Die” on your desk, and having your phone immerse you in the concert experience. Or looking at your Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte and being transported to a tropical coffee plantation or a rustic pumpkin farm. The future’s looking pretty bright, and Figment is ready for it!

Design & Manufacturing
We designed a delightful lens deployment system, so you can quickly and easily transform the Figment case into a VR device. Simply slide the triggers on the back of the device to unfold the VR lens.
Designed down to the smallest detail, every aspect of Figment has gone through many iterations in order to arrive at the current design. We’ve invested time and resource to design and iterate through various industrial design concepts through partnership with FATHOM in Oakland, CA. Further, PCH Lime Lab is our product design engineering partner and now we have a working prototype that’s made with the manufacturing and assembly process in mind so we are confident we can turn Figment into an amazing, final product.
Color, Material, and Finishing all work together to perfectly complement your iPhone.

Risques et défis
We’re excited to bring a pocketable virtual reality viewer to everyone. The team we assembled has many combined years of experience designing, prototyping, producing, and delivering hardware and software to happy end consumers. The best news is that Figment is nearly complete. However, to sufficiently mitigate any residual risks and road bumps along the way that can cause delays in getting the final product into your hands, we have already done a great deal of work before launching on Kickstarter. The first thing we’ve done to minimize risks is to set a realistic funding goal we need to hit, not just one that’s easy to hit, to kick start the manufacturing process. We’ve further reduced our production and fulfillment risks by partnering with PCH (pchintl.com) to help manage our supply chain and manufacturing process and deliver Figment to your door.
We’ve also already tackled the engineering around the folding and unfolding mechanism, and we’re now working with PCH and our contract manufacturer on reliability, standard operating procedure (SOP), and process verification to identify opportunities to reduce cost and improve manufacturability and to prepare the assembly factory for production set-up & mass production ramp up.
In short we are doing everything in our power to bring you Figment as quickly as possible. However, there always remain risks that may be out of our control:
Unforeseen Delays:
Orders are being placed for longer lead parts, but unexpected delays and shortages of components can occur. If this happens, we’ll be sure to keep you informed and work with our supply chain to quickly solve the problem.
Product Adjustments:
As Figment gets geared up for mass production, there will likely be some minor adjustments to improve the final product. Pre-production prototypes are made to test and refine the product and allow us to incorporate our adjustments and those suggested by our experienced manufacturing partners. These will always be for the benefit of you, the consumer, and if we do make any changes, we will clearly explain exactly how these changes are being made, why they are being made, and their potential impact on schedule.
Any pledge amount brings us one step closer to our goal. Help us by clicking the ‘Back This Project’ button at the top of the page and by sharing our page to spread the word about Figment.
