Welcome to our 2nd Kickstarter! We've been writing fiction, designing games and have been creating universes and the exotic creatures that inhabit them for a very long time now. No worries if you haven't heard of us - we've only started publishing our creations a few years ago.
Getting noticed isn't easy. In fact, it's the biggest challenge we've ever faced. It doesn't matter how good our stuff is if nobody finds out and takes a chance on us. So, we're here to point a light on what we're doing, and we're hoping you'll spread the word. As we recently passed our 40th Anniversary of our Cosmoverse and Toonaria universes (2 universes that are featured in all of our stories and games), we figured that milestone was as good of an excuse as any!
Update 11/17/19: Since Kickstarter pages tend to be longish and we show off loads of goodies before our Stretch Goals, here's a quick look:
We wanted to do something special to mark the occasion, as these two universes are near and dear to our hearts. We've already invested so much to get things rolling, and with your help, we can make this our best anniversary ever! We invite you to celebrate, with us, share our campaign with your friends, and climb on board a wild ride across two universes!
We decided to make 2 universe-themed D20s (2 x 20 = 40 years!) for this anniversary: The Stargate D20 and Sky Ark D20. (We'll tell you more about them and the universes that inspired them down below.) Because we're a small company with limited resources (hence this Kickstarter), we've manufactured just a handful of dice and made our Funding Goal as low as possible to make it easy for you to get them. We think they turned out great and would complement your existing dice collections.
If you saw our funny, over the top skit in the video above, you probably realize we didn't stop there. We're also very pleased to offer up our glorious Overkill D20 featured in an epic way in that video, and the mysterious Gambler D20 as Stretch Goals (symbolically in the hopes that make it another 40 years, as we have tons of cool stuff in the works!)
Among the pictures you'll see on this page, some are photographs and others are mockups with 3D art, as we don't have all of the dice manufactured yet, though we have all 4 D20s approved and ready to, ahem, roll.
We think all 4 D20s turned out pretty amazing. We also designed complete polyhedral sets for the Stargate and Sky Arks, just in case you like our dice as much as we do, but we didn't stop there. We've been designing loads of art, tabletop games and fiction - far more than we can present here.
Whether you back us or not, if you like our work, please consider spreading the word wherever you hang your hat online. Let's not let the big publishers have all the fun! We appreciate each and every one of you, and every little bit helps! We are very excited about the projects we've been cooking up, but it's up to you how far and how high QT Games flies in the days ahead. If you check out our universes, we're betting at least one of them will find a special place in your heart. Now, on to the dice!
ABOUT OUR DICE
To help celebrate the Cosmoverse we made the Stargate D20. Likewise, in honor of our Toonaria universe, we made the Sky Ark D20. Rather than make some cheap knockoffs to ensure more pennies in our pockets, instead we wanted high-quality dice made by pros. These are durable, laser-engraved, polished, paint-filled, injection-molded polymer dice just for you!
At QT Games, we believe in producing only high-quality products, which is why we turned to Q WORKSHOP to manufacture our 40th Anniversary dice. Q WORKSHOP is a pretty amazing company (and not just because of the Q in their name!) They've been making great dice for over 14 years now, so they know what they're doing, and we can sleep at night knowing we did our best to bring you the good stuff! QT Games is new to making dice, but as you'll soon discover, we've been around for quite awhile. Check 'em out!
Note that the Stargate Die shown in the video above has undergone some changes. We loved the one in the video, but we wanted it to be a little easier to read the numbers and icons. See the render, below, showing the updated design!
See our Stretch Goals for more dice!
Paying fulfillment centers to pack small items can get cost prohibitive quickly. In order to keep the price of dice down as low as possible, QT Games is going to be assembling packs, kits and yep—dice bags. All dice will be bagged into quantities of 2 or 4 dice. As the cost of shipping 1 die is the same as shipping a few, this works better all the way around. When ordering dice you may select in the Pledge Manager for them to be in one of the following configurations for each dice bag: All the same, all different or half and half (for 4-packs). If we reach the Stretch Goals, we will expand the options to include the additional types. So, if you want 2 Stargate D20s and 2 Sky Ark D20s, you might want the half and half 4-pack available in the Diceman Acolyte tier.
All giclée art prints are authenticated by QT Games, and will be placed inside acid-free, protective sleeves, to be shipped inside sturdy, padded mailing tubes. We only have a few prints left, so if you would like to own one, be sure to snag either the Art Collector reward tier, or to get it with its stunning, companion variant print, the Master Art Collector tier. These rare prints are not available as an Add-On.
If you would like multiple reward tiers, simply select the one with the art you want, add enough funds to cover any Add-ons or other non-limited tiers you would like and tell us where the money goes after the campaign is over using the Campaign Manager.
Note: All of the art prints are ready to be packaged for shipping. They will be shipped separate from any other shipments due to their special packaging requirements.
11x14” ORIGINAL COVER ART PRINT
We've made a very small number of these art prints and have no plans to print more. (We can't do everything—we have a lot of irons in the fire, so why not make these extra special?!)
Jason Rainville's original cover painting is printed on 100% cotton rag that is acid-free, lignin-free and OBA-free, using archival 100% pigment-based inks. We could have printed this more traditionally, but we wanted this gorgeous painting as a giclée art print to do it justice. It is fit for printing and framing, a perfect addition to your wall or as a wonderful gift to that art and/or fiction fan in your life. To get this print, select either the Art Collector or Master Art Collector tier.
Our previous Kickstarter was really focusing on the fiction only, and didn't do the paintings justice, so this time we've made the previews larger to show more detail. Here's an even closer view of Jason's amazing art:
LIMITED, SPECIAL EDITION 12x18” COVER PAINTING VARIATION
We commissioned Jason Rainville to make special modifications to the original design and only printed 10 of these limited, Special Edition art prints. They were made with the same gallery-quality, archival process as with the 11x14" original, above. (100% cotton rag that is acid-free, lignin-free and OBA-free, using archival 100% pigment-based inks.) This same painting variation appeared on the limited Edition Kickstarter Hardcover of Arcane Synthesis (again, we only printed a handful of those books.)
Now's your chance to get the painting as an art print for your wall before they're all gone! These two prints would look great together as companion pieces! Select the Master Art Collector tier to the right to ensure you don't miss out on this rare opportunity.
Don't know about you, but we love, love maps! Star maps, fantasy maps—any kind of maps. There's just something so grand and a sense of wonder about them—each city, town, exotic location and world—what mysteries they hold!
For over 40 years, Bob Whitely has been designing maps—mostly for his various Cosmoverse worlds to be used in roleplaying and as reference in his stories, but also for Toonaria, too. He included a big map in his first board game, Minotaur Madness, and continued the tradition for most of his game designs going forward. His upcoming board game, Freeze Or Burn, is no different, featuring a map as the game board.
We have been developing many exciting projects for Toonaria, and continue to be delighted by the exotic creatures and stories that keep unfolding before us. They are a daily part of our lives (frankly, we can't stop thinking about them), and we can't wait to share them with you!)
In each of our stories we've shared at least one map. They look good, but they're very small. Now, you can own the entire Cosmoverse map in all its glory—and in high resolution. Zoom in to check out our Cosmology, various races and galactic icons. Get the lay of the land—er space. If enough interest is shown, we'll put together a Cosmoverse Source Book in the days ahead. Till then, enjoy our novels and maps!
Above, is a small, zoomed in section displaying a region that is dimensionally shifted (The GodStorm area shown, which actually resides both in the Cosmothereal dimension —home of Cathor, a ringworld featured in many of our stories—and Mortalis, the name of the Cosmoverse's primary dimension, where the Cosmoverse version of Earth is located—our planet is in another galaxy, not shown on our maps—it is a quarantined world only accessible via an ancient gate.)
The Cosmoverse is really big, so we made a really big map. It just made sense. We look forward to exploring more and more of the worlds with you in the days ahead and hope to make many more maps along the way. If you spread the word, that will enable us to spend a lot more time writing and designing!
Follow along on our epic journeys across a universe of infinite possibilities! You can refer to these maps on your favorite tablet, laptop or desktop, or print them at full size to adorn a wall to enjoy whenever you're itching to be inspired. (As for QT Games, we printed the 24x36" version on giclée quality, archival paper and framed it for our office!)
This incredible map also displays networks of gates and jump routes. Further, it includes paintings of 15 major races of the Cosmoverse! No joke—it's a map to be reckoned with, and would make a beautiful backdrop for your own Cosmoverse Campaign Setting! it is also a breathtaking reference for Cosmoverse readers and map fans alike. These maps will only get more and more relevant as we continue to publish books (which we have more than a few planned and in the works, currently.)
In case you love maps like we do, we thought we'd share an early peek at one of the maps we included in our upcoming Sea of Worms novel:
Everything we publish is blended-genre. That is, it blends together Science Fiction, Fantasy and often other genres as well. Done right, blended-genre fiction flows together smoothly, as if the genres are one (after all, someone invented the notion of genres.) Instead of a reference point, the term has become more of a straight jacket, but it is somewhat useful for cataloging purposes, of course. The thing is, our books and games don't neatly fit into existing categories, so they should have their own category on Amazon and elsewhere, alongside other works that thickly blend genres together (i.e. Watchers by Dean Koontz, Alien, Aliens, 10 Cloverfield Lane, Shaun of the Dead, Avatar, Unbreakable, Ninth City Burning, Cloud Atlas and so many others.
Call it Science Fantasy, hybrid genre, cross-genre or some other moniker if you must, but ours is a smooth blend, so we call it blended-genre. We draw from two universes Bob Whitely created: The Cosmoverse and Toonaria. One vision. Two universes. Infinite Possibilities!
Above, is a Cosmothean centaur from Bob Whitely's Sea of Worms novel, coming soon to Amazon.
All three of the books above are either currently available in paperback, Kindle and EPub, or will be in the first half of 2020. We released Arcane Synthesis: A Blended-Genre Anthology first (It was the focus of our last Kickstarter). You can read an excerpt HERE and find it on some online stores. (We'll be reformatting it for Amazon and worldwide distribution shortly.)
The Shadow Reaper was recently released on Amazon, and Sea of Worms, is coming soon to Amazon (Read a Sea of Worms excerpt on our site HERE.) You can find Bob on Goodreads, btw. All of our books from Cosmoverse Publishing take place in the Cosmoverse a universe Bob Whitely has been expanding and writing stories about (and running RPG adventures through) for four decades. (Yeah, he was just a teenager when he started all this, and dreamed of QT Games long before he ever sought to make it a legal entity.)
These books will all be available soon on Amazon and at other stores (and we really need and would love some more reviews!), but if you get them through this Kickstarter, Bob Whitely will sign them if you want him to (Just let us know through the Pledge Manager after the campaign ends whether you want a book signed, signed and personalized, or left blank.) Also, while we have sales now and then, you won't find our books priced lower than during this campaign.
Bob always creates illustrations and maps for each new book, and sometimes commissions other artists as well, to enhance each story. He has written countless stories about the Cosmoverse over the decades, and has a great many more planned and in the works. Time and finances are our biggest hurdles to getting more great stuff out the door. If Bob and QT Games gets enough attention with this Kickstarter and our other endeavors, and if our fans spread the word, we'll be able to get more of Bob's stories out the door. That way everybody wins!
Here's some more information about our 2 Stretch Goal D20s: First the Overkill . . .
Roll them for therapy: Need a smile? If you know what a 20 means in many roleplaying games, just having the Overkill on the table with you when you play can brighten your day!
The Overkill speaks for itself. It might seem to be something that isn't needed, but it's so glorious it really is more of a need than a want. It needs to exist, and now it does! And now you can own one if we reach this Stretch Goal!
This should go without saying, but no, we can't guarantee the Overkill you get will be magical like the one in the our project video (in fact, we can pretty much promise that), but we're confident you'll have fun rolling it! Also, we realize we're not the first to make a die with lots of 20s on it, but we've put a fresh spin on the concept, making them much more interesting to roll with just a small change (1). What we've made is a a terrific, inexpensive gift to make that special gamer in your life smile and feel all warm and fuzzy inside each time they roll it. (Undead may be immune to this effect.) If you are buying some Overkills for yourself, well, there’s no shame in that—we’re pretty fond of rolling it, truth be told!

As with our Overkill die, we've come up with cool uses for the Gambler—several, in fact!
Dice Games: As mentioned above, we have a dice game in the works that requires several Gamblers: Storm Garden! We think it's turning out great so far, but couldn't finish it in time for this launch. We hope to make a playtest available soon for you to enjoy, and will offer a free Print & Play version at that time to use with your Gamblers D20s. The Gambler offers some really interesting odds, due to the unique faces and face distribution we designed. We actually came up with several dice game ideas for The Gambler, and we hope you have fun making some for your family and friends as well!
CLICK HERE for a pdf that includes a few more ways to get good use out of The Gambler!
While not a gambler himself, Bob has been living in Las Vegas, Nevada, for most of his life and came up with a design for a D20 that embraces the tense, high risk/high reward nature of gambling. Being a storyteller, he couldn’t resist brainstorming and writing down ideas for a couple different stories involving this unique die. Maybe he will share one of them with us in the coming days! Got an idea on a fun way to use The Gambler? We'd love to hear it in the Comments!!
Good news! QT games will assemble many of the bundles (Chaos Kits, Art Packs, etc.), and we have a popular Fulfillment Center lined up in the US with partners in the EU for the final packaging and shipping. We plan to use BackerKit to assist with organizing, shipping tools, collecting shipping after the campaign ends, etc. For more on why we aren't collecting for shipping during the campaign, see FAQ. Because we will be shipping in bulk to fulfillment centers abroad, VAT and Customs headaches are avoided (we're paying for them in all of the regions shown below, not you!)
To minimize the cost, shipping burden and potential for errors and delays, we have bundled a number of rewards. Shipping a single die, bookmark or Campaign Card anywhere is too expensive (International shipping charges a minimum regardless of actual weight), so we have bundled things in a manner we feel will work best for the campaign.
We understand that some folks might prefer only 1 die, for example, but we couldn't make the numbers work in such small quantities. You would be paying a lot to get something very small and lightweight. Besides, we're pretty sure you and your friends will love our stuff, so there's always selling an extra item or giving it away as a gift!
See FAQ for more on friendly shipping and estimated shipping prices.
Address Changes: If your address changes after the campaign ends, you may update BackerKit prior to shipments going out to ensure a smooth delivery. We'll remind you before delivery to update your shipping address.
Art prints will be packed and shipped directly from QT Games. Most of the other rewards have already been made, but will not be shipped until other items in your reward tiers are ready to minimize number of packages.
Now, we have some good news and some bad news—the bad news first: High-end art prints present a number of challenges. Because ours were printed under strict parameters and are of museum-quality, (and expensive to make), and because they are numbered and won't be printed again to ensure their rarity, they are irreplaceable, and need to be treated with kid gloves. We will use special packaging and shipping, so they will be shipped separately from other items you select. Because of the logistics and cost concerns with shipping the art prints, we are currently only able to make them available in the US.
It kills us that we needed to do that. If after the campaign ends, some of the art prints are left and you are outside the US and still want one or more of them, contact us and we'll see what we can work out. Thanks for understanding!
Now for more good news: If you finalize your art print order quickly after the campaign ends and your payment clears in time, we should be able to get your art print(s) to you by Christmas! It will be tight, but we've already made the prints and they are ready for packing and shipping. Communication is the key—we'll certainly do our best!
Do you like what we're doing? If so, please consider following us wherever you hang out online. If you share our campaign, we can forge ahead and spend more time on what we do best- creating great fiction, art, dice and games!
We just wanted to take a moment to do a shout out for the Dice Maniac's Club, a great group of dice enthusiasts. You can check out their Facebook page by clicking here.
Note: Tracking a project from Day-1 is the most accurate way to track, but bear in mind that it will still take a good week or so before there's enough data for an accurate projection.
Risks and challenges
This is our second campaign, so we're very familiar with how Kickstarter works. We've done our homework and have already designed everything, so no issues there. We have 2 of the 4 dice prototypes made and the others are ready to go at the factory, only awaiting final quantities to be determined. The designs have all been proofed and authorized for production.
All of the art has been completed and printed. We are working with a wonderful printer that we have turned to before and have no reason to doubt them, should we need to print more.
As for the fiction, The Shadow Reaper is already completely done. Arcane Synthesis is completely done as well, but we are reformatting it for the Kindle. Sea of Worms also requires formatting, but is otherwise completely done, and we've allotted time for formatting in our promise date.
We're using BackerKit to make the fulfillment process go smoothly and allow for shipping and post-Kickstarter Add-ons. We're new to BackerKit so hiccups are possible, though they should be minor. Lastly, we're also relying on Q Workshop to manufacture the dice. As we said, everything's ready to go for the 4 dice. Q Workshop is a well respected expert in their field just as BackerKit is. Both have been doing this a long time and are intimately familiar with both Kickstarter and fulfillment. Manufacturing always includes the possibility of delays due to equipment issues and such, but we've padded the delivery date to account for potential production issues, and we should be good to go there as well.
Barring a zombie apocalypse, alien invasion or other world-shattering issue (oh, and sickness, too), we're pretty confident this Kickstarter will flow smoothly. We will certainly do our best, and if you are aware of any looming invasions or flesh-eating scenarios coming down the pike, please do inform us and we'll see if we can get your rewards out before all hell breaks loose!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
