@Deanna: I've sent a PM on Kickstarter.
I'm not sure I did a survey... :( I've been sort of out of the loop for a while, but I donated $25 and am not sure how to get my game. xD
@deflare: I've sent you a PM (your survey email is different from your profile email).
Hi! I realized that the game has been out for a while, but I never got the key for being a backer; it's not in the Humble Bundle e-mail I got from the provided link. Am I missing something?
@maninahat: I've sent you a PM.
Having a spot of bother with this: following the link and providing the email only results in the humble bundle resending an old key for another game I previously bought. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks
I posted on the Steam bug report: if I simply delete all the SDL libs then everything seems to work.
@Rob: I'm looking at ways to solve this. Will try creating symlinks next - the problem is that .so names on Ubuntu are not the same as many other variants. I could just tell the script to download libSDL2 and libboost, but then installing the game would require an internet connection.
After today's Steam update, and then fixing LD_LIBRARY_PATH again, still get the same error: libSDL2-2.0.so.0: undefined symbol: wl_proxy_marshal_constructor
AFAIK gog changed their policy a short while ago as to when you give a steam key (as it happened by this KS using humble to give steam key), they won't provide gog keys for free to the devs.
But please inform yourselves, this is AFAIK only.
I don't know the exact reason, to be honest.
That is odd considering others have successfully done that,like for example The Banner Saga (eventually) and Among the Sleep (just a few days ago).
What would prevent you from doing so and not them?
They didn´t set up a web backend either.
After some fannying about with VC++2013 runtimes I did manage to get the Windows version running under WINE.
FYI - Downloaded the HumbleBundle Linux version, that also fails to run with the same error.
@glaring mistake: GoG didn't agree to it. A more detailed post by me in the GoG forums: http://www.gog.com/forum/general/release_unrest_special_edition/post121
What exactly would prevent us from getting GOG keys?
I tried with both the packaged SDL libs in the bin folder and also with the ones already installed on my system, got the same error.
@Phillip: No GoG keys via Kickstarter at all, sadly.
Just to be sure, does that mean i cannot get a gog key for the Kickstarter at all, only Steam and Humble Bundle? That would be quite sad... or will that change in the future somehow and i'll just have to wait?
Anyway, congratulations to release, i'll look forward to play the game on the weekend!
@Rob: Hm, the libSDL so files are provided with the Unrest build on Steam. As for the libwep, libjpeg and so on - steam should install them. Really strange, I'll look into this.
If the Humble Key Resender can't find a game key associated with the email address you used in the survey - try entering your kickstarter email address (if it was different). Just FYI as I had to use my Kickstarter account email to find it.
Got my Steam key no problem, Linux version doesn't work. I tried running it from the command line and got this error:
./bin/Unrest: error while loading shared libraries: libjpeg.so.8: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
Had a look around and the only libjpeg.so.8 available was in the steam client folder, so I hacked the Unrest script to include that folder in LD_LIBRARY_PATH, then I got this error:
./bin/Unrest: error while loading shared libraries: libwebp.so.5: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
Couldn't find a libwebp.so.5 anywhere, so I symlinked to libwebp.so.4 in the Unrest/bin folder, then I got this error:
./bin/Unrest: symbol lookup error: libSDL2-2.0.so.0: undefined symbol: wl_proxy_marshal_constructor
Been at it nearly an hour now and haven't managed to get the game to run, so going to bed. If anyone else can get the Linux version to work then let me know.
@Sam: Thank you!
@Jerome: Well, we were unable to hit the "Bob isn't your uncle" stretch goal, so now you're stuck with him! ;)
Excuse me, I did not sign up for Bob to be my uncle. I have enough, I am not adopting another one.
Looking forward to playing it. Congratulations to the whole team for the release!
