Character Trailer + Release Date is now 23 July, 2014

Hello Backers,

This is a frustrating post to write, because I've got some crappy news (for everyone, the team included) and because of certain agreements I can't get at the heart of the issue. All I can share is the consequence: elements outside of our control mean we have to move back our official release date. I can't say why yet - but don't worry, (a) it has nothing to do with the game's development, and (b) you'll find out soon enough.

Our new release date is July 23rd, 2014.

Believe me, we're not happy about this either. At the risk of repeating myself, this has nothing to do with our development cycle and everything to do with not crashing and burning as soon as we launch.

On the slightly positive side, you lovely people will get your copies as early as we can provide them, on July 17th (one week before the release date). We'll also release a playable demo of Unrest on June 26th.

We're on schedule, and this thing's almost finished. We'll stream a new set of levels for you all on our next developer stream, which will be on June 1st at 3PM GMT. These levels are situated in Bhimra's central palace, a major location in the game.

The palace has fountains!

We also made a new trailer for the game, which we're calling the "Character Trailer". It contains a little teaser of each playable character in the game, including the Naga character from one of our stretch goals:

I don't give a flying spaghetti monster when it will be released this year (as long as it's this year).

The artwork itself is simply to die for. It's like watching a watercolor painting come to life.

You guys did great for what it's worth for a small indie studio.

Only an extra month, I've got no problems waiting, that month will fly by before we even know it. Such is life.

Wait, the long holiday weekend (in the US) is over already?! See what I mean ;)

Main thing is that the game is coming soon. :-) We already have some games to pass time till middle of July, not to speak of the many other things to do. But I'm sure I'll catch enough time for this game since it looks nice and I'm very interested what you made of a story. Your soundtrack is awesome, I often listen to that during work if I want to relax a bit. :-)

Ehh, par for the course with Kickstarters, it's all good. You'll release when you release. A month delay is like, nothing to a Kickstarter vet!

I'll take 'It'll be completely done later than expected' over 'Our mainframe's been fried by sharks with lasers on their heads, so we're going back to the drawing board and we probably won't be able to make it as good now' any day of the week. Honestly, it's a long-term project so there are bound to be hiccups and bumps along the way. I just really appreciate how transparent you guys have been with us so far. It's pretty awesome when the devs keep in touch with their supporters like this.
So kudos to you for being honest, and keep up the good work. Can't wait to play the game.

Sad to hear, but I'm just glad it has nothing to do with the game's development or a personal emergency.

Keep your chin up guys, an extra month isn't a problem at all for us.

@Gren: This is a decidedly non-violent kind of problem, but I'll note your offer down in case it might be useful in the future ;) Thanks!

Hey, no worries. Though if this is the kind of problem which a furious kick to the back of the head would solve, I know a guy who knows a guy who claims to know a guy who's a kickboxing champion.

      Just saying. ;)

@Thomas & @Jesse: Thanks a bunch for the support and understanding!

That's not bad news! Whew, I was scared something awful happened. No worries at all!

Sucks to be some second class citizen for contractors higher up the food chain, but thank you very much for being honest with us.

@Daniel: Thanks a lot, I can't say how relieved I am on seeing your supportive comment. My backers are the best :D

Sorry to hear about your frustration, Arvind, but speaking for my part: don't worry about it. These things happen in business.

Kickstarter backers are a patient bunch, and impatient though I am, I don't care about getting it _now_. I only care that I receive something wonderful when the time comes. And I have a faith that I will.
