Matt Graff and Jolby & Friends bring you a fast-paced, competitive card game set in the American Southwest, where the road is open and wild. Players try to gather the right combination of cards, run animal cards over to create roadkill, and sabotage their opponents' strategy, all in the effort to be the player with the most points. You may think you're the best driver on the freeway, but watch out for off ramps, the demolition derby, and the police.
Roadkill Rivals will be printed onto high-quality cardstock (300gsm white-core linen) to give the cards strength, durability, and shuffle-ability. The custom tuck box will include all 68 cards and the rules sheet. (We will be printing with Ad Magic, a tested printer of card games such as Cards Against Humanity and Exploding Kittens.)
That is an extremely brief overview of the rules. For the full rules and a more in-depth experience, download the rules sheet, download the print and play, or watch the video:
All of the artwork is created by Josh, Colby, and Brett at Jolby & Friends, a creative studio located in Portland, OR. They’ve made fun, award-winning work for clients like Google, Nike, Disney, and Target. And now they’re a part of the Roadkill Rivals team.
Some of the photos and videos feature the preliminary, sketched artwork from the playtest decks. But in the final game, all of the cards will be fully-finished, color illustrations similar to the final examples shown. Jolby is working on them now.
We are including the cost of shipping TO ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD into the reward levels. That way you’re not surprised by an extra cost during the pledge process.
This game is EU and international friendly, and should be exempt from customs fees and VAT. We will mark the shipping as “Other – Kickstarter Reward.” And we will be declaring the manufacturing costs, not the pledge levels, which is perfectly legal. It will be USD $5 / EU €4.5 / GBP £3.25, so it is exempt from VAT in most of EU countries. Even the two copies valued at USD $10 / EU €9 / GBP £6.5 or four copies valued at USD $20 / EU €18 / GBP £13 should be exempt from VAT.
If any backer has questions, don’t hesitate to message us. We will try to do our best to eliminate or reduce VAT and customs fees to the best of our abilities.
First, a special thanks to all the family, friends, PIG Squad, and especially to the strangers who playtested this game and gave great feedback. You helped shape what this game has become.
Next, a huge thanks to the members of the Roadkill Rivals team: Nick and Danny for managing the PR and social media outreach, Guy for filming and editing the video, and Jolby & Friends for their illustration and graphic design.
Lastly, a dignified thanks to the other kickstarter game inventors who helped me along the way: Corey at Jumpdrive Studios and Steve at Blackspot Games for your in-person advice, Kim at Secret Base Games and David at Grail Games for your research about international shipping, James Mathe for your kickstarter articles and facebook group, and lastly to Jamey Stegmaier at Stonemaier Games for the gallons of knowledge I've ingested from your kickstarter lessons blog.
Risks and challenges

Design: We're confident in our game design and are working on finishing the final artwork. The whole team has years of experience in the design industry.
Printing: We've been a part of many printing projects in our previous jobs. We feel confident in the manufacturer that we've chosen, Ad Magic, a tested printer of card games such as Cards Against Humanity and Exploding Kittens.
Fulfillment & Shipping: We have sought out advice from the creators of successfully funded and delivered Kickstarter games, and feel confident in a method of packing and shipping that will increase delivery speed, keep a high level of quality, and also reduce costs.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
