Awesome News! FREE CLOUD PLATFORM for all our 1000+ Kickstarter backers… and thats just for starters!
....yes, dear Amazing Backers, you read correctly!
As a THANK YOU to you all, we are pleased to announce that we have agreed terms which will allow all our Kickstarter backers free access to one of the world’s most advanced IoT Middleware and Application platforms as we thrive to create an exciting and Plug & Play environment for your IoT projects.
Pycom is proud to announce we have partnered with IBM to bring you free access to the Open Standard platform Bluemix™ and the IoT middleware platform Binomium (yeah, pronounce that, if you can....) which will ensure vendor independent communication between all your IoT devices. Our current agreement allows you a minimum of 4 months FREE access to binomium.net and a minimum of 30 days FREE BlueMix access, although we are confident we will be announcing a further period extension very soon.
We have a habit of choosing passionate partners who share our vision of simplifying the process of IoT deployments and this latest partnership reinforces that mission. The detail of the offer is still being finalised and we will bring you further updates very very soon. In essence, however, the spirit of our agreement will ensure LoPy backers are able to have a meaningful evaluation period of the platform before deciding whether they wish to switch to a modest contribution fee own a monthly basis. Bluemix™ is an implementation of IBM's Open Cloud Architecture based on Cloud Foundry, an open source Platform as a Service (PaaS) that lets you quickly create and deploy applications on the cloud.
Because of its open source roots, Cloud Foundry is vendor agnostic and does not lock you into proprietary software or cloud infrastructure. It therefore complements our other Open Source offerings LoRa and MicroPython.
The Binomium middleware platform is a highly scalable platform which allows a variety of different communication enabled object to talk to one another. You will also be able to control your various devices from your mobile phone, tablet or desktop PC. Whilst we have initially offered IBM BlueMix to our backers, there will be the opportunity to use AWS or Azure if required.
We will also be working with IBM to bring the LRSC layer directly onto the LoPy nano gateway thus ensuring direct communication with IBM’s LoRa network servers. LRSC is a scalable, end-to-end cloud solution for operating a LoRaWAN network - a network of gateways and end devices equipped with Semtech's LoRa radio. It is designed to operate a nation-wide telecommunication grade deployment, but can be scaled down to run smaller private networks.
It gives us great pleasure to announce we have now reached 54 countries. Some of the latest inclusions are Hungary, Bulgaria and Monaco! So, with still 11 days to go, we have reached over 1000 backers, 54 countries and hopefully more to come! We have not forgotten our University and Arduino Rewards either. We’re only €10k away from the Arduino IDE compatibility now.
From the team here, in the meantime, THANK YOU ALL!
We are working through the entries and will be sharing some of those designs with you early next week. That’s it from us for the time being. Have a great weekend and please keep spreading the word.
