Star Saver - charming indie game
Fast-paced and charming indie game full of colorful worlds and two adorable characters (Squidly & Sir Squishy) out to save the stars.
What happens when "A Boy and His Blob" and "Angry Birds" have a baby? A star is born... and it's called Star Saver.
Star Saver is a fast-paced and charming indie game full of colorful worlds and starring two adorable characters, Squidly and Sir Squishy, out to save the Stars from the Greedy Kings of the Feed Me Galaxy.
Squidly and Sir Squishy are stuck together and must work as a team to battle enemies and solve puzzles scattered across the planets.
How we plan to make the game:
Our team of two (Casey Gatti & Benjamin Cole) are passionate about making video games and have already been working on Star Saver for around 5 months. We've been programming, designing the gameplay, creating artwork and animating characters. It's been a fun and challenging journey as we've brought the game through an evolution of versions and shaped it into what it is today.
We are using a game development tool called Torque to help us release the game across many platforms (iPhone, iPad, Mac, and PC). We also thought it would be fun to mention that there are a couple open-source tools that we have used throughout various parts of development that have been highly beneficial to work with. Here's a small listing of them: Chipmunk Physics, Box 2D, Pencil, Tiled.
So, what will your donation be used for?
As we've reached different milestones in Star Saver's development, we are now at the point where we see opportunities that would help the project reach completion. Your financial support will help us attain the following in order to successfully finish Star Saver:
- Buy new hardware for development and testing
- Buy software licenses
- Get additional code development support
- Get additional art support
Rewards for helping us out:
On the right-side of this page is a full listing of the rewards that we offer for the various levels of support that you'd be able to contribute. At the $100 range and above you'll receive hand-crafted works of art. We plan on making fun "behind the scenes" videos when creating the animation cels and sculpted figurines showing the actual process from start to finish.
We need your feedback!!!
We want to make this game loads of fun. Throughout development we've seen that sharing the game with other gamers and gathering feedback has been incredibly important to us. If you pledge a certain amount of financial support, you'll get access to downloadable beta versions. We'd love your feedback! You'll seriously help "shape" the game.
In addition, there happens to be an awesome privately-owned video game store nearby us called Digital Press (located in Clifton, NJ) that we frequently visit to capture feedback. We tend to go there during their monthly NAVA events (held on the last Saturday of each month). If you live in PA, NJ, NY, or CT, we hope to see you there and get your feedback. (Follow our project's updates for upcoming dates.)
