An update to backers, especially International and Pyramid backers:

A request to verify mailing address information went out to all outstanding backers as of 2014-02-16. Everyone who replied and confirmed their address has had all unreceived items shipped. Tracking details should be supplied via email automatically. We will be following up with additional mailing requests shortly for those who did not reply. It is our intention to complete all Kickstarter deliveries by the end of this month.

Hello Fraser, our last update from the manufacturer in China was that all remaining Puzzlebox Pyramids were shipped from their factory on Wednesday, January 29th, just prior to Spring Festival (Chinese New Year). According to our DHL tracking details the Pyramids should arrive at Puzzlebox HQ on Tuesday, February 11th, at which point we will immediately begin testing and shipping all outstanding items to international backers. Many thanks for you understanding and continued patience!

Hello all, we apologize for the lack of response in this forum. In our last Kickstarter update (made back in April) we announced the "Puzzlebox Newsletter" which is how we handling all communications, both to our original Kickstarter backers and all new customers and members of our community since. Please let us know if anyone has not been receiving their updates on our project via email.

We will be issuing a new newsletter in the coming week, with lots of good news - including that the first 50 Puzzlebox Pyramids have arrived in the US, are being hand-tested and inspected, and will be shipping imminently.

      Many thanks for your patience.

When are international orders shipping. Are the pyramids ready to go? I saw mention of July shipping however it's now August. Update please!

    18. Puzzlebox Creator on August 2, 2013

      Hello Roo,

Currently the top motor is not used by our application, so that is why you do not see it turning. It is not a required functionality, but we do plan on integrating it with our software in the future to provide additional flight paths.

Thank you for your support of Puzzlebox.

    19. Evaristo Ramos on July 30, 2013

Hey there the Puzzlebox and mindwave mobile arrived safely in Houston, finally got a chance to play with it today, but the top motor does not turn ,any suggestions? Otherwise I need to carve out some time to play some more with it.

    20. Puzzlebox Creator on July 13, 2013

Hello Richard, Thank you for contacting Puzzlebox, we received your letter and have sent a couple of responses to the email address provided by you, and I apologize if you did not receive these communications.

According to our records you were a backer at the $189 tier for the Orbit Mobile Edition, which does not include the Puzzlebox Pyramid.

The IR Dongle was in the same brown box as the Orbit Helicopter which also included a bag with spare parts and a white USB charging cable. Can you please confirm that this was not included in the package and whether you also require the charging cable and spare parts bag by emailing us at

You were supposed to have received the NeuroSky MindWave Mobile Headset - which if that was not included was a simple error on our part when shipping out for the holidays and I apologize for the mistake.

We will send it to the address provided in your letter first thing Monday morning.

Thank you for your support of Puzzlebox and your patience as we resolve your concern.

    22. Puzzlebox Creator on June 28, 2013

Hello Fraser, to answer your question no, all $299 international and second-batch US customers should have received a notification in April that we pushed back shipping to July as a result of a hardware upgrade (adding Bluetooth support). This timing is still the case for international backers. All US Pyramids will be following shortly (as we have to first ship from our warehouse in China to our distribution facility in California). A detailed public announcement will be made this weekend. Thanks for your patience and stay tuned!

Again our apologies to everyone for the delay between updates. We issued a new one yesterday, along with a newsletter from our website which is meant to become the ongoing mechanism. Regards the Pyramids specifically we have also contacted all backers expecting delivery in April, please let us know if anyone was somehow not included. Cheers!

The app "i-Ufo" in the apple appstore can also control the Puzzlebox Orbit (actually the "iUFO" seems to have the same hardware base - so also for spareparts iUFO parts should work).

Precisely why I will NEVER own a apple product. Tyrannical puritans are not my idea of who I want to buy anything from.

    32. Jim Kleinmeyer on January 10, 2013

I see that NeuroSky has various IOS apps posted on tbe store, perhaps you can work with them and get your app posted, they "seem" to have the proper development license?

    33. Jim Kleinmeyer on January 10, 2013

I am also am not a ios programmer and would like to see the app in the App Store. Any progress on this?
The comment below with respect to your development license seems to indicate that you either expect us to build it from the source or jailbreak our devices. This is not something I wish to do on a new device.
      thank you

Hi Alvin, thanks for writing. We have established our warehouse facility in China. We expect to receive headsets and helicopters for international orders by the end of the first week of January, with shipping to commence to final destinations shortly after.

    37. Alvin Guan on December 26, 2012

Hi, what's your plan of shipping for the International wave?

    38. Puzzlebox Creator on December 25, 2012

There is an app in both the Goole Play store as well as the Apple App Store called "i-Helicopter" which is capable of manually flying the Puzzlebox Orbit:…

You need to select the helicopter located at the bottom-left of the screen. It seems to speak the same IR protocol.

    39. Missing avatar

      A. Miller on December 24, 2012

Is there an app that lets you manually control the helicopter if you have the mobile adapter already?

    40. Puzzlebox Creator on December 22, 2012

      Anthony V-

We cannot issue the iOS package prepared for the App Store as a general release. We only receive 5 device licenses as an Apple Developer, which get tied to individual UUIDs. However we do expect to have a package suitable for jailbroken devices available in the next 2 or 3 days. This will happen in coordination with releasing the source code for Android and iOS.

    41. Anthony
      on December 22, 2012

SuM- For those who received a survey, the purpose of the question about Android, iOS, and source code was to determine which of our backers who are using an iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch understand that our software must be approved by Apple before they can install it. While we tried to be quite clear the iOS software will be finished before December 25th, Apple's review process is not under our control. If our program has not yet appeared in the App Store we don't want backers who give or receive a Puzzlebox Orbit as a gift to be disappointed! We are using the responses received to reach out and follow-up with each backer who could be affected (just as a precaution).

To answer your question, all backers will have free access to the Android and iOS versions of our software, as well as the source code.

Your intended use with your student sounds excellent! Please let us know however we can help. Cheers

    45. Puzzlebox Creator on December 9, 2012

Shannon- That's an interesting question! Here' a quick suggestion. Print out a photo of the Puzzlebox Orbit along with your "surprise" note. Place it inside a very light-weight box along with a large helium balloon. Wrap the box with only simple ribbon and let the gift box float in the air when you present it. Alternatively you could use something like Blu-Tack to attach the box to the ceiling. Good luck!

      Dear Puzzlebox People,
Your survey does not provide for a BOTH on the Android/ios question or an ALL THREE to include code.
I have a student with MS who needs to learn from this device- (everything from how to use will power to direct her mind to the understanding that the world does not have to be off-limits just because you can't walk or move). I need to know more in order to make the right decision as I set this up for her. Your advice and direction would be appreciated. As we break on the 21st, I can't give this to her until sometime in January so- no hurry!
