About this project
ABOUT THIS PROJECT
Reteaching Gender & Sexuality was generated to contribute additional queer/trans youth voices to the national conversations about queer/trans youth lives; and it's just the beginning. Our education team is addressing heterosexism through creative media and educational strategies. With queer/trans youth voices at the forefront, we believe that together we can shift the conversation about gender and sexuality.
Our educational team of media makers and educators are working together to prioritize young activist voices and conversations about intersecting identities, popular culture, and systemic change. Collectively, we’ve trained practitioners and students of education, social work, mental health and counseling, public health, medicine, law, recreation, social science, and the humanities. We’ve worked with hundreds of organizations and schools training about gender and sexuality, and have specific expertise in community-building. You can find out more about our team on our website at: www.putthisonthemap.org
The Reteaching Gender & Sexuality Tour is a journey that intends to steer the conversation beyond the symptom of bullying, to address systemic issues and deeper beliefs about gender and sexuality that impact queer/trans youth. Our Reteaching Gender and Sexuality web-video (on our site at www.putthisonthemap.org) received over 100,000 views after launching in November. Each day, we receive emails asking us to bring Reteaching Gender & Sexuality to campuses and communities - from Salt Lake to Wilmington to Montreal! Our team will be hosting screenings and leading workshops across the country and collecting media at each stop to contribute to a global conversation about reteaching gender and sexuality. Email email@example.com to schedule a tour stop in your town!
OUR BUDGET & YOUR SUPPORT
Over the last year, we’ve been working as all-volunteer group in Seattle. We’re humbled and excited about how many invitations we’ve received from groups across the country, but need your support now in order to make our training affordable to schools and community-based organizations. We're raising $10,000 as a base of the support we'll need to support the cost of logistics, supporting young people traveling as educators, and acquiring critical equipment. The funding will also help us provide screenings and trainings for schools and organizations with limited resources! Your donation at any level helps us meet this initial goal! Minimum pledge is $1!
