MUD is an open-world exploration and survival game, inspired by old school M.U.D.s and Minecraft. MUD lets you jump into a world with friends and strangers to forge a community, kill epic monsters, craft cool gear, build towns, and fight other players in a completely destructible world.
We are creating a living fantasy world where player choices matter. To do this, we are taking the mining, crafting, and building of Minecraft and merging it with the adventure, hack and slash combat, and online community of M.U.D.s. We also feel that a world should feel alive, so we are working on an Emergent AI system. No more creating an empty town, in MUD, if you build it, NPCs will move in.
MUD at a Glance:
- Non-targeted Action Combat
- Persistent Online World
- Full-Loot PVP
- Huge Procedurally Generated Fantasy World
- Fully Destructible World
- Emergent AI
- Epic Loot
- Mining and Crafting
- 1st and 3rd Person views
- Windows, Mac, and Steam
The game is being developed for PC and Mac and is currently in a playable pre-alpha state. We have been greenlit on Steam and plan to release in Early Access in March of 2016. We are excited to get MUD into the hands of the community so that we can work together to make this the best game possible!
A thousand years after an apocalyptic event nearly wiped out humanity, the human race is struggling to survive on a verdant Earth, but they aren’t alone. In the time since human dominance, new races have evolved amidst the ruins of the old world.
As you explore the world of MUD, you will encounter many familiar sights alongside fantastical creatures like zombies, dragons, and duckbill platypuses! Seek treasure in lost ruins or build a thriving city-state to reclaim the wilderness.
This is the time of high adventure, where legends are born, and heroes are made.

MUD lets you play how you want; be an adventurer, a crafter, a builder, a killer, or a king. Here's how:
Our combat is fast-paced and exciting. Hack, slash, and disintegrate your foes by chaining melee attacks or weaving together spells for devastating effect.
MUD is meant to be played with friends. Team up to build cities and take down dangerous monsters on online servers. We will have both our own capped server and player run servers. If we hit our stretch goals, we will be able to scale our servers to support thousands of players at one time.
PLAYER VS. PLAYER
Full Loot PVP - The world of MUD is a violent one and you'll need to be strong to survive. MUD features open player versus player combat that allows players to duel, betray, and assassinate each other anywhere at any time. Some say you need friends to survive, some say you don't; in the world of MUD you decide.
LOOT AND CRAFTING
There are tons of items for you to craft, find, and steal. These items range from simple wooden shovels to ancient blades crafted of the finest materials. Each item has a use and could be key to your survival.
You can discover recipes of items while traveling the world or by experimenting at the forge. Once you unlock a recipe, you can easily craft the item by selecting it from your recipe book.
EMERGENT AI SYSTEM
The NPCs in MUD will have their own personalities and goals that will guide their behaviors. For example, wolves are always on the prowl for easy prey, such as sheep. As they get increasingly hungry they will start to look for food anywhere, even attacking players directly if they are desperate enough.
We’ve built our own voxel engine that procedurally generates a huge world with fantastic cave systems, waterways, creature lairs and more.
Players are able to alter the voxel world by digging through the terrain, chopping down trees, or building new structures. Our world is a living one that is constantly changing through player action!
MUD has been in development since mid-2014. Our team is focused on providing a great experience in this voxel sandbox world and delivering the game to Steam Early Access in early 2016 with full release expected in late 2016.

We've come really far, but we're still a small team and need your help to finish this game with all the great features it needs. All of the funds raised, after paying kickstarter fees, will go into the continued development of features, months of testing, UI development, music, sound effects, animations, more testing, and finally polish.
We believe in this game because we believe in ourselves. However, we do know that sufficient funding will be a key variable in delivering the game at the best quality possible. We really hope our Kickstarter campaign works out but regardless of the result, we will find a way to finish what we have started. Please help us make the most dynamic fantasy world for you to live in!
Pure Bang Games is an indie game studio in Baltimore, MD with a mission to take over the world. Established in 2010, we launched our first release, My Pet Rock, on Facebook in 2011 and gained an avid following. Since then, we’ve developed games for some of the largest brands, like League of Legends and James Bond, and our games have been played by millions of people around the globe! Made up of a great mix of new developers and veterans from companies like Bethesda Softworks and Big Huge Games, and led by Producer/Designer veteran, Benjamin Walsh, our mighty band of game developers are serious about creating the next generation of innovative games for PC, mobile and console.
Risks and challenges
We are a solid team with years of experience creating games together. Over the last year, we have developed a playable prototype with most of the core features, including basic multiplayer.
We have minimized the risk of Multiplayer by allowing the players to run their own servers, but we want to create a more robust online experience. One of our stretch goals is to create a persistent MMO server that we will manage. We have experience doing this at Bethesda Softworks and Big Huge Games and know that it will be amazing.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
