Hey everyone...this is Chris. I already posted this on my own Facebook, but I wanted to post it here too... It’s moments like this that make playing in Punchline for 20 years totally worth it. We get to make the MUSIC SPECIAL of our dreams, with a whole bunch of amazing people that we’ve met along the way right by our sides. I can’t even express the amount of gratitude that I’m feeling! The only way we can really say thanks is by releasing a new album this summer, touring as much as possible, and making this the best Music Special imaginable. My head is spinning with ideas for it.
The Kickstarter will continue until midnight…now that it’s for sure happening, that’s the place to go if you want to come be part of it. We have the funds to create it now, but anything extra will go toward all of the other expenses associated with something of this magnitude. Tomorrow, the planning will begin…the first thing we will figure out is a date and location for the filming. We will be sure to give you guys plenty of time to make arrangements if you’re coming from out of town.
This is insane! Oh man. All I can say is THANKS.
Love, Chris (and Steve and Cory and Trev!!!)
Our band, Punchline, will be celebrating our 20 year anniversary this July. It's been a remarkable journey to get where we are today, and we would like to commemorate it with an ambitious goal: to make a Netflix Music Special.
We have a very clear vision for what we would like to create: the visual culmination of 20 years (or 7,300 days!) of friends making music together. Part intimate live performance, part documentary, and part comedy, this special will combine all of the things that we love to do together. We will surround ourselves with the talented artists and directors that we have met over the years to create the best music special we can make, but we also want the fans who have supported us along the way to be an integral part of it by being a part of the audience.
We like to think that this film will show future generations of people that we were here, we made music, and we made the most of life. This band has been the driving force in our lives, and it’s all thanks to the support of people like you. The Netflix Music Special will mark the end of the first 20 years of Punchline, and the beginning of the next 20 years. We said, “Tie me here in time” on album Action, and that’s what we intend to do… to forever tie ourselves to this moment when we were all in a room together, reflecting on the past and looking into the future together.
Here's an FAQ, because everybody loves an FAQ section.
Is this going to be on Netflix?
Our answer is a resounding... MAYBE! We're going to find every way possible to actually get this on Netflix if we reach our goal.
Then why call it a Netflix special?
We're calling this a "Netflix special" for the same reason people call a tissue a Kleenex, or a copy machine a Xerox machine. People KNOW what it means when we say a Netflix special. We thought about calling it an "online special", but that implies we're broadcasting it live. We can't call it a documentary, because it's only in part a documentary. We can't call it a DVD, because that's soooo 2007. So, it's a Netflix special (hopefully).
What happens if this isn’t on Netflix?
If we are fortunate enough to raise the funds to be able to create this It-Might-Be-On-Netflix Special, we will do whatever it takes to get it streaming on Netflix. And we mean WHATEVER it takes.
Where and when will the filming of the special take place?
We will film the special in the Pittsburgh area. If we reach our goal and we get to make this project, that's when we'll figure out things like dates and times, location, and we’ll be able to let everyone know. Spoiler Alert: It will be sometime this Spring 2017.
Who was that cute cat in the video??
That's Steve's cat Marlowe. Honestly, she's great.
Can you tell us more about this 5-way kiss with the band?
Wow. We never thought you'd ask. We want to make it very clear that this kiss will only be a PECK. That means NO TONGUE and definitely NO FUNNY BUSINESS. Here's a Youtube we found of some Sims having a nice little peck. This is similar to what you can expect.
Many times throughout the career of our band, we have come up with ideas that start with, “If we only had the ability to do this”, but most of those ideas eventually get left behind. Kickstarter provides a platform for us to propose the idea, and if kind humans in the world decide that they like they idea, they can provide us with the resources to the make the idea a reality. As an independent band, sometimes you have to take a chance and ask for help.
Thank you so, so much for checking out this page and for even considering the thought of backing our project.

Risks and challenges
The risks involved in a project like this come from not knowing who to turn to when it comes to the video and audio production. Having been experienced in both of these areas for 20 years, we know exactly how to proceed, regardless of any bumps in the road.
Another challenge we will face with this project is getting the project onto Netflix once it is completed. We are confident that with our connections, we will be able to make this a reality.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
