Year 2162…a devastated world, a wounded Earth and no high hopes for humanity; only volunteers, like yourself, to try to save what’s left.
From a high-tech hydrostasis capsule, your mind takes control over a virtual entity – a machine, a robot, your Recyx.
Thanks to it, you will be able to search the endless wasteland that our planet has become, looking for rubbish to recycle and ways to produce energy.
These discoveries will allow you to rebuild a fairly safe place for your body, which would otherwise not survive much longer underground.
The wisest will survive; the community will dominate; the loners will live from dangers to adventures, or will disappear in rust and sand.

Evolutive: Persistent sandbox world. Many aspects of the game are affected by the players’ actions, or inactions, and continue in real time even in an offline state. So players need to play on a regular, minimal-time basis to ensure basic base management to survive if they are not playing much.
Survival: NPCs don’t wait around for you to kill them. Inaction causes them to continuously multiply, until they have completely invaded your area. You now have to restart somewhere else… Maybe with other people.
Community: You can surely choose to play the lone bad guy which will make this far more hardcore, but the best chance to succeed in Recyx is to rely on an area’s inhabitants’ recurring participation, group actions and communication.
Game: You know, the kind of old-school game that had a nice enough look to run on many computers that we paid $20 for 70 hours and more of gaming rather than what we get nowadays? It’s that kind of game.
A new kind of MMORTS we could say, but without steady leveling and real skills-based/class-based limitations.

FULL RECYX TRAILER
You start with a single building, the silo’s base that holds your body safe. With the starter Recyx, you will begin to harvest the desert for needed materials to make buildings for your base to grow and evolve. The materials are also needed for ammunition, for other robot parts, and more. ENERGY IS THE KEY, for everything in Recyx, you will need energy.
The power is provided by buildings like Aeolian Tower, Recycloton, Solar Panels, Nuclear Power Station, Generator and Thermal Power Station.
It will not be an easy undertaking. The climate, dysfunctional robots and mutated insects will be there to slow you down and bother you as often as possible. Even your neighbors, and those in your area will join in. So you have to make allies as soon as possible and manage to organize people in your area if nobody else does. Or you can play alone.
In no time you will be able to build your own robot with salvaged or purchased parts. The choices are endless and you can have many robots ready to use at your base, in different buildings.

Here is one of those many possibilities.
Persistent world, evolving in accordance of the community actions...or inactions. You are 40 in an area that you must clean and defend at all cost.
Mutated insect will spread with no mercy if you are not cleaning the area of their nest. In the worst case, the complete area will be invaded and you will have to restart in another one...
Two employees, many independent workers, and I who had free time, and shared a passion for video games. Our administrator, Nancy Martone help us out with the english and manage the company with Jean-Jacques.
At the beginning of the process, I found a wonderful investor from France who put A LOT of his personal money in the project (actually, there would be no Recyx without him), and a bunch of people who believed in my project. Slowly… But surely. We were, and are still bound by a solid contract that gives us a share of the game equal to the time or money invested during the whole development. So it is really a TEAM PROJECT.

As the projection shows in the video, and created in Recyx, the development of this game was CHAOS! It started out as a little personal project that I was unable to finance with my small company, Productions Soleil Rouge, Quebec, Canada. At least I wasn’t supposed to.
So with half a wage… Low budget for all kinds of needs… My apartment serving as office… And one of the 3D artists from France living with me for a year, a video that took 600 hours of rendering on a single computer turned into one minute of HD video. Add to that working with team members at a distance and 6,341 cups of coffee (seriously).
So as you can imagine, and as I’ve said, chaos. BUT NOW, after two years of hard work, we are proud to finally show what Recyx will be, approximately. All you are seeing now is the ALPHA / BETA VERSION – no specular, no lighting, no terrain or weather effects, just basic gameplay.
We were just wondering about how to continue working by our own means before our lovely administrator Nancy found the KICKSTARTER solution for us. Like a heaven light, which could grant us not only the chance to finish the game and release it more quickly, but to start building our community right away. That is the most important part of Recyx for us, and for it to succeed.
Miracles of the universe were born from chaos! So with Kickstarter, it could really come true now. And soon!
From approximately August 2010 to “soon”!!! Game is 80% complete: we are finishing assets integration in the game engine, and building the server is going well. Presently, only the buildings are on the website (ingame version), but you will be able to create your game account as well as pre-order the game shortly (better to order via Kickstarter for the beta release). We are hoping for the beta version in early December, and hopefully a full release a few months later.
TO GET READY FOR THE RELEASE AND SPREAD THE WORD And, unfortunately, because we didn’t know about Kickstarter until recently.
As you can imagine, licenses, development tools and proper server solutions are very costly for small studios, especially the latter which needs to be suitable and strong for our kind of game.
We were actually financing the game with some external contracts and our personal money and time, and lots of caffeine. That did the job, but took longer. So we need to make a final sprint to have solid servers ready for the launch, and to pass from the beta state to the full release.
We now need to spread the word, in English and in French, to introduce the game everywhere! And we can’t afford to do so by ourselves.
So all the money that we have left (not much), and the money that will come with the help of Kickstarter, will go toward the following:
Last miles: At this point and for the coming months, we need to work harder, and only on Recyx. So no more income from external contracts for me and the programmer. Our basic survival is at stake!!!
Hosting: Flexible server solutions and services are costly to start, but even costlier with many people on the game. We have to be ready to prevent any problems while our game is exclusively online.
Software: Last software license for development, other tools for special effects, more Unity 3D licenses, SmartFox server, etc. External Help: Needed for specific server solutions that we are not able to handle and test easily by ourselves.
Communications: Quiet geeks aren’t really good at spreading the word, so some external help will be needed here, too. Webmaster, other ways to spread the word and to ensure proper management of our communication efforts.
Last Touch: Polish the game’s special effects, lighting, and mostly sounds. These will all be improved with any funds exceeding the very calculated campaign goal.
Non-monetary help is also welcome, whether it is your time, spreading the word, professional expertise, suggestions or ideas.
We could really use the help of someone experienced with special effects in Unity 3D, such as weather and lighting effects.

As I mentioned earlier, we are an almost online-only team that worked everything out on Skype, TeamViewer and so on. One of the team members stayed in my apartment for a year, which doubled as my office, but by all means, WE DID IT.

Risks and challenges
Keep focusing us on the game, even if we had to work on other projects in order to fund ours. Also, the team work mostly online, in different time zones, and of course, with low budget...
Now that we have all the game objects, images and major functions, we need to finish the game. So we need few more full months, that could become half a year, even more, without a little external financial boost.
We are a collective of creative, all are players, in multimedia development, animated with the same desire of making a great video game. We've worked really hard those past 2 years and already proud of what we've done, our obstinacy will lead us to the release of Recyx in any cases...we just don't know exactly when if it is done without further help. Recyx economic model design for you to be free in the best as possible to be, as in the game itself.
You have to buy the game, that is the only thing you are oblige to do. That will be the full digital copy of the game. No limitations, no features locked of any kind.
There is optional subscriptions, that will give bonuses that will only ease the task of the player. Mostly design for casual gamer, who want to follow the hardcore ones, or simply for those who want to go faster, safer.
Optional Copex purchase: Copex is one of the currecyx in the game, you can earn those by doing daily objectives and in many other ways.
Use mostly for parts warranty, outdoor services, and some utility objects. No weapon or any gamebreaker can be purchased with it.
MMO have high server costs(with high population of course), that is why most of them have subscription, or stronger means to start as free-to-play, what we can't do. We have no much choice then to have another income system to insure the long life of the game.
There is great game like Leagues of Legends that have a fair economic model that isn't a gamebreaker (last time I saw it at least). We tried to create one like that in our way.
The beta that is planned for november, unfortunatly will only work on Windows. We are actually working on Unity 3D 3.5 and can only build on Win and Mac Os.
Release should be playable on both then.
We are looking forward to upgrade to Unity 4, that will give us the means to add Linux on our Plateform.
Some game add-on and widget are on planning for mobile too.
