Climb Everest is an immersive virtual reality experience that takes you on an epic adventure to one of the most extreme environments in the world. You will be a part of an expedition travelling from Kathmandu to the very summit of Everest. The journey will take you along the less trodden north side which has greater views of the mountain. The way to the top is filled with fascinating places to discover, like busy streets of Kathmandu, remote Tibetan villages on the base of Chomolungma, or different camps on the mountain. You will experience the preparation and work that goes into conquering the highest peak in the world and guiding you on this incredible venture will be renown adventurers Noel & Lynne Hanna. Noel Hanna has summited Everest 7 times and has also completed 7 summit challenge, so you will get the most comprehensive insight into climbing Everest.
VR Explorers were the first film industry’s production team to capture virtual reality footage from the top of Everest and now you can immerse yourself in virtual reality and have breath-taking journey to the summit.
But we do not wish you to just follow our footsteps. We want our audience to have an active part in creating the story. Do you want to spend more time in the villages with locals, explore the basecamp or concentrate on the perilous route to the top? Let us know and shape your own story.
ClimbEverest will be available as an app for VR headsets and smartphones including Google Cardboard, Samsung Gear VR, Oculus, HTC VIVE and other platforms.
There is plenty to see and a great deal to do on the way to the top of the world. We would like to form a creative relationship with our backers and produce an immersive virtual reality expedition based on the decisions you make. By supporting this Kickstarter, you will be a part of creating an amazing adventure for you and other people to enjoy. It is not just about experiencing the journey for yourself, but also about shaping the story for future explorers. Throughout the week we will provide content from at least two different locations. We would like to ask our supporters for interactive feedback regarding which storyline we should concentrate on, which locations to present in more detail. Together we will create the best story possible.
With the rewards we wanted to give a mix of classical items, but also use VR and new possibilities that it provides.
The final designs will be uploaded during the course of the campaign.
Essentially, we need your help to finalise the project and get this awesome journey out to you, our audience. We have already travelled to Tibet and back, we have climbed Everest, we have finished filming, and we have a lot of exciting content. Now we need some support to finish post-production and create the experience which will then be shared among our backers and everyone else.
One of virtual reality’s coolest possibilities is that it can immediately transport you to the most exotic, remote, or extreme places on earth. It unlocks the opportunity to experience locations and cultures that are foreign to us. VR as a medium is not only entertaining but it can also build awareness of the environment and the world which we share with so many others. We have already been to the top of the world and now we would like to make this amazing journey available for everyone.
We would like to invite you to be a part of our creative team. There are so many astonishing places on the way up to Everest and we would like to know where would you prefer to spend more time or which places to explore in more detail, so together we can develop an overall experience for everyone to enjoy. For that reason, Kickstarter is a perfect platform. It is ideal to establish a creative communication with the community and ask for some support at the same time! Help us finish the project. We are just so close to bring Everest to you.
After strenuous preparation, we shot the 360-degree footage in the season of 2016. We've invested our time and money to get us this far, but now we need your help to cover the remaining costs of post-production. Below is a breakdown of how we plan to spend the funds raised during this campaign.
All the selected shots need to be stitched together for a seamless experience. We can’t use the footage as it was filmed. Horizons need to be corrected; tripods and other disturbing elements in the images are brushed away. Colours need to be graded and set in a similar style. We also plan to have a professional voice over, guiding you through the experience, this needs to be recorded. Motion graphics need to be designed, and placed. In addition, we are creating an ambisonic experience, it's like surround sound but for virtual reality.
All these elements need to be tested and adjusted several times. The end result will be an amazing, world’s first Virtual Reality experience on the North side of Mount Everest. Thanks to YOU.
