Ever wanted to share a photo with a friend and not have to put it on the internet? Now you can, with Prynt: the first ever instant camera case for smartphones. Just plug in your iPhone or Android device, snap a photo or choose one from your favorite social network, and print it out in thirty seconds!
Prynt is portable, lightweight and fun! Snap and print photos anywhere, anytime.
It's ideal for when you're out with your friends, sightseeing, or capturing a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Gifts and cards become more special when you include an instant photo. Take it with you on the go and never miss the chance to shoot and share some everyday magic.
We also designed Prynt to be modular so it can fit different types of phones. The part of the case that contains the dock can be easily changed based on the phone model. That means if you upgrade or change phones, you don't need a whole new Prynt Case, just order a new dock adapter from us and keep printing.
Lastly, we worked hard to design a beautiful object you'll love to carry. We think our black, white, pink and blue models are gorgeous and the matching (animal-friendly) leather grips are quite chic.
Plus, you'll never have to deal with ink or cartridges because we use a special paper with the ink embedded inside. Just load the paper and print away!
The case holds 10 sheets of paper, and refills will be available through our app. We'll include one pack of photos (10 sheets) with each Prynt Case reward on Kickstarter. Want more paper? For every $25 you add to your pledge, we'll send you 50 extra sheets.
Each print-out is more than a photo — it's a video! While you're posing for a photo, our app records a short video and stores it in the cloud. When you hold your phone over the printed image, our app will automatically scan and recognize it, showing your movie on screen in augmented reality.
You can see the videos in your friends' photos, too! Print and pass your photos around for a creative new way to tell your story. It's like a secret message in every photo — embed any kind of surprise you can think of!
The Prynt app is under development and will be released this summer. Our goal is to carry the beauty and simplicity of the case onto the screen of your smartphone for a seamless experience.
In addition to taking a picture, you can select one from your camera roll, Facebook or Instagram. You'll also be able to enhance your photos with frames, filters and personalizations in the app.
To embed a video in a print, use the app to record your movie, then select the frame you want to print:
Order more paper through the app too, and we'll send it right to you! The app can monitor your paper usage and let you know when it's a good time to reorder so you'll never run out! Plus, your shipping and billing info will be stored so reorders are a breeze.

We were inspired by classic instant cameras and wanted to recreate the magical experience of sharing physical photos with our loved ones. We were also convinced we could enhance this experience by incorporating our smartphones, which are always with us and help us stay connected.
After developing the alpha prototype, we were the first French startup selected for Haxlr8r, a hardware accelerator program based in Shenzhen, China. We came away from the experience even more dedicated to our original vision of a modern instant camera that would be both portable and beautiful.
Then Prynt was asked to exhibit at the 2015 International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. Over four days, we took hundreds of selfies, met lots of great people, and were even named by CNN as one of the four best products of CES!
It seemed like the perfect time to come to Kickstarter to get the support needed to finally put Prynt in your pocket! We're so grateful for all your enthusiasm and would love for you to help us make Prynt a reality.
Risks and challenges
We are really excited about launching the first ever instant camera case for smartphones. However, the most important aspect of this project is that we fulfill our promise to you, our backers!
We put a lot of work into designing and building the first prototypes, but as a hardware project we are also aware that there will be challenges of manufacturing, production, shipping worldwide and more. Our promise is that we'll rise to meet all these challenges and more with the combined experience and passion our team brings to this project.
We've given a conservative estimate for our delivery dates. We are committed to keeping you informed of our progress both during and following our campaign. We assure you that we are all working very hard to produce a sensational product that not only arrives on time but is of optimum quality!

Plus, when you take a photo with Prynt, our app embeds a video inside of it, giving you a creative new way to tell your story. Hold your phone over any printed picture and watch it come to life in augmented reality on screen!

A printer is an additional device to carry, switch on as needed, and navigate through a menu of complex options before you get a single print. With Prynt, just put your phone in the case and the app opens automatically; then snap a picture and swipe to print! It’s so easy to use and is truly portable.

Simply choose your perk and note the shipping costs outlined in the description. Next add your perk cost + additional paper add-ons ($25 for 50 sheets) + shipping costs to get your total. Enter your total in the “pledge amount” in the checkout page before validating.

If you forgot to add shipping, or pledged the wrong amount, our software will easily identify this once the campaign is finished. You will be emailed after the campaign is over to reconcile any errors, and you'll still be able to get the perk you validated.

We decided to build Prynt based on thermal technology as it does not require ink, which makes the process really simple for the user, and kept the device small. There are no cartridges to change, only our photo paper, which actually has the ink embedded inside of it. When it’s heated to the correct temperature, the image appears on the paper instantaneously and the quality is nearly archival.

Our case is currently compatible with the Samsung Galaxy S4 and S5 as well as iPhone 5, 5C, 5S and 6.

We designed Prynt to be modular, which makes it easy to change just the part of the case that connects directly with your phone. If our campaign is successfully funded, we’ll email you at the end with a survey to find out which adapter you’d like. And, if you upgrade or change your phone, you won't need a whole new Prynt Case — just order a new adapter from us, follow our simple instructions to swap it out, and keep printing!

Yes, it’s powered by an internal battery, which can be recharged with any mini-USB cable (we’ll include one with your reward).

You’ll be able to print around 20 photos on one charge. The Prynt Case has a lithium-ion two cell 500mAh battery. Thermal printing unfortunately requires a lot of power (so it's more reliable to measure in prints than time) but Prynt should make it through most outings.

Just 90 minutes, so plug it in when you’re getting ready in the morning or before your evening out and you’ll be all set.

Yes! You can choose to print any photo on your device, or from Facebook and Instagram. Our app will also offer editing tools like filters and frames.

The app will only provide access to the photo feeds from Facebook and Instagram from now. If you want to print a picture from another app, you can still save it to your camera roll and select it in our app.

When a photo is taken, our app records a video and stores it in the cloud, linked to that photo. After it’s been printed, anyone with the Prynt app can hold their phone over the photo and watch the video. At that point, our app is scanning the content, much like a QR code, and then calling the video back from the cloud and playing it on screen.

Without a phone, the case weighs 0.49 pounds (225 g). We are still finalizing the exact weight based on production specifications but we have optimized the design it to make it as light as possible.

The main colors of our first edition cases are final. However, small changes in color may take place between now and delivery. We currently offer white, pink and blue models plus we've added a black case since reaching our first stretch goal.

No, we use a high-quality synthetic version that is animal-friendly.

Each case comes with one or more packs (10 sheets of paper), and additional paper can be purchased through our app. Refill packs are $5 and include 10 sheets of paper.

The Prynt Case uses special ZINK (zero-ink) paper so you’ll never need to worry about film, ink or cartridges!

Yes! We can include more paper if you “add on” to your pledge amount. Each additional $25 gets you 50 more sheets of paper.

Our prints are two by three inches, which allows our device to stay small, but still produce beautiful pictures about the size of your smartphone's screen. The prints are smudge-proof and water-resistant so don’t feel bad stashing them in your purse or pocket for safekeeping.

The Prynt Case will take ten sheets of paper at a time. To add more, just remove your phone from the case, lift the panel underneath, and place the new paper in the well, blank slide up, then slide your phone back in.

We estimate that the first batch will be ready for delivery at the end of summer, with the rest following in early fall. Due to the very high number of backers, we cannot guarantee that orders will be shipped in the order they were received because different cases take different amounts of time to produce, and we want to ship them to you as soon as they are ready. No, at the moment Kickstarter uses their own payment processor. If you are having persistent problems checking out, please send us a private message and we'll do our best to help you sort it out!

You will only be charged if we are fully funded at the end of the campaign.

Unfortunately we cannot accept returns from Kickstarter purchases. We will, however, repair or replace a defective unit at no cost. Thanks for your understanding.

Between $130 and $150, which also includes one pack of paper. We plan to begin retail orders in time for the 2015 holiday season.

We will ask for your shipping information in a survey which is sent out after the Kickstarter campaign ends. We may send this survey closer to the time of shipping rather than immediately after the campaign to limit the chance of address changes.

For the main pledge, US shipping is $10, Europe will be $15 and the rest of the world will be $20.
