Prospects is a new sci-fi comic from writer Max Majernik and artist Jean Franco. The Kickstarter is for a print run of #2 (and #1!) of the mini-series. The comic is a perfect balance of 50's sci-fi, 80's action, and everyday life.
The first Kickstarter for Prospects #issue 1 was a Kickstarter staff pick and funded in just 100 hours.
The town of Ridgeville has been stuck in the middle of a 150-year-old battle between two mad scientists, and former colleagues, Edwin Grabowski and Victor Farsimov. Both claim to have figured out the secret of immortality and created armies of zombies and cyborgs using their respective methods. The scientists have waged a war for so long within the town that the townspeople now consider it an honor to be abducted by one of the mad scientists in their quest for glory. Anyone who shows any bit of potential, be it brains, brawn, or anything in between, will be captured by one of the scientists by the time they are 25 years old.
On the outside looking in is 30-year old Colin Bates, who isn’t one of the prospects. He has been selected by no one, not by scientists, girls, or even friends. He spends most of his days watching TV in his basement where he avoids doing odd jobs for his Grandma and her friends. Everything changes when a notorious terrorist, intent on destroying both scientists, appears in Colin’s basement begging Colin to take over his legacy.
On the inside looking out is 18-year old Andrew Russell. Andrew has it all, the brains, brawn, and looks to be whatever he wants: the ultimate 5 tool prospect. The problem is that the whole community wants him to be a soldier for one of the scientists, while he just wants a normal 18-year-old life. He has to deal with the pressure of the town, especially his mom, about every aspect of his day AND the thought that he can be abducted by one of the scientists at any moment.
Meet the Team
Max Majernik (Writer) @SnowballMax I currently reside in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. I have a passion for writing and took classes such as dramatic and theater writing in college in hopes of getting a dramatic writing degree. Over the past few years, I have written reviews, articles, and interviews for various comic blogs. The blog I have dedicated most of my time to is comicosity.com, where I had the pleasure of reviewing a wide range of comics and interviewing many industry regulars. This past year, I felt compelled to go back to my creative writing background and to focus my free time on writing an original idea. As my first venture into the world of comic writing, I put together a small miniseries that I hope people who love comics, or people who enjoy a fun story, can enjoy. Thank you for the opportunity and for taking time out of your day to read what I have begun to put together!

Risks and challenges
Since this is not my first Kickstarter, I have experience with shipping and printing the various rewards. I already have who I need lined up and which websites to go to. The art is already completed for issue 1 and 2, and all we need to do is send it over to the print shop!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
