PROMOTE HOMOSEXUALITY is a Kickstarter project that, through the sale of unabashedly gay merchandise and art, aims to fund the inaugural WILLIENORRISWORKSHOP runway show on June 13, 2019 at La Mama Galleria in NoHo, Manhattan.

I want to create an apparel brand that is holistically and intentionally queer, not just queer by association. It is one thing to have a queer person as the face of a brand or as a brand ambassador. It is another thing entirely to have a payroll full of diverse queer people working on a brand at every possible level.
I have purposely placed this runway show in the middle of NYC Pride Month, which is the time many corporations make their annual pander to the queer coin. I want to use this event as a way to show how to truly lift queer people up through business.
I am incredibly grateful for any way you are able to contribute to my vision.
I am offering rewards at every level of contribution to this project in the form of WILLIENORRISWORKSHOP merchandise and/or #PROMOTEHOMOSEXUALITY art.
If you choose a reward level that includes a merch item(s), you can choose from the following options:

An exclusive colorway of the "WHAT EXACTLY IS HETEROSEXUALITY?" tee, available exclusively via this here Kickstarter campaign. The text for this shirt was adapted from Alan Wakeman's 1975 poster-mural that mocked heterosexist platitudes. He is an absolute hero of mine, and more about him can be learned here.
See my girl Manni (a true muse if there ever was one, created by my friend Neptune Prince) walk in it here:
.. or go for the classic colorway if you've been meaning to pick it up, anyway! Seen here on @mattxiv
and here is the FULL BACK TEXT (will be white text for the former colorway)
All tee shirts are available in size XS-6X. You will choose your shirt size at the end of the Kickstarter campaign via the Backer Survey (NOT when you pledge!) and at that time I will include sizing notes and pictures so you can choose your best size.

Stamps are self-inking. You will choose your stamp color at the end of the Kickstarter campaign via the Backer Survey (NOT when you pledge!).
*If you would like to add additional merch items to any order, add $35 to the pledge amount of the level you choose. (For example, if you choose to pledge at the $100 level through the "MERCH+PRINT DUO" but would actually like TWO pieces of merch and a print, make your pledge for $135 instead of $100.)*
I am also offering a series of 8.5" x 11" prints of work from my a few of my collaborators on this project (with permission of course!) as a reward included with certain pledges.

If you would like to add additional prints to any order, add $65 to the pledge amount of the level you choose. (For example, if you choose to pledge at the $100 level through the "MERCH QUAD" but would like a print in addition to the four pieces of merch, make your pledge for $175 instead of $100)
Rest assured, if you cannot choose between the above options right now you do *NOT* have to choose your print option at the same time as you submit your pledge (though do not hesitate in making your pledge as there are a limited number of prints to go around!) You will make your print selection at the end of the campaign when you are emailed your Backer Survey. Additional print options may be added throughout the campaign!
All pledges over $225 will also receive a custom collage tee shirt , designed and hand printed by myself.
I like to think of these as "process download" tees. I have never offered these for custom order before and it is very doubtful I will offer these again anytime in the near future. These are truly one-of-a-kind items, simultaneously exhausting and stimulating to make and are near-impossible to reproduce.
For this occasion, I will make yours based on a word, theme or idea that you provide me with. Alternatively, I am happy to create one for you based on my own prerogative. All collage shirts will be assigned a title of my choosing and the interior of the shirt will be signed and dated by me.
I am also happy to duplicate (within reason, it is impossible to re-produce these with 100% exactitude) any shirts that I have made in the past. See below for examples and links to more pictures of each shirt.
***All reward levels include Kickstarter & credit card fees (8-10% of the fundraising total). Shipping cost is based on USPS First Class & Priority Mail rates***
Every day that this Kickstarter runs, the @WILLIENORRISWORKSHOP instagram will be featuring content commissioned from some of my favorite creators for the occasion. Some collaborators include:
Oh, and let us not forget that even Shangela is behind the "PROMOTE HOMOSEXUALITY" message...

I am a queer apparel designer based in Brooklyn, New York. I have been working in the fashion industry in NYC for the past 10 years, working for and with designers such as Isaac Mizrahi, Susan Cianciolo and Maria Cornejo. For the past three years I have worked (and am currently working) full-time as a menswear designer for Outlier.
In 2018 I established my own brand, WILLIENORRISWORKSHOP, where I have been consistently producing and selling queer-centric clothing, primarily in the form of t-shirts and undergarments. My hope is that, with the success of this Kickstarter, I can move into different product categories and eventually offer a full line of apparel.
Risks and challenges
The biggest variable in staging a fashion show is often the venue. I have already booked, paid for and signed a legally binding contract for the space rental for June 13 and June 14, 2019.
I have ample experience producing (and shipping) all the rewards I am offering, and barring an unexpected catastrophic event do not anticipate any un-resolvable issues in production or fulfillment of pledge rewards.
FYI: When you back this project you are supporting a *fashion designer* who has a proven track record of designing, developing and locally producing clothing...not a VC who woke up one day with a cute idea :)Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
