Project Magus is officially funded!!
You know what that means... it's time to crack open the stretch goals. Scroll down to the bottom of the page to check out the stretch-goals available!!
War. It's a familiar concept. Now imagine Modern Warfare with Sorcery.
Welcome to Project Magus.
This campaign is the start of an ongoing military/fantasy series. The initial objective is to gain enough funds for the printing of issue #1, which has already been completed!
That's right! All the art for issue #1 is final, and the base funding for this Kickstarter will go directly towards printing costs. This choice of production pipeline will allow us to deliver a finished product to you at a faster rate. Any additional funds acquired will then be pushed towards giving you a higher quality product and developing future issues.
As of now, there are roughly 10 issues planned for this story arc, each issue running between 18-22 pages.
Ancient sorcerers are re-emerging and trying to destroy modern civilization as we know it. Our current technology isn’t enough to stop them, so Central Intelligence initiates an operation called Project Magus, which is the integration of Magic into modern combat. The story centers around Corporal Victoria Lopez, a United Nations Marine with a haunting past. Victoria discovers an extraordinary ability that aids her and her allies against these overwhelmingly powerful Spell Casters.
You'll follow Cpl. Lopez and her squad mates as they combat this deadly adversary while uncovering the mystery surrounding her new found power.

Why should I invest in Project Magus #1 now?
This will be your only chance to own a physical copy of Project Magus #1 in the foreseeable future. All physical issues will be a limited run and available for a limited time. Once the physical copies are all sold, that's it!
Moving forward, future issues will only be printed if enough copies are pre-ordered. Otherwise, you'll be able to download a digital copy on ComixCentral.
Costs of the campaign are divided into four categories; Assets, Shipping, Kickstarter, and Miscellaneous costs.
"Assets" refers to all items that backers will receive when investing in tiers. This accounts for 250 prints of issue #1 along with 5" x 7" concept prints, 11"x17" posters, lapel pins and other physical assets.
"Shipping" accounts for all items that need to be shipped from the manufacturer/printing press overseas to my home in Valencia, California.
All successfully funded campaigns must give 5% of their proceeds to Kickstarter.
Miscellaneous costs ($350)
"Miscellaneous costs" covers emergency expenses, travel expenses and anything else that should arise to cover irregular expenses related to the campaign.
About the creators
A note from Nick
"Project Magus is a love letter to a game I directed while in college. Though the original concept itself is indefinitely shelved, I was always fascinated with the concept. 'What would happen if you brought fantasy elements and pit it against technology?' I tried to capture that with Project Magus. I hope you'll enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it!"
From digital PDFs to prints and posters; the more you invest, the more cool stuff you get!
Stretch Goal #1
ARTIST GALLERY - $5000
The Artist Gallery will include all commissioned art that was used for promotion for Project Magus. Everyone who bought into Alpha Tier or greater will get the High Resolution digital copies. For those who bought physical copies of Issue #1, the artist gallery will also be included in the back of the book. Here's a list of some of the artists:
Oana Birtea - @yuuza_art
Jack Brandão - @jackcomicart
Thiago Marques - @tmrqs
Justin Criswell - @whipswitch
David Cave - @davecavedraws
Alex Carter - @sk3tchb0t
AUGMENTED REALITY CONCEPT
I have been working with the fine people over at Last Call Games to put together an Augmented Reality Concept (ARC) software. This will allow users to scan a concept using their mobile device, and will bring the character you see on your phone to life. We have the tech already working as well! You can check out the proof of concept below:
As you can see, we're currently using temp art to show off the capabilities, but the functionality is working! On its initial release, only Victoria Lopez will be available. Hendricks and Williams will become available at later tiers. They'll also most likely be static(non-animated) models, that way users can fully appreciate the artwork.
Stretch Goal #2
ISSUE #1 DUBBED - $7500
That's right! I'll be hiring voice talent to play the characters in Project Magus #1. To give you a sample of what that would look like, here's the early proof of concept I threw together.
This is still in its rough stages. In the final release, there will be some effects, panning backgrounds, and with some other elements to give it a nice polish.
Corporal Victoria Lopez will be played the incredibly talented Cristina Vee, who plays the voice of Marinette / Lady bug in Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir.
Risks and challenges
Working in game development can come with a lot of deadlines. To ensure the stability of my career, there will be weeks devoted to meeting these milestones. This may take away personal time devoted to working on future issues of the comic or working with printing manufacturers on producing the final product.
I have acquired over 7 years of professional experience working in Game Dev. With this experience, I am familiar that delays may occur during production and have done my best to take this into consideration when issuing delivery dates to contributors.
