About this project
Unfortunately, We did not meet our goal for Advent Saga on kickstarter. However, during the time of our campaign we received a lot of feedback from players wanting to have cards of their own. This is something we want to make available to you, and additionally, we see this as a great way for us to continue production on the Advent Saga, both digitally and physically.
With that being said, we'd like to announce the opening of our online store featuring 4 packages that will give each of you a physical Alpha Kit of your own and additional physical and digital rewards. The packages will be mailed out in waves of every 100 buyers beginning in September and all the proceeds will go directly to funding the development of Advent Saga, both as a physical and digital game.
Be sure to make your way to our website and get your cards today!

Advent Saga is our labor of love. It is over a year and a half of dedication from everyone on the team. It is months of brainstorming, play testing, designing and re-designing, and analyzing every detail top to bottom to make a game we're proud of and want to give to you.
It is a Digital Tactical Card Game (DTCG) that combines the excitement and traditions of popular card games, with the strategic, all-out war, elements of Tactical RPGs. utilizing a battlefield for deep new possibilities in combat strategy. It is a science fiction story putting the player in the position of battling for galactic control while unraveling the mystery of how the war began.
In Advent Saga, a player's goal is to build a strong strategy and have a tactical awareness of their surroundings. This can be the difference between victory and defeat. The truly unique elements of Advent Saga make this a fresh experience for even the most seasoned CCG veterans.
Before getting started in a game of Advent Saga, players will choose an Advent, a unique character card that possesses specialized powers and abilities.
Once the leader of your deck has been chosen, players then build a deck around their Advent consisting of Armada, Tactics, and Gear to lead them to victory in a campaign to conquer the galactic Battleground!
- Strategically deploy your forces across a unique 4x4 Battleground and employ precision tactics in an effort to outmaneuver your opponents forces.
- Assemble the perfect deck around your Advent, the unique, always in-play, character card that represents the core of your strategy and key to your victory.
ARMADA: Military units possessing stats (Attack, Defense, and Range) and abilities to establish Battleground presence.
TACTICS: Instant-use cards that can control and alter the flow of battle.
GEARS: Enhancements and weaponry to fortify your Armada and gain the upper hand.
- Use Advent Saga’s unique production system to generate vital Resources from any card in your deck to power your forces.

- Online modes include Unranked, Ranked, Tournament and much more, all using an ELO-based ranking system.

Risks and challenges
The greatest risk facing Advent Saga is that without funding from Kickstarter, we simply will not be able to launch the game. While nothing is going to stop us from an eventual launch, not meeting our Kickstarter goal will set the game back indefinitely. We need the funding to be able to provide all of our design team with proper compensation for their hard work, as well as continue to pay any other independent artists we commission in the future. Continuing to perfect the game design and ensure a stable, enjoyable game and the highest quality design all hinges on us being able to meet our goal. We just can't do it without you.
Our greatest challenge is making a game that our entire community can enjoy as challenging and fun without being too hard to get into for new players or wracked with exploitable card combos. We strive to create a product playable at any skill level where veterans of the CCG genre can find an original and exciting game to test their skills and newcomers can easily learn and grow while still having fun. Above all we want to make certain that we never sacrifice quality or take a shortcut where it will negatively impact the players. Advent Saga is its community, and that is both our greatest challenge and our greatest strength.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
Your game looks like a lot of fun, but I don’t want to go in blind. Are there any combat demos or tutorials I could watch?
We will be releasing update videos during the Kickstarter, one of which will feature a full match with in-game commentary from 2 members of our team. You can also check out our Youtube channel (youtube.com/adventsaga), where you will find tutorial videos and some early alpha footage of gameplay. Also make sure to check out the Advent Saga rulebook, available as a .pdf at http://adventsaga.net/
Are there any rewards for winning besides increased ELO ranking and the sweet, sweet rush of victory?
Winning reaps all kinds of benefits - players will be able to win rare cards, in-game currency, and other prizes. At the same time, winning battles nets a player experience that will allow them to level up, eventually gaining perks, discounts, and the ability to play special challenges for special rewards.
Is there any difference between what I can buy at the cash shop and what I can get with the in-game currency?
In Advent Saga, players will have many opportunities to earn in-game currency as well as purchase additional credits. This currency is called "Orynn Credits" and the exchange is $0.01 for 1 Orynn Credit. Currently anything you can buy at our shop with cash can also be purchased with Orryn Credits earned in-game.
Half the fun of CCGs is looking at all the great cards you can have. Is there a full listing of Advent Saga cards somewhere?
While a public card list is not currently available, you can go to our forums at http://adventsaga.freeforums.net and find posts for card previews. In addition, backers will receive frequent updates detailing further information on our website and Kickstarter. These updates will feature a variety of content, including card previews, gameplay, art, lore, and much more.
I see you will be offering some booster packs for sale – are there going to be different kinds of booster packs? How can I best spend my money to maximize my chances of getting rare cards with which to crush my enemies?
There are currently 3 types of boosters in Advent Saga: Recruit, Lieutenant, and Captain. Each booster pack increases the rarity of cards the player will receive. Recruit boosters cost 200 Orynn Credits ($2.00), come with 6 Cards, and can have 1 rare card. Lieutenant boosters cost 350 Orynn Credits ($3.50), come with 9 Cards, and can have 2-3 rare cards. Captain Boosters cost 500 Orynn Credits ($5.00), come with 12 Cards, and can have 4-5 rare cards.
I also see some business about Recruit starter decks and Developer digital starter decks – what’s the difference?
: A Recruit starter deck gives you the cards necessary to play Advent Saga and get a great feel for the gameplay. The Recruit decks come with 1 of 5 Single Resource Advents, allowing you to explore the strategies of each. What a Developer digital side deck gets you is a set of cards specially chosen by our own Game Developer, Paul LaCen, and other members of the staff. These contain 1 of 3 Dual Resource Advents, allowing a player to experiment with mixed resource decks. These cards can be swapped or added to the starter decks to test out newer tactics and strategies.
After our Kickstarter is successful, our plan is to release 1 expansion per year, containing about 150 cards. We will also be adding minor expansions at various points which will add in a small number of cards and progressing the story.
I want to build ALL THE DECKS. Are there any restrictions on how many I can build at once? How can I get new Advents to build decks with?
Advent Saga will feature a Deck Builder allowing a player to build and save multiple decks. A player will begin with a certain number of Deck save slots and be given the opportunity to access additional slots by earning them or purchasing them with in-game credits.
Advent cards will be unlockable in Advent Saga. Once a player has obtained an Advent, the Advent is unlocked for the player's account and can be used to construct any amount of decks. Advents can be obtained through boosters, starter decks, special events, and as rewards.
How about a system where you can sacrifice your unwanted cards to gain extra resources, or better cards, as we’ve seen in games like Duel of Champions with its Infernal Card Deal?
We do have a system planned where players will be able to use superfluous cards to grant themselves a portion of currency or even potentially a chance at rarer cards. Instead of locking players into a game where they might have to retread the same strategies over and over again because of repeat cards, we want to give them the chance to maximize their options while at the same time adding an element of risk for doing so. To that end, we will also be doing featured cards in the shop and are examining the possibility of winning them through sacrifice, so the concept of something akin to an Infernal Deal has been discussed.
Great! Now I know all the best strategies and have a killer deck. But what happens if I’m up all night playing and none of my friends are around to have a match with?
We currently have single player and challenge modes in the works. These will feature solid AI opponents and give players a deep look into the lore of Advent Saga. These modes will also allow a player to level up a second experience bar that will give access to harder challenges and new in-game perks.
There are four levels available: Recruit, Lieutenant, Commander, and Advent.
A Recruit Tester Kit comes with a 2-player paper map and 4 Recruit starter Decks.
The Lieutenant Tester Kit comes with 2-player felt map, 4 Recruit starter Decks, and a Developer side deck.
The Commander Tester Kit comes with a 2-player Felt map and 3 copies of each card in the Tester Set. This will give you the opportunity to build your own decks and find your own unique strategies. You will also have the ability to test other Advents that can be obtained in the digital game.
Finally, the Advent Tester kit comes with a 2-player Felt map and 6 copies of each card in the Tester Set. This is the kit that will allow players to test the game with the exact physical set provided to each of our own testers.
I love this game enough that I want to keep giving you my money, but at the same time I feel like I should be getting something in return for that. What say you, Advent Saga team?
Our main goal was to build a game that allows players to get the full benefits of experiencing the game without having to pay for access every month. We do have plans for a subscription system, but haven't fully worked out the details. However, the plan would be to allow consistent players to have the opportunity to subscribe and receive monthly boosters, promo cards, early access to new content and special event draft tournaments.
