Risks and challenges
As with any project on Kickstarter comes risk, my responsibillity as the creator is to minimize as much of that as possible.
This being our second time on kickstarter after having already launched and fulfilled a 3D Printer project last year, the Proforge Original, makes us quite familliar with and experienced in running a project of this complexity with a successful outcome.
We've also learned from our mistakes, not only technical ones but also logistical and business ones, and feel now quite confident to launch and fulfill orders for the Proforge 2 in a far more streamlined manner.
Previously we had used 3D printed parts in for the Proforge Original, and found the disadvantages of doing so out weighing the advantages, especially in the realm of reliability. We've transitioned away from 3D printed parts and are now using either folded metal or injection moulded parts.
And on the topic of manufacturing we will be continuing to use suppliers from our previous project and have sourced new ones also with prices already negotiated.
We designed the Proforge 2 to be easy for us to manufacture by selecting as many off the shelf components as possible and using reliable manufacturing methods like laser cutting and sheet metal bending to ensure reliability accross production.
Besides the design and feature changes to the Proforge 2 are also the support channels to accompany it. The biggest change being the teaming up with Dozuki to publish build manuals onto their platform. We've also created a professional forum page, and updated our website to be alot easier to navigate.
However as with any endevour there will be bumps along the way and here not only will our technical expertise be needed to over come them but also sound and honnest communication with our backers, which is something we take very seriously!
