Thin Blue Line uses good-natured humor to bring awareness to the problem of overzealous (and under-ethical) law enforcement and the ways in which they avoid punishment for breaking the very laws they are employed to uphold.
Players start as rookie officers and follow a branching tree of promotions on their quest to become the new Chief of Police. It will take collecting a string of Code Fines, Traffic Stops, Vice Stings, and Drug Busts to earn each Promotion, while avoiding Media Frenzies by playing the most appropriate Justification. Players must also escape the cop watcher Brian Ellison by becoming Loose Cannons or issuing a Restraining Order.
Use a simple draft mechanism to collect sets of Busts, Justifications you can use to avoid Media Frenzies, and Commendations that give you extra points.
Collect Busts by drawing and passing cards each turn, with a focus on earning the next big promotion.
Turn in matching sets of busts to earn Promotions that give you points and a special ability.
Each time you earn a Promotion, you may receive a bonus, get caught with your hand in the evidence locker, or trigger a Media Frenzy.
The player that triggers the Media Frenzy chooses the most appropriate Justification from the other players, and that player earns Commendations.
Watch out! You don't want to end the game with the Brian Ellison card in your hand (he's worth negative points), so make sure you secretly pass him to the next player every chance you get. Or just find and use the Restraining Order to keep him away.

This expansion adds 4 Victim cards to the deck, and allows the acting Chief of Police (first player or the previous game's winner) to choose one of several rules for that game.
We've decided to focus on making the best game possible, and delivering it FAST! So don't worry about reaching some lofty number so you can get a better game, because it's already the best (only) law enforcement simulation card game in the world!
Risks and challenges
While this may be our first Kickstarter campaign, we are very familiar with the platform as backers and have done countless hours of research into successful (and not-so-successful) campaigns, and feel as though we have prepared ourselves to communicate with our backers, fund quickly, and deliver in the shortest possible timeframe.
The art and graphic design are being upgraded and finalized, the rulebook is being compiled, we have secured manufacturing and fulfillment partners, and we have what we believe is a fun and thought-provoking game that can be enjoyed by gamers and non-gamers alike.
Of course, manufacturing and shipping from China can come with its own challenges and delays, but we believe we are prepared to deal with any eventualities.
Due to the content of the game, and our limited experience, this project will only be available in the US.
