Party Time and PayPal!

We did it. We made our goal and then some, and it was all thanks to you. Here’s some of our favorite quotes from press over this last month.

“Hex Heroes makes good on the Wii U's long-unfulfilled promise of truly innovative gameplay" - The Escapist

“...if, like me, you are a Wii U owner who is in need of many more great games, then you owe it to yourself to check the game out. I think you’ll be glad you did!” - OpRainfall

“Thanks to you guys, I now love the term ‘Par-TS’ “ - Nintendo World Report

PayPal

PayPal is a go and we’re honoring most of the reward tiers for a short time too! For the next month, we’re honoring all rewards at the $200 tier and below. After that, only the digital content will be available (reward tiers $75 and lower). If you’re looking to increase your pledge through PayPal (as in you’re already a Kickstarter backer), you need to let us know so that we can add the totals and take your reward increase into account.

We’ll keep you guys posted on our PayPal/stretch goal progress :D

So… what now?

Kickstarter is such a great means of involving a community in the development of a game and we’re excited to use it to the fullest extent. We’ll be involving you in as much as we can from voting on the final design of the poster and t-shirt rewards to getting all kinds of feedback on the work we’re doing. Kickstarter Updates are the way we reach you guys privately, so expect about two a month - they’ll correspond to our development schedule. We'll also have public updates through Facebook (fb.com/PrismaticGames) and Twitter (@PrismaticGames).

Now that PayPal is in place, we’ll be able to continue raising money for stretch goals. If the game is released before all stretch goals are met (which is more than likely), we vow to offer any stretch goals we develop as free DLC. A few of you have asked whether or not there’d be paid downloadable content somewhere down the line. We’d love to do that! In fact, paid DLC (if produced first) will help fuel the production of stretch goal DLC.

The only thing left now is to make the game. We’ll be entering development in about a week. The last month has been extremely stressful and we need a small vacation. Once we get started, we’ll update you all with a rough timeline of sorts.

Backer Survey

We'll be taking a few days to develop the survey and make sure we ask you absolutely everything we'll need from you. Kickstarter only allows us to send one survey, but most importantly, we'll want your email in case we need to contact you again.

Contest Results!

The moment you’ve all been waiting for! We received some great submissions and we’re happy to finally show them off! We'll be contacting the winners shortly so they can select their rewards. Thanks to everyone who submitted their work and helped spread the word. We'll be posting all the art submissions we got a little later to our facebook album.

As if these great submissions weren't evidence enough of how creative our backers are, here's a neat short story by Marty Faigin about Hex Heroes:

Let’s Get Emotional

Growing up I never knew that being a game developer was a thing you could do. Games just sort of appeared out of thin air and arrived on store shelves. It wasn’t until much later that I associated names like Miyamoto behind the games. My childhood was scored by game composers like Grant Kirkhope and David Wise, and if someone had told me I’d not only make games, but games with Grant’s music, I’d have thought they were crazy. You’ve all helped to make that dream come true.

We’ve received so much support from all of you, our friends on Youtube, and our colleagues in the indie development sphere. I never thought I’d make such a connection with you all, especially in the final days where we played Banjo-Kazooie and DKC 2 together, and where the comments more than doubled. In fact, I’ve decided to keep streaming games on Twitch (not nearly as frequently, but it’s been such a great way to connect with you all). This has been a touching experience.

I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to work on this project and pour my heart and soul into it. Expectations are high, but that’s the way I like them. If you all don’t mind, I’m going to be taking a break for a couple days and relaxing before I roll up my sleeves and get busy. Just imagine me riding into the sunset.

- Mario

It's been a strange ride for me personally over the last few years. Being a licensed Nintendo developer is very surreal, but it's another milestone in my development career. I want Hex Heroes to capture the experience I had growing up as a gamer. I was lucky enough to have older siblings who owned an NES when I was born, so I grew up gaming, and I always wanted them to show me how to play. I really hope that you all have the chance to play Hex Heroes with friends and family and create wonderful memories.

This is my second Kickstarter campaign, but the experience has been 10 times greater (also 10 times the work). I'm elated that our hard work has paid off. Mario and I have been planning this Kickstarter for months, and we could have gone in many different directions, but we did just enough right to reach our goal. And all of our backers have made this so much easier for us. I really can't thank you all enough.

I'm most excited that Hex Heroes will be our first big project at Prismatic Games. I have little projects that I've been working on that I'm hoping will be released soon and continue to build our studio name and reputation. I'll mostly continue working from behind the scenes, but we have grand plans for Prismatic and I hope you will all be our first fans.

-Chris

Rest now, Heroes. You deserve it.

Congrats again, guys! You deserve it! It's been an amazing experience so far and the promise of an incredible game is even better.

Thanks for all the updates, for involving us that much, for being always so easy to reach and specially for being so cool and sincere to us.

Miyamoto may be THE MASTER, but you are the closest to someone from the family. Now get some rest and come back renewed!

congrats to the contests winners. the one with the shadowy personas creeping behind those players is scary creative.

it's reassuring to hear that stretch goals still have a chance of getting in later on, even after the game is released. as for paid DLC, i'm up mostly for game "packs". where you'd get a new map/campaign (possibly with a new tune), a new character class, a new character/cameo skin, and 1 or 2 trophies (if we hit that stretch goal). basically, a pack that is like a mini-expansion of sorts.

anyway, i'm looking forward to seeing more of the game in motion. before that though, rest up and enjoy yourselves. :)
